This is a superb sounding les paul. That third pickup gives it just a little extra brightness but yet at the same time when you crank up the gain/distortion this guitar is plain mean. An unexpected, cool feature is the tonal difference between the three pickup selector positions. I admittedly pretty much stick to the bridge pickup, but the middle and bridge settings are really great for some moody blues riffage. The finish won't effect the tone too much, as its paint doesn't fade to green like its predecessors. Either way, it looks great under a set of stage lights. Its a shame this guitar isn't more readily available/lower priced, because I think a lot more people would want to have it.
I can honestly say, this is one of the most outstanding guitars I've ever had the opportunity to play. The only reason why I gave it a 3.5 in value is because I believe a large part of the price is in the finish. Being a big silverburst fanatic, though, this is IT. I had a PRS hollowbody before this one, and was actually willing to trade that for this guitar. Although I miss my hollowbody, this guitar is superb for guitarists who want a really deep sounding guitar that can also tickle a blues melody. Also, the third pickup makes this thing excellent if you like to use a lot of feedback in your songs. The bridge pickup setting makes this guitar sound nearly like a bass, its pretty wild.
