A Gibson Les Paul for the new millennia upgraded with hotter pickups for even more tonal combinations.

The Gibson Les Paul Axcess Standard electric guitar carries all the elegant styling, fluid body lines, and rocking attitude of a classic Les Paul Standard from the golden era of 1958 to '60. The Les Paul Axcess Standard reveals a handful of upgrades upon closer examination—all modifications made in the name of maximum playability and versatility.

While the Axcess electric guitar sports what looks from the front to be a traditional Gibson Les Paul neck joint, the neck heel and portions of the back and neck joint at the upper cutaway have been contoured to provide a "heelless" feel and an unimpeded reach right up to the 22nd fret. No more stretching against the traditional neck heel to achieve the upper-fret access that your lead style demands—the Gibson Les Paul Axcess guitar gives you that sought-after Les Paul playability all the way up the neck, and welcomes you to take it right over the top.

To further enhance playing comfort, the Gibson Les Paul guitar's smoothly carved neck joint is joined by a "belly scarf" (a.k.a. ribcage contour) that allows the body of the electric guitar to hug closely to your own body in the playing position without digging in. Add to these contours the Gibson Les Paul Axcess guitar's slightly thinner body, made from weight-relieved mahogany (with carved maple top), and you've also got a Les Paul guitar that is refreshingly light, and a pure joy to play either strapped on or seated.

The Gibson Les Paul Axcess Standard guitar now comes juiced with two super hot Gibson pickups, the 498T and the 496R. These forces to reckoned with pickups yield numerous tonal opportunities and can help drive your favorite amp to ultra crunch and scorching — leads in addition to providing ballsy blues tones, warm, fluid vocal tones, snappy country, and fat — sweet growls. Instead of just being able to split both pickups at the same time with one push/pull (like the original Gibson Les Paul Axcess configuration), you can now "split" each guitar pickup separately by pulling up either the rhythm or treble tone knob which allows you to blend "single coil" tones with full humbucking tones. This gives 2 more pickup settings than the original Gibson Les Paul Axcess Standard configuration thereby providing a wider array of tones. Simply pull up the treble and/or rhythm tone control knobs to "axcess" single coil tones and experiment with combining full humbucking with single coil tones, etc.&hellip:

Being a product of the Gibson Custom Shop, the Les Paul Axcess is an electric guitar built to the highest standards attainable, which include a final setup and fret dressing by the computer-controlled PLEK System. All Gibson Les Paul Standard necks receive precision fret dressing and setup with the Plek system. As the guitar lies in a cradle, a computer-controlled robot arm moves along the neck measuring each fret's height, the fingerboard radius, even the bow in the neck. Using that data, the Plek machine adjusts the truss rod, cuts the nut slots for optimal spacing and height for each string, files each fret to a hundredth of a millimeter accuracy, and then polishes the frets. In a fraction of the time it takes a skilled technician, the Plek machine eliminates buzzing strings and dead spots, producing a neck with flawless intonation and superb action.

Each Gibson Les Paul Axcess Standard guitar also comes with a custom shop hardshell case, and a custom shop certificate of authenticity.

Comments about Gibson Custom Les Paul Axcess Standard Electric Guitar with Stopbar Tailpiece:

I'm a 23 year semi-pro who's owned and used a lot of different gear in that time. I've played thousands of different guitars and always preferred the sound of the Gibson Les Paul while preferring the ease of upper fret access of the Jacksons and Ibanez's of the world. When I first saw the Axcess advertised with the Floyd Rose I thought "that would be perfect if only it had a stopbar." When I saw one with a stopbar, I knew I had to have one.

That was in 2009. Four years later, I finally had the money and opportunity to actually add one of these guitars to my collection. When it arrived, I opened the case to reveal a gorgeous Iced Tea flame maple top and a near-perfect factory set-up. I plugged it straight into my Vox AC30 CC2 and hit a few chords: magic came out. I found my "it" sound. When I play this guitar into an AC30, that's the rock sound hit records are made of. This guitar maintains all the sustain and tone the Gibson Les Paul is famous for while being far more playable due to the neck joint cutaway. If you're looking for super-strat playability with the Les Paul sound, look no further!

OK, not great, but worth checking out

Comments about Gibson Custom Les Paul Axcess Standard Electric Guitar with Stopbar Tailpiece:

Axcess guitar with a stopbar. Play through a Line 6 and Marshall MG4. Music style is everything from Rock, Blues and Jazz. Play out 3- 4 weekend a month. Other guitare, LP Firebrand, LP Standard, Taylors and some Epiphone. Also have a few that were made by a friend. Well here it is. I always said I would never buy a guitar on line, because ever Guitar has its own personality (Sound, Feel). Well I certainly stand by that same thought today.I bit the bullet and ordered the Axcess through guitar center. (By the Way, if you go thereDo your homework, because they don?t. Only found one person that new anything and he was a help. The others were just trying to sell me whatever they could) The Axcess I receive was ok. It was definitely different feel and sound than the one I played with the floyd rose. (Witch I did not want) my guitar still sounded good though. The Axcess real treasure is in the contoured back. It is not so fat and allows for better ?Axcess? to the higher notes. The pickups are hot and clean witch gives good versability. Hear is my complaint. For the price you pay for a guitar, you would think they could put better hardware on (ie Klusion tuning key?s are close to the bottom of the barrel). Also the guitar was not even set up. When tuned up, there was tons of fret buzz and the intonation was way off. They sent a card with this QA stuff checked off, but I can?t believe they really did it. Over all it?s not too bad, but Gibson needs to work on its QA. Sorry guys but its true. I would recommend checking it out, but would not buy on line.
