So, i felt the need to post a review after reading some reviews by "Justin Heron". Please dont listen to what he says. This is an exceptional guitar in every way. I've been looking for a good deal on one for the past year and found one about two months ago. Just as awesome as the the first one i played over 10 years ago. Justin and some other people i know seem to have problems with them. They're the people who are never satisfied with their gear because they're, simply put, poor musicians. If you know how to play this guitar will give you everything you want. Also, not sure why people complain about the weight. BE A MAN! For the most part a heavy guitar gives you a great sound. You can't go wrong with this Paul!

It's a shame that they charge an arm and a leg for this guitar. With a Zamak Nashville TOM bridge, Nylon Nut, and a Zamak Tailpiece, and fairly hot pickups, this thing is a far cry from a late 50's Les Paul. The pickups used to come stock in 2007 SG Standards, and the Nashville TOM started coming standard in Gibson guitars in the 80's. Certificate of authenticity? Authentic WHAT? Gibson doesn't even hide the fact that they drill holes into the body at certain points to lessen the weight, in fact, it is broadcasted on their website. The original late 50's Les Pauls had ABR-1 style bridges made from pure Zinc, A380 Aluminum tailpieces, bone nuts, and came solid - without holes drilled into it. The only thing this guitar has going for it is the wood, the binding, the finish, and the tuners. They got the wood material right, but everything under the hood is entry level garbage. Do yourself a favour and buy a cheaper Les Paul, upgrade the hardware yourself, and save a couple grand to take your woman somewhere nice. With this Les Paul, you're paying for cosmetics, not quality.

Comments about Gibson Custom Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar:

Sure, it's fun to play with a good feel, love the hot pickups, and it's a real looker in black with the gold hardware, but

        FOR THAT PRICE???!!!

For this kind of dough I would expect a better bridge, nut material, volume/tone control knobs, and fret board at least. A Richlite fret board on a guitar with this price tag? All gold hardware except the control knobs? REALLY???

For a LP 3 times better in the same price range, the Alex Lifeson Les Paul Axcess is a better buy for the money. Push/pull coil splitting pots to turn each humbucker into single coil independently, a piezo pup under the Floyd Rose bridge, slimmer body with a fast neck, and it's real looker too... MY OH MY...

        OR:

Twice as good at half the price, the Les Paul Pro II is amazing. Features an additional push/pull pot for a 5dB lead boost along with the coil splitting pots mentioned above with the vintage control knobs makes it a real looker too.

This Gibson LP custom is merely not worth the money compared to many other Les Pauls.

Comments about Gibson Custom Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar:

If Gibson ever gets Ebony back on the fretboard this would be the best guitar ever. Ebony FEELS like a match to my fingers. The Richlite on this guitar just feels tacky. I think Gibson should just use the tightest grained Rosewood on these models and dump the use of the resinous richlite. I mean,it is not even a slab of wood.

Comments about Gibson Custom Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar:

Really? Bad comments on the Custom??
OK, first off, I am not going to list my creds here - b/c you've heard me on your radios over the last 30 years.
Look, you don't play one of these every song in every set. Guitars are tools - the right one for the right job. And, having said that, I have others that I play more frequently, due to their flexibility in tone.
          BUT
When you strap it on, you know you're in expert hands. No bad surprises, nothing to go wrong. For certain applications, only a LP Custom will do (still like their sound better than the Standard).
I have two - a 1972 and a 2014. The 2014 is every bit and more the axe the 72 Norlin era is - they just made so many advances. Richlite? Fine. Bring it. I have a friend that swears by his 1973 Porsche Carrera - but the new ones are just mind blowingly better, for safety and performance reasons. Same here, if see my meaning.
You buy a Mercedes, or a Rolex, or a Porsche for a reason: You know what you are getting. You know it will last a lifetime. You save and save and want your money well spent. You are paying for years of research that goes into every one.
I'm not saying Gibson are perfect, in fact they are a complete nightmare to deal with sometimes, but the LP Custom is just one of those guitars. Every serious player should have one.

Comments about Gibson Custom Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar:

I learned on an Les Paul Standard from the 60s - OK collectors stuff and I love that guitar - but nostalgia be darned - it is just a fact that as the years went by the guitars got better (the wiring and shielding in particular) My Custom is a white solid and I have AAA and AAAA tops on others. Pretty for sure - this is simply the best electric guitar I have ever played - so while I hang the collectors items on a wall this is easily what I play!! if you can get one do.

                  Great Guitar, Bad Neck Construction

Comments about Gibson Custom Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar:

I have had my LP Custom for about 5 years. It is by far the nicest guitar I have ever played in my life. However there are a few setbacks that seem to be very, very, very common among Les Pauls. 1. The neck design is awful, many crack or snap. (it cost me a lot to get mine fixed) And 2. It is EXTREMELY heavy. But besides those problems it is an amazing guitar and sounds phenomenal.
