A versatile semi-hollow guitar inspired by the Foo Fighters' frontman
With a set mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard, diamond soundholes and Burstbucker pickups, this Inspired By Dave Grohl DG-335 guitar is perfect for Foo Fighters fans or anyone who wants the versatility of a semi-hollow electric. Hard rock, classic, pop, swing, billy styles and more are all fair game with this beauty. Built around the comfortably-sized ES-335 body, you're likely to find yourself using this axe for just about everything you play. The '50s neck shape is easy on your hand whether you're playing chords or lead, and the combination of Grover tuners and the fixed bridge keep tuning time to a minimum.
This electric guitar is inspired by Grohl's much loved Trini Lopez signature model. The model, created by the artisans at the Gibson Custom Shop with the input of Grohl himself, will provide rock fans a chance to channel the Foo Fighters' renowned lead singer.
Grohl has always been a long-time fan of the Trini Lopez signature model guitar that Gibson built from 1964-1971. The Trini Lopez model was a striking take on Gibson's classic ES-335 semi-hollow body guitar which is a hybrid between a solidbody and a hollowbody. Grohl has a particular love for the Trini Lopez in a rare Pelham Blue color that was used by the Gibson Custom Shop in producing this limited model.
Dave Grohl's Inspired By DG-335 guitar has the classic Firebird-style headstock with six-on-a-side tuners set into an ES-335 style semi-hollow body. The body of the guitar has stylish diamond f-holes and a double cutaway design. The inlays on the rosewood fretboard are acrylic split diamond which is a unique feature that remains from the original Trini Lopez model. Grohl's taste is even expressed through the pickups which are BurstBucker 1 in the neck and BurstBucker 2 in the bridge. These pickups are within the original Patent Applied For humbucking spec, known for their ability to create clean and articulate distortion and responsible for helping to deliver the amazing tones that Grohl has become famous for while fronting the ever popular Foo Fighters.

It is odd that Gibson has run into this problem with woodnow that they have some hot axes to make. They made a semiDG 335 that has aes3 on a side tuning head but diamondcuts like a trini or dg, those also were gone and were not advertized as limited edition. Who knows They looked fine and were in diferent colors. I think these will come back or dg has a suite against them for the diamonds.
This is well made. This is not a beginner guitar. The neck is somewhat fat,It's not skinny like any tele may a fat Guild. The pups are both screamers. The axe has a very distinctive sound.I've only played 1 335 and it was a dot and it was a long time ago so no good comparison. The volume and tone knobs work better than most Gibsons.
I own 56 guitars and this is the best Gibson rivaled only by a Gretch Stills edition.
I think this is going to keep going up. They made 100 Pelham Blue and 200 Black. Theat is all folks for a DG 335 unless they break their word. These are keepers if you can find one, even if it's broke, send it to Gibson and fix it.
This is a guitar for many senses. It sounds, looks, feels and even smells great. I have it in Pelham blue and the finish is flawless and glows. Set up nicely out of the box, the twin Burstbuckers are versatile for different music tastes with nice bright, clean tones or loud, growling distortion. "Everlong" sounds great on it. This guitar was a gift from my wife. The only reason I didn't cry tears of joy when I got it is 'cause I didn't want to damage the finish. This is a sweet, top notch instrument with Gibson quality evident throughout.
I'm not one to buy a guitar without playing it. I saw Dave play this guitar in Nashville and wanted to more about it. After doing a short search I found out about this guitar. Knowing that it was based on the Lopas model, I did more research. I took the plunge and bought it. Out of the box it looked beautiful... and still does. Because I never played a Firebird, I didn't know the neck was thicker than a regular 335 neck. Im use to a smaller neck........ But I will get use to it. I own a Strat, Les paul, Washburn x150, Electra MPC, and others, but this is the bomb. The pickups are super hot.. will smoke my 93 Les Paul. My hat is off to Gibson and Dave G. for a great guitar!
AWESOME! I got mine in Pelham Blue, just like DG himself. The action is everything you'd expect from a 335, the finish is brilliant, and the burstbucker pickups sound great. My only complaint is that on the custom fitted case, the lock doesn't work, due to a misalignment of the lock fitting. But hey, I'm not going to try and fix it, that's rock and roll. This is a beautiful guitar and I'm very grateful to own it.
The DG 335 is an awesome beautiful guitar with a sparkling color and beasty sound coming from the Burstbuckers 1 & 2. Playing the Neck just feels so natural and smoothImportant note on the limited edition is that the 300 copies that have been made also include the Ebony DG 335's.
Before I rave, let me make three things perfectly clear: I have only SEEN it be played - True to form, it is expensive in the Gibson style - I don't normally like semi or full hollow body guitars. That said, I STRONGLY desire to own one of these axes! The colour is sweet, the sound is awe-inspiring... I just need to save mad money to get one.
I received a DG-335 a month ago and haven't stopped playing it. It is twice the guitar of any of the three original Trini Lopez's that I have. The neck is a medium to fat 50's profile, the pickups are loud and balanced, the strings fit properly on the fretboard, and there is convincing attention to detail. It's a very fine instrument.Steve
ive always been a huge fan of dave grohl (nirvana and the foos are my two favorite bands(, so when i saw this guitar i was extremely excited. i finally got enough money last week and bought one, and it came yesterday. ITS AMAZING. i own a fender stratocaster, gibson les paul black beauty, fender jagstang, and a hagstrom super swede, and none of them even come close to this guitar. it has a great sound and feel, and it looks cool too. this is definitely my favorite gibson. it is very expensive, and that the only thing i didnt like about it. but other than that, this is a really great guitar.
