Solid gold sound. I love this guitar!Tony Iommi from Black Sabbath and Glen Buxton from the Alice Cooper group were very tasteful in their choice. I run Mine through a Maestro Fuzztone, Echoplex and into a Fender Bandmaster Reverb, It sounds like... Well, it is just simply not describable. It's too great. So, ask Yourself if You're worthy of this guitar, and if so, join the rock legends that made the Gibson Les Paul SG custom their weapon of choice. Buy one!Another note: I also own a Fender Highway One Tele, The Tele is more suitable for surf rock, and most blues tunes, so they have two completely different sounds. Do some research as to what tone You want, because the SG doesn't cover the whole spectrum. I reccomend the Telecaster for Your single-coil needs, but, if You're just after the Rock tone, By all means, this is the perfect guitar.

I waited 2 months for this 'custom shop' guitar, spent a lot of hard earned money for it, you know how it came to me? with a bunch of chips 1 through the finish. The maestro was twisted around so that it put pressure on and thus cracked one of the tome knobs. The guitar would look beatiful if it came how it was supposed to, which should have been perfect for this price. Musiciansfriend blamed the custom shop because they said they deliver it factry sealed, and Gibson told me it wouldn't have left the shop in that condition. I would normally blame this on bad shipping, but I ordered an SG Standard from Musicians friend 2 months before this and it came SEVERELY scratched up, I returned it and had to wait until they had it in stock to replace it, not to mention the countless hours on the phone with customer service and carrying the boxes to fedex. I didn't get this SG Les Paul replaced this time, and they didn't even offer me a discount on any other products I requested even though I've done so much $$$$ business with them over time. I returned it for a refund and told them I'd never do business with them again. I went down to Rudy's Guitar shop in Manhattan and looked at the guitar (which was flawless) and bought it the old fashioned way. Where's the quality control and where's the customer service???

Comments about Gibson Custom Les Paul SG Custom Maestro:

This is by far the best guitar I have ever played and owned. I have played guitars that are triple the price and they don't compare. I thought I was going to have to set it up when I got it, but right out of the box it was perfect. It's balanced and comfortable to play standing up. The Gibson pick ups have an amazing sound and they really make this guitar perfect for every genre you can think of. I haven't played any of my other electrics since I got this one. The only bad thing that's not even worth mentioning is it gets out of tune easy but that's only if you try to dive bomb with the maestro which isn't made for that, its made for more of a gentle vibrato effect which is awesome for solos. If you don't like that than get the version with the stop bar and don't worry about it. All in all, it's a flawless guitar that I will play for the rest of my life.

Comments about Gibson Custom Les Paul SG Custom Maestro:

The Maestro just needs Graphitall (GHS)guitar lube. It's known as "the professional secret". Apply the grease anywhere the strings touch metal so they don't bind. You'll be amazed how well the Maestro takes to it. I was happy and relieved. This is the ultimate guitar thanx to the lube

Comments about Gibson Custom Les Paul SG Custom Maestro:

I handled one at a shop. Not quite the same as my SG Custom Deluxe. Pickup mountings in mine are individual. Neck was appreciable different - just fine but not as finely detailed as mine. (Breathe on mine and its grounded). Sounded fine to me . I long ago ditched my Maestro - never stayed in tune but now hardtail solid.

Comments about Gibson Custom Les Paul SG Custom Maestro:

This is a beautiful guitar. I've played it only once at my local music store and it was one of the most amazing guitars to have ever been in my hands. I mostly play blues or rock, and if you're into that type of stuff, Dan of the Black Keys also uses this very guitar.Anywho, I would reccommend it to anyone. It's a great guitar. Of course it's expensive, but it's not just because of the Gibson name slapped on. This is one hell of a quality guitar.

Comments about Gibson Custom Les Paul SG Custom Maestro:

I think this guitar is GREAT! I have never played it, but I have hered Tony Iommi use it in Iron Man, and I believe that Angus Young used it, too. Who wouldn't love this guitar.
