The Gibson Les Paul Studio '70s Tribute Left-Handed Electric Guitar celebrates a great guitar from the past. It features pickups that have a new magnet and pole piece configuration with dual steel blades and a single Alnico V magnet. This more efficient design makes for improved output at less expense. The calibrated pickup winding offers balanced output in both rhythm and lead positions with increased output on the bridge pickup. Covered with solid chrome, these pickups produce higher output than previous mini humbucking pickups, yet still retain a vintage voice with plenty of chime.

First of all let me say by using the discount incentives that were being offered by Musicians Friend I got this guitar for a steal. My guitar arrived yesterday and it exceeded all of my expectations in everyway. I got the Gold Top and it is a satin finish so light reflects off the surface differently than it does the higher gloss finishes. Depending on how the light is hitting the surface the color can look anywhere from gold to copper to bronze. I love the neck as it is not too slim and not to chunky either. The set up and action were great out of the box. I simply tuned up and I was off and running. There was no string buzz and or issues with the frets being sharp. This is something others have mentioned in their reviews. The tone it produces out of the mini humbuckers is pure and classic Les Paul. With these pickups Country, Jazz, Blues, Classic Rock and even Hard Rock are easily achievable but I would venture to guess getting a Death Metal sound might require a little more work. Make no mistake these mini humbuckers put out but I don't believe the tone is suitable for really heavy music. This guitar is a little lighter than my LP Standard yet none of the tone seems to have been sacrificed. The baked maple fret board feels fine and responsive. Because this is a budget Les Paul, Gibson has employed some cost cutting measures in the manufacturing of these guitars. The back is painted black which is a non issue to me. There seems to be a very fine ridge where the fret boards mounts to the neck but you really have to be looking for it and you can't see it as much as feel it. It is not distracting in the least bit when playing. For this price there isn't a nicer guitar out there. This truly is a guitar that I am having trouble putting down. I recommend that if you are a lefty you should get one while you can. With Gibson you never know when these will disappear forever.

Well I'll just start by saying this is an interesting piece for any lefty and Gibson collector. Us lefties all to often get the short end of the stick when it come to prime quality or collectable guitars. So this was my chance to get something that wasnt black or cherry in finish. Farther more I can say I applaude Gibson on its effort to make some diverse lefty guitars. I opted for the gold top finish. Which I'll say thats one of the qualities I do like about this piece. The BODY is very even and very smooth. However the finsh along the neck is a bit thicker than the fret board giving it a hard sharp edge. The frets are a bit sharp on mine as well, plus the pick gaurd has a rough edge to it as well. The last draw back to this piece is I personally felt the action was a bit high on mine, but thats my opinion. Now some of the good qualities are the pick ups. They are pretty hot. Almost like a full humbucker, but with some of the tones you'd hear from a single coil. I'll say a very interesting tone. For the price I was glad to see that mine had actual Gibson pots and not some off brand. The intonation on mine is good, the cut of the nut is good, the tuners are quality. I'd say mine has somethings that need improving, but a Gibson LP for this price. It's not great, but it's not horrible.

This guitar is amazing for the price!! Maybe MF would sell more of them if they had a pic up of how it looks. The satin silverburst is really nice, and lets the grain of the mahogany show in the light. The guitar was a perfect setup/intonation out of the box, and the minihumbuckers and maple neck (toasted maple-looks like the standard rosewood)give it a perfect tone that is slightly brighter than a standard LP. Sustain for days. I love the larger headstock, and the angle is interesting (as it stands out from the standard LP). I cant say enough good about this thing, especially for the price!!
I'd recommend this to anybody. Its been hard to put down since I got it!!
