OVERVIEW

An updated 7-string version of one of the most coveted powerhouses of rock and roll.

With its angular, asymmetrical body and pointed headstock, the famed Gibson Explorer was light years ahead of its time when it was first introduced in 1958. The 7-String Explorer electric guitar continues that radical heritage in every way.

The most central feature of any Explorer guitar is its mahogany body, which provides players a well-balanced, weight-reduced alternative, with absolutely no compromises in tone, sustain, or performance. The neck on the Gibson Explorer has the best of both worlds”it is a hybrid between the '50s rounded contour and the '60s slim-taper profile. Other features include chrome hardware, Tune-O-Matic bridge with a stopbar tailpiece, and mini Grover tuners.

The 7-String Gibson Explorer is fitted with an EMG 707 (neck position), features and an Alnico V magnet loaded wide aperture coils that beef up that low B tone and at the same time provide a more responsive super tight overall sound. The EMG 81-7 (bridge position) is its perfect compliment, working best for high volume overdrive and amps with a master volume and producing a razor sharp attack with incredible sustain for brilliant soloing.

Awesome 7 string!!!!

By Psycho~Shredder~~

from Cincinnati, ohio

I own this guitar and a few others. 25.5 inch scale and 24.750 scale like this Ex7. I tune my guitars a bit differenly than some. on this guitar I put a hybrid GHS-010 through 52's on the 2 through 7 position tuned in "D" standard, then on the 1st position or smallist string I use an .008 pulled up to a "HI G". an extra hi shred string. The pickups on this guitar are a great combination! EMG-707Hz at the neck and a active EMG-707-81 at the bridge is a HOT SET UP!!!!Great crafsmenship and very fast neck set-up!!! IT's a GIBSON!... awesome axe!!!!

The Gibson 7 string explorer is awesome. One of the best guitars i own. The action on this guitar right out of the box was great. Even if you drop tune it trust me i have put it in every drop tuneing you can think of. This is a AMAZING the pickups are very clear and NOT muddy. Gibson has got this one right!!!

Amazing guitar!

By mmiklaw

from Central Texas

I was looking to get a high end 7-string guitar for graduation, since I play in B with my metal band and standard E in my blues band (one 7-string to pull double duty). I was thinking about going the custom ESP route until I saw this. Basically had my exact desired specs and honestly it could not play or sound better. It may be a touch expensive, but honestly I think its totally worth it. It sounds/feels/plays/looks fantastic and has made for a wonderful new weapon in my ever growing arsenal. Highly recommended.
