Comments about Gibson ES-Les Paul Special Electric Guitar:

These are great guitars at a reasonable (for Gibson ES series) price. The pickup description has changed from MHS (Memphis Historic Spec) to '57 Classics recently, so I don't really know which pickups are in it, but they sound great. It is nice and light-weight. I have no idea why Gibson charges 2-3 thousand for plywood guitars, but this one seems like a steal at around $1500. Neck is rounded and on the thicker side, which suits me perfectly. Supposedly it is maple rather than mahogany. The fretboard is baked maple which is a much maligned material, but I love it. Looks similar to rosewood but is less porous...very similar in feel to ebony: very smooth. I'd rather have that than Richlite (man-made composite) any day. The specs also have incorrect fretboard inlay info. They are dot inlays, not block inlays. The picture is more accurate than the spec list. The Gibson and Les Paul silk screened logos are very dark and hard to see for some reason, but no big deal. They are great guitars and over $1700 CHEAPER than the traditional carved top version (these are flat tops, therefore they are the "Special" model).

Comments about Gibson ES-Les Paul Special Electric Guitar:

Love this Les Paul! Plays great and its light! I thought the sound would suffer because of the light weight, but it doesn't. Love the sound and this is a must to have for all Les Paul fans.
