When I was a sophomore in High School, I spent every penny I had saved from paper routes and summer jobs to buy an electric guitar. After playing the flavors of the moment (BC Rich, Charvel Jackson) and some classics (strats & Teles), the owner of the local music shop told me I should come in and play an Alpine White LP Custom he had just received from the factory. It was, he said, the "pick of the litter". My mom drove me to the shop (I was too young to drive). I sat down, played it, and knew immediately that this was "the one." We bought it that night. That was 20 years ago. I've since played vintage strats, jacksons, PRSs; I've played the field, as it were. But nothing ever compares to the LP. There is much to criticize - the single cutaway, the weight of a ton of bricks, the lack of that single coil chunky sound. But strap on this axe, crank up a nice warm Class A tube amp, hit a wailing bended note with a good vibrato, and you will be in love. The instrument grows with you, rewarding every improvement, keeping pace with every new technique, adapting to any style with grace and ease. It is a far better instrument than I am an instrumentalist. I learn from it, not on it. For twenty years it has inspired me to improve.

I was highly disappointed with this guitar after hearing such good things about it. Quality was poor, paint clearly flawed, pickups where scratched. Action was set up terribly, strings where to low, caused major buzzing. The toggle switch is so flimsy that it could break with a single wrong flick. The body is heavy, uncomfortable, and overall cumbersome. I tried this guitar through every amp in the store (Marshall, Fender, Mesa, Vox, etc?) and none delivered a suitable tone for any style of music. The sounds where dry and lacked any kind of flavor. If you want a quality guitar, get an sg or a les paul classic, because this thing isn?t worth the time, money, or frustration.

Comments about Gibson Custom Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar:
i bought this guitar brand new.i own several other guitars, gretsch ,fender, and i always come back to this one.heavy, but plays as smooth as butter and always stays in tune.if you are knocking one of these out of tune ,quit playing.
Comments about Gibson Custom Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar:
I would recomend a LP Custom to anyone the sustain is incredible.
This is by far the best guitar you could ever own. The tone and feel are fantastic, I have wanted one for 20 years and finaly bought one last year. (2010)
It is worth every penny.
Comments about Gibson Custom Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar:
I have had my LP Custom for about 5 years. It is by far the nicest guitar I have ever played in my life. However there are a few setbacks that seem to be very, very, very common among Les Pauls. 1. The neck design is awful, many crack or snap. (it cost me a lot to get mine fixed) And 2. It is EXTREMELY heavy. But besides those problems it is an amazing guitar and sounds phenomenal.
Comments about Gibson Custom Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar:
when i got this guitar i thought "WOW i cant believe i paid $4000 for a axe !" but when i played it more and more i saw why the cost is so high... this thing is one of the best i have ever played! i read a comment from another buyer that said he had problems with his guitar goin out of tune.... i assure you i have no such problem with this beast! it is VERY,VERY HEAVY that may be a downside to long stage gigs , but this thing has sustain for days.and the tone is warm and bright. if you have the $$$ get this... you wont regret it..
Comments about Gibson Custom Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar:
I have two Les Paul Customs. I have a 1980 Silverburst that plays like butter - thinner than average neck, not too heavy body, killer warm pickups and easy tension on the fretboard (I use nine guage strings tuned to standard E). Then I have a 2005 in Alpine White and sometimes I wonder, "What the f-?" It's insanely heavy, which is okay because it reminds you the guitar costs almost $4000. But the tension (again, nines tuned to E) isn't as smooth and it goes out of tune often. I used to think the truss rod was off but now I think the nut is cut too high. The neck is fatter and not as tapered as my older LP. Don't get me wrong...the guitar is built with fine wood and hardware. I just don't feel it plays like A Les Paul Custom. What's up with that, Gibson?
Comments about Gibson Custom Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar:
The 1st guitar I played in 1978 was a black 1975 L.P. Custom and I've wanted one since. I went thru a Flying V, Schenker stage and owned a bunch of other Gibsons till 2006 when I took the plunge ! I got a Tri-Sunburst "68" Re-Issue but didn't like the "57" Classic pickups so I exchanged it for an Alpine White Custom with Gold hardware. I stuck a TP-6 Fine-Tuning Tailpeice on it as I do with all my Gibsons and I just LOVE it !! It STILL looks like day 1 cuz I BABY this sucker ! One of the nicest guitars I've EVER owned. Sometimes I'll pull it out and catch myself staring at it for long periods ! It's that beautiful ! The workmanship is beyond good. What can I say, it's a U.S.A. GIBSON LES PAUL ! just GET ONE !
Comments about Gibson Custom Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar:
I had just received a pretty nice lump sum of money, and having played the same guitar for 12 years, i decided to go to Guitar Center and just look around. I honestly didn't plan on shelling out for a new guitar, but thought I'd window shop and just look around. I walked in the door and was headed for the guitar section when my friend tapped me on the shoulder and said "look at that!" It was this amazing ebony gibson les paul custom with the gold hardware. My mouth hit the floor. I figured i'd play it just for kicks but no way was i shelling out almost 4k for a guitar. I got it, plugged it in, hit my first chord on it.. and knew it was coming home with me. Get this if u have the means. U won't regret it.
Comments about Gibson Custom Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar:
Ok, This guitar is arguably the best guitar ever made. I have several other guitars but this one blows all the others out of the water. AMAZING tone very warm the midrange is perfect, the inlays look incredible you can play anything on this guitar and it will sound amazing and yes i mean ANYTHING!!!
Comments about Gibson Custom Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar:
My Gibson Les Paul Custom came to me with a chunk out of the body, 4 of 6 tuner pegs broken, and a craked neck.i would have thought that a Gibson Les Paul custom would have beaten my Epiphone Les Paul '57 reissue, and My Gibson SG JR. but i was wrong.
Comments about Gibson Custom Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar:
This guitar is a pretty good guitar. When I was looking at my freinds I was a little nervose on what the out come would be. Once I got the guitar, It felt like all the other Les Pauls couldnt match. This is a solid, playable axe! I hightly recomend it.
