A plain top, single pickup and simple bridge make this an unmuffled tone-machine

The Gibson Custom Les Paul 1957 Reissue 1 Pickup with Wraparound Bridge may have a modest set of features, but the tone that it produces will inspire you to play better. There's something to be said for having just one pickup in the right position and a single volume and tone control at your disposal.

With this 1957 Les Paul Reissue you're getting the most pure tone that its combination of mahogany and maple can produce. Now all of the tonal variations and sonic nuances are coming from your fingertips and your playing technique. No more switching between pickup configurations, nor tweaking tone-draining circuitry to modify your sound. It's down to you. Similar to driving a well-tuned old sportscar, you'll discover how to get the most from this unique guitar the more time you spend with it.

With its comfortable, '50s-shaped neck, slightly reduced weight and well-balanced body, this humble Les Paul will lead you to new sonic territories as it under-promises, yet over-delivers. Did we mention that it also looks super cool? Includes case.

Comments about Gibson Custom Les Paul 1957 Reissue 1 Pickup with Wraparound Bridge:

This guitar was exactly as I expected tone-wise, possibly even better once I put new strings on it. I have another LP model with a Burstbucker in bridge, and absolutely love the tone, so I was expecting superb tone from this guitar as well. As mentioned in the other review, intonation is surprisingly accurate, despite limited adjustment of wraparound tailpiece. The clarity in tone from every string, at every fret is amazing. Truly a quality guitar, and what you'd expect from Gibson at their prices. I have to add something here about MF customer service. Upon delivery, I opened the case to discover that the cool inverness green model I had ordered was actually gold. Not that color matters to me that much, but not too often do I get to buy an instrument of this caliber, so I was admittedly disappointed. Called Scott, my Private Reserve direct, and he said this was the last guitar, so no exchange was possible, only refund. He suggested I play it a few days and decide whether or not to keep it. Of course he knew I'd fall in love with it. I decided to keep it and they gave a generous discount to make up for the error. Great, personal customer service from both MF, and especially Private Reserve staff.

Comments about Gibson Custom Les Paul 1957 Reissue 1 Pickup with Wraparound Bridge:

This is an overall quality instrument. This is one of many Gibson Les Paul's for me but I am flat out in love and impressed with the sound and playability of this guitar. There is definitely something to say for the single pickup design which just gives a life and an edge to the instrument. The resonance and ability to effortlessly pinch out harmonics is amazing on this guitar. I was leery about the chunkier 50's style neck, seeing how I thought I had been spoiled by the 60's slim neck. I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable and amazing the neck really is. The feel isn't anything like grabbing a Louisville slugger or a block of mahogany. The feel is more present than a 60's slim and also very welcoming and warm feeling. Not at all the shock I was expecting. With as impressed with this guitar as I am, there were a couple of things that I was not so thrilled about upon its arrival. One, was the finishing of the paint. It had a few imperfections on the face of the guitar up around where the neck is set in and where the neck pickup would live. The other thing that has been different getting used to is playing on a Gibson that has the single stop piece wrap around bridge that lives a lot closer to the bridge pick up than it would with the tune-o-matic bridge in between. I find myself hitting my pinky finger quite a bit on the pick up ring which is just something that I have to get used to working with on this particular instrument. Speaking of the wrap around bridge, I am pleasantly surprised at how well the guitar is intonated considering that the wrap around bridge doesn't give the flexibility when trying to intonate the instrument. All in all, I am very pleased with my purchase. This guitar breaths fire and love every minute of it!
