I own several Gibsons and Fenders. All American-made and all excellent guitars. But from the first time I picked up this guitar, I could see that it blows all those others away. This is THE most playable guitar I own. The maple fretboard is as good as ebony in my opinion, the frets are dressed perfectly, and this guitar feels and sounds as perfect as I could imagine a guitar to be. I bought this guitar as a Les Paul fan with high expectations of obtaining another great guitar, but I was not expecting it to be this awesome. I can't say enough great things about this guitar. Baked Maple is a great fretboard material, do not be turned off by it. Gibson should use this material for more guitars in their catalog.
Classic electronics design: two humbuckers, separate tone and volume controls for each. No need to improve on this classic setup.
The Baked Maple fretboard is a great feature - it feels as good as ebony and it produces a much brighter tone than rosewood. It really makes this guitar stand out from other Les Pauls.
Split-diamond headstock and large block inlays normally found on models twice as expensive.
I own two Gibsons from the late 90s, and those are awesome guitars so my expectations were high. But when I received this guitar I was blown away at how well it was setup and how solid it feels. The tuners are nice and tight, the finish is perfection, the frets are perfectly dressed, the intonation was spot on. For this price I can't believe they could make such a quality instrument.
This is the cheapest guitar Gibson currently sells with the split-diamond headstock and large block inlays. Those features are usually reserved for their top-of-the-line guitars. But they are more than just window dressing to boost sales - this guitar has earned them based on its incredible quality.

Very heavy almost 12 pounds! A little fret buzz and action not as low as I would have liked but, the tone is ledgend. The maple fret board does feel like ebony, plays and looks great. This guitar will be with me for a very long time.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Classic Custom Electric Guitar:
I was skeptical at first, having not particularly liked the few Les Pauls I'd played in the past. But the reviews and the price convinced me to give this one a try.
SO glad I did. This quickly became my favorite guitar, and has curtailed my "guitar acquisition syndrome" for the first time in years.
Is it perfect? No, but then I can't offhand think of anything wrong with it. Perhaps I wish it were a bit lighter, but then it wouldn't have the rich, thick sound and wonderful sustain. If I had to nitpick, I wish it had locking tuners.
It came set up noticeably better than other Gibsons I've owned. And the maple fretboard is wonderful (and like everyone else says, is several shades darker than the pictures -- mine is very close to black).
While so many complain that Gibson's are overpriced, here is an example of a guitar that, if anything, is underpriced. Love it to death.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Classic Custom Electric Guitar:
Great finish, great guitar, the price is right for this custom, I would rather have the Classic Custom, then one costing twice as much. Gibson did a really good job with this Les Paul, and I hope it is discontinued so mine goes up in value. :D

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Classic Custom Electric Guitar:
Excellent craftmanship.
Set up and action is perfect, don't need to do any upgrades just plug and play.
The sound coming out of this guitar is very rich
in harmonics and it sustain the notes very well.
I purchased this guitar without even playing it
and I'm happy for taking that chance cause this is a great Christmas present for me.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Classic Custom Electric Guitar:
I love this guitar! I got the gold top and it is just gorgeous. I really like the sounds of the 57 pickups. They are great for the rock, blues, and worship music that I play. The weight is just perferct if you want that Les Paul feel (I think mine is around 10 pounds.) If you are not sure of the baked maple fretboard, done be. I thought the fretboard felt just like Ebony and mine was darker then the pictures. I have always wanted a Custom and finally got one. I would pick one up if I were you while they are still making them.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Classic Custom Electric Guitar:
Absolutely stunning guitar. The action was a little high right out of the box, but easily tweaked. A+ for workmanship. Don't let the baked maple fingerboard fool you, it's fast and comfortable. It's actually several shades darker than what the picture would have you believe, almost indistinguishable from rosewood. This ax gets my highest marks, rock on!
