When I was born my father bought me a guitar and kept it tucked away until I was old enough to play. This ES 335 is for my daughter who is now 6 months old and plan on giving it to her for her 16th birthday. This 335 block was built the day we brought her home from the hospital.
I couldn't be happier with the guitar. The slim neck will be perfect for a woman's hand and deal out any tone she'll ever need from a guitar. From ska, rock, blues, jazz and country the 335 can do it all. Now can I just resist the daily temptation to play it?
Has everything a professional player needs. I was a little concerned about the burstbucker pups instead of the 59's as I've heard they are a bit hotter, but was pleasantly surprised. They are bright but find the additional clarity while playing inside jazz chords quite nice. You can always get darker with a twist of the tone knob.
This is where I was really blown away. I've heard some negative feedback regarding quality of fit and finish over the last few years with Gibson, but this 335 block is perfect. Nice color (tea burst), binding flush and uniform, frets smooth and leveled, nut cut perfect, pickups balanced and adjusted.
I have to thank Musicians Friend Private Reserve staff in making sure this arrived in perfect playing condition.
Anything from Gibson's custom shop is going to spendy but if you consider this is a lifelong investment for an iconic guitar....and you can afford it, you wont be disappointed.

Great for blues, jazz or rock kind of a warm woody sound that is not really good for metal. A little heavy. Put together well and a nice case. Not sure if i like the bursbuckers though.

This guitar is expensive but I love mine. It sounds as good or better than it looks. I got one 3 years ago and it came with the 57 classic humbuckers which sound better than the Burstbuckers in my opinion. It all depends on the type of music you play as the Burstbuckers do have more "bite". After 3 years, I do not regret the purchase and still do not know of a better guitar for the price. A vary adaptable guitar for almost any style of music.

What tone! Played through my Twin Reverb I get great mellow jazz tones. Played through my Marshall half-stack I get nice crunchy classic rock sounds. This surely is an all around player. Only gripe was that it could have been set-up from Gibson a little better. But, after a little tweaking got it going nice. Great looker as well.

Really nothing bad to say about this guitar. The neck plays like butter, and the sounds can be sweet or growly. I'm simply totally happy with this instrument. I've been playing for 45 years and have owned 4 different Gibsons, 4 Stratocasters, and 2 Ibanez's in my lifetime, so I know a good guitar when I see one. This one is a beauty.

This is my 2nd 335 (the first was stolen) and I absolutely love this model! The semi-hollow body helps the tone come out extra creamy. Besides sounding and feeling great, this is also a beautiful guitar. I feel great playing it all-around. My only complaint is that Gibson is extremely expensive, especially compared to Fender, but I suppose it helps you cherrish and appreciate your instrument more.
