Gibson Custom

A Custom Shop rendition of a blast from the past.

The SG originally was intended as a Les Paul redesign and addressed what many considered the 2 main issues players had with the Les Paul: weight and upper fretboard access. Les Paul himself didn't like it so the Les Paul stuck to its original style and the new Les Paul design was renamed the SG Standard. Even though Les Paul didn't approve of it, countless rockers loved it and made it one of all-time hard rockin' favorites.

Like all VOS (Vintage Original Spec) Series instruments, the SG Standard VOS is handcrafted for comfort and playability in the Gibson Custom Shop. The construction, neck profile, hardware, and electronics are period accurate, and a special nitrocellulose finish treatment gives it the patina of a gently aged vintage guitar. Includes Gibson Custom Shop case, and a certificate of authenticity.

Overall:
I love this guitar, the neck is beautiful and very smooth, the frets are in there good and don't have any give. The only thing I don't like is the Gibson crown logo on the headstock I've owned a real Gibson SG from 1961 and 1962 and let me say the crown has become slightly smaller and the spikes on the crown have become smaller, however that is not the only problem it also doesn't have a tremelo (well, it does on the other model but it isn't a historic one from the period this guitar is reissued from) but other than a few details I would have to say everything else on this guitar is great, like how they age the finish so it looks like it is old but also well taken care of.I also noticed that the clear coat over the paint is very thin so that will allow the SG to age nicely and quickly so you could almost pass this thing off as an original. The pickups are good for rock and blues, but with some good distortion you could even play some techno, the pickups in the guitar are awesome however they aren't high output but they sound good with or without distortion.Get this guitar believe me, it's a lot of money but I know what I'm saying with 29 years of experiance under my belt.
