OVERVIEW

Legendary tone and distinction with a figured maple top that's enhanced by its transparent finish.

The Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Custom Figured Maple Electric Guitar in Trans Red has a beautifully figured maple top that was hand-selected to be shown off by a transparent finish. The mahogany back shares the same transparent finish. A one-piece mahogany neck and solid mahogany body provide plenty of warm tone. A maple fingerboard adds some bright attack while 490R and 498T Gibson humbuckers deliver warm rhythm and hot, solid lead sounds. Gibson also includes gold hardware in a tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, as well as a bound body, neck, and headstock.

Comments about Gibson Custom Les Paul Custom Figured Maple Electric Guitar in Trans Red:

I bought this model a couple years ago. I must say, I love it. I always seem to find myself gravitating to it when I'm recording because it just has some type of feel to it that my other customs do not have.

I WILL say however, the stock 498T bridge pickup was HORRID. In fact tried to return it but decided to just give the rest of the guitar a try by trying replacing the pickup to a burst bucker PRO.

"Don't cut off your nose to spite your face" I guess is the situation I tried to avoid.

After that was done, LOVE IT. Its a life keeper and I'm very happy to own it.

A lot of the traditionalists don't like the maple fretboards (even though gibson did that way back in the 70s) but I feel it brings a very different feel to the instrument that really makes it lovely. Its very smooth and feels like you can pick up speed with the maple.

The only issue I have with gibson is their pickup inconsistencies. It's pretty bad. I have 4 customs and they all sound pretty different from each other. And It's I feel a direct correlation from the fact that they have some pretty inconsistencies. If i could give it a 4.5 stars, I would. But all the work and wood and everything else behind this guy would be a shame to dismiss because of a silly issue with a pickup. So If you find yourself in this conundrum, go out and buy a burstbucker or Bareknuckle, Duncan or whatever you have played that defines your sound. Itll make the difference.

Not ALL their pickups are bad. I've only found myself replacing two of their pickups. But a 50% failure rate to me is pretty bad honestly.

I'd recommend trying out one, its a pretty rad and underrated take on a classic guitar that really started a world all in its own.
