Never ordered a guitar online before, not something I would normally do but couldn't get this particular model anywhere else, and didn't want to buy used. Was a bit nervous but pulled the plug, and I am sincerely glad that I did...not one blem, flaw, finish issue (love the goldtop, very nice "bullion")....absolutely perfect...I did "slightly raise the bridge on the high E side, but that's just personal preference....I absolutely prefer the mini-humbucker to the full-sized, but I have always gravitated towards Strats and "that" sound, so that probably accounts for my love of Deluxes (not to mention I think the guitar "looks" better with the mini's)...anyway, the guitar plays and sounds great, don't be afraid of the 50's neck (I was) because after two minutes, I started thinking "It's sort of nice to have something to hang onto for a change"...wouldn't throw away my thin-necked Strat, but I wanted something different and this fits the bill, plus it really is comfortable to play, and I don't have big hands, by any stretch...need to add straplocks, but that goes for any Les Paul...gave it a 4.5 for value simply because I'd always "like" to pay less...guitar came well-packed, only took a week (roughly---cross border). Oh, and anyone who says you can't get that "singing, violin sustain" with the mini's, sorry that you can't, but I can...all in all, great guitar.

I'll be brief as my previous review on this guitar did not "make the cut". In any event, it seems that the quality issues regarding the manufacturer of this guitar are true (at least in my experience). The 1st L.P. Deluxe I received had finish flaws (build-up of finish by neck joint, surface scuffs/scratches,etc.) and other cosmetic issues (i.e. volume knob digging into the finish). The wood quality was hardly better than a 2X4 and weighed a ton. Musicians Friend was great and promptly sent out another, which I must admit was "acceptable", but far from the quality one would expect from such a venerable American guitar maker.

        cryin' shame

        By tubetone130

I had an original LP Deluxe Goldtop in the 1970's. A sad d-i-v-o-r-c-e story made me sell it. Anyway, it's a cryin' shame this was discontinued or I'd buy a re-issue in a heartbeat!!! Too Bad!! Best axe I've had in 40 years of playing.

        Gibson Les Paul Deluxe

        By Mr. Blue Tone

        from Los Angeles

Amazing price for a real Gibson Les Paul. Exquisit craftsmanship and quality. This guitar has that classic Les Paul sound, solid and creamy and really bites in the treble position. Setup was nice and it plays great. I also have a 68 Custom but not for taking out to gigs. The Deluxe is a perfect sub and does everythng my Custom does without worring about banging it up. I love it.

        Red, Red Wine

        By RammerJammer

I got my LP Deluxe in February, and it is now September and I have had many happy months playing my new favorite axe. I love the Mini Humbuckers, they seem to just scream when I dig in. The finish is just gorgeous and the fit is very good also, though I did have to tighten the neck bucker up just a hair. I highly recommend this guitar if you have the funds to buy it.

        Mini-humbuckers make this a standout

        By Michael Behuniak

        from Seattle, WA

The Deluxe is basically a plain-top Les Paul Standard, with solid color finishes (the woodgrain is visible on my Wine-Red), and mini-humbuckers rather than the traditional regular size humbuckers. The mini-humbuckers deliver tones that distinguish the Deluxe from other Les Paul models: the bridge pickup is bright and trebly without being thin or shrill, and the neck pickup also is clear and articulate, on both clean and over-drive settings.Les Paul purists may not care for the brighter tones, but the Deluxe fills another niche that easily fits most music styles, and is a worthy addition to anyone's guitar arsenal.

        I'm loving it

        By The last fan

        from Hicktown, Nebraska

I was checking out guitars on vacation. I tried ESP's, fenders, and other les Paul's. This girl blows them out of the water. I tried a les Paul standard before this; I thought nothing would beat it. This did. It has the best bite you could imagine and looks beautiful.

        Sweet Sweet Sweet Tone

        By TimeTested

        from Dallas, Texas

I have had the priveledge of playing on this guitar for the past five years and all I can say is "wow". The only thing I dislike about the LP is the weight but I was happy to overlook that because everything else about it is awesome.I play this as guitar along with a Strat and an 80's model Robin. I highly recomend a Gibson Les Paul to any experienced players but IF YOU ARE STILL JuST STARTING OUT I WOULD DEFINITLY RECOMEND BUYING A EPIPHONE LP. BUT NOTHING WILL TRULY SATISFY LIKE THE GIBSON once you have a bit of experience.

        MY FAVORITE

        By Anonymous

        from Undisclosed

Out of all my guitars I own all the way from Fenders to Gibson?s. My Les Paul is my favorite. I would recommend this guitar for some one that has been playing for a couple years and is good. There is also Epiphone Les Paul?s that you could get a little bit sooner.

        I LOVE MY DELUXE

        By Wally B (The Walrus)

        from SHARPSBURG, GA

I've lusted for a Les Paul Deluxe Goldtop since I was 16 (that's 32 years). When i was finally able to buy a Les Paul, the Deluxe Gold top was not available. Now I finally have the one I've always wanted and have sold my Les Paul Classic. The minihumbuckers sound fat and can be clean or just plain nasty. The bite really cuts through the mix and the neck is just what I've been looking for. Thanks to this site for hooking me up with that ax I've wanted for so long. My Deluxe is all the Les Paul I need! It's perfect!!
