I got this guitar as a christmas present from my parents and was floored when I saw it under the tree. This thing is a beauty. The picture doesn't do this guitar justice at all. The finish is matte, but dang, it looks cool. While I love the gloss of my Les Paul, the satin look from the ES is very very cool. When I first got it I didn't have my amp with me so I had to play unplugged for a day or two, and acoustic this guitar is a joy. It sounds SO dang cool. But the real surprise is when you plug this thing in. Clean you can go from crisp, to jazzy to almost a real acoustic tone. Distorted this bad boy rocks, what was real cool is that I played full range chords with heavy distortion that sounded great! leads are toneful and chords have alot of chunk and clarity at the same time. As far as playability is concerned the neck on the guitar is as shallow as a wading pool, just the way I like it! the big body is unusual at first, but its something that I still love about this guitar. This is a gorgeous guitar. perfect for someone like me, who wants the Gibson quality, the es-335 vibe, but doesn't have the opportunity to trade in his car for a new guitar.

I really love the sound and feel of this guitar, but have been very disappointed with the quality. It has been in the shop 3 or 4 times for tuning problems due to bent intonation screw, bridge not securely fastened to the body, and very loose tuners. First 2 problems repaired by a great tech in Akron, OH but Gibson would not ok upgrade to Grover tuners. They sent new tuners, which were slightly better than the originals. I hope Gibson will stand by their reputation of being a quality American guitar company and help me out. If you're thinking of buying this guitar, look at the tuners closely and practice getting it tuned. If difficult to do, reconsider buying!!!!

This guitar kicks ass, the tone versitlity is amazing. I can get a perfect tone for sounding like Chuck Berry (Johnny B. Goode) or some of the softer tones in Stairway To Heaven (Jimi Page), this is the best choice for any one looking for the Gibson hollow body sound with out going broke over its cousin es-335.
It's a stripped down es335. I bought it because I hate Gibson finishes, they gum up anywhere you touch them. This guitar gave me all of the sound of a 335 and it had a finish which was easily sanded off, allowing me to have a local guy apply a very cool custom paintjob with a nice hard acrylic finish on it. The red and the natural finishes are acceptable, if you can get past the fact that the neck on the natural is a different color than the body. I find the brown finish to be rather disgusting. The pickups are very live and give a nice thick Gibson tone that you just can't get from another guitar.
Great guitar...it's really a ES-335 without the bells and whistles. Great acoustic sound, massive distorted sound. One could easily argue that the lack of a plastic coating brings out the tone better. Fast neck. Great for heavy rock or just about anything. Very versitile.

i already own an srv strat and wanted another guitar that could give more of a jazz tone. This guitar plays great and is a great value. if you want a great blues/jazz sound without the price tag of a 335 this is the way to go!

I got a 333 with upgraded hardware and electronics (nickel covers on the 57 humbuckers), pickguard and grovers. I had a 335 for a few years in the 80s and this is every bit as tight and versatile. Big bluesy tone, or an intense crunch, and a sweet warm pop for jazzy riffs. Gibson has a winner with this axe. I got a $2k guitar for significantly less. I am happy. The neck is really great, smooth and fast. Big, tall frets for sure footedness, and great range of sounds accross the pickups. Upgrading a 333 is a great idea. I wonder if more people might choos to do it.
I love this guitar, I play it non-stop and I own a lot of guitars (two Les Pauls, an old kalamazoo, a beatle bass and an ovation). I recommend it whole-heartedly. And i should know...I'm better than you.
I've owned this guitar a while and seriously it's amazing. For the money you pay you get one serious Gibson a almost 1/2 what an ES-333 or ES-345. The pick-ups are very versital, from heavy dist. to very clean jazz, crazy solos, and funky chordal work. Advice to everyone, mess with the tone knobs and hella turn them to all the way to 1 for a deep bass sound (for all you puck and alternitive rockers out there). If you're thinking about it think no more, and if you own one you know what I'm talking about. Someday my wife will hate me cause I spend more time with my guitar than her, the guitar never complains either. I'm just kidding.
I bought this guitar about 3 months ago to go along with my American Strat. Although I love the speed of my Fender, I really missed the tone quality of a good Gibson. The 333 does not have the high gloss finish of it's big brother, the 335, but plays and sounds every bit as good. The satin finish of the 333 is still very sharp. I bought the natural finish, and just love it's simple presentation. I've played professionally on and off for many years, with blues roots. If your looking for a classy, high quality, great sounding Gibson, you just can't go wrong with this outstanding guitar.
