A rare legendary 12-string model for lefties!
The rare left-handed 12-string Gibson Hummingbird Acoustic Guitar is crafted with a solid premium AAA-grade Sitka spruce top decked out in a special '60s vintage cherry burst finish. The guitar's back and sides are constructed from mahogany, giving the Hummingbird perfectly balanced midrange tone with unbiased rich lows and clear treble. This Hummingbird's body is crafted with single "X" bracing that is similar to the pattern in the vintage Gibson J-30 guitar.
A true legend among acoustic instruments, the Gibson Hummingbird was first introduced in 1960 as Gibson's earliest square-shoulder dreadnought. Superb for all styles of playing, with a capacity for rich, first-position folk chords and intricate solo playing, the Hummingbird quickly became the icon of the Gibson acoustic line. It was a favorite among legends like Gram Parsons and Keith Richards. Today's left-handed Gibson Hummingbird is made to the specs of the first model produced in 1960, and still stands as one of the finest—and most beautiful—acoustic guitars in the world.
The Hummingbird guitar's Grover original Rotomatic tuners are an engineering marvel, with abundant style and performance exactly suited to the Hummingbird. With a gear ratio of 14:1, the Rotomatic machines deliver precision tuning. A countersunk tension screw helps guitarists regulate the tuning tension to any degree desired. Special lubricant inside the gearbox provides smooth and accurate tuning stability.
Hummingbird aesthetic appointments include split-parallelogram mother-of-pearl fingerboard inlays; a crown headstock inlay; and an elaborate 3-point tortoise pickguard with engraved hummingbird motif. Gibson includes a case, and a certificate of authenticity with each left-handed Hummingbird 12-string.
