OVERVIEW

No-nonsense performance, classic tone, and a worn satin finish.

For full-throttle Les Paul thrills at a trimmed-down, no-nonsense price, look no further than the Les Paul Studio Satin. This guitar includes all the classic ingredients that have made the Les Paul Standard legendary since humbuckers first hit the scene in 1957, along with a familiar, played-in look and feel. Ever since its introduction more than a quarter of a century ago, the Les Paul Studio has proven a major favorite with guitarists looking for genuine Les Paul tone and performance in a down-to-business package that is light on frills, heavy on swagger and easy on the pocket. Now the Les Paul Studio Satin from Gibson USA brings the package together with legendary playability, two of Gibson' finest humbucking pickups, and the classic tonewood combination”including the maple top that' missing from many Studio models”that helped to make the Les Paul Standard famous in the first place. All this, and it looks great in your choice of Worn Cherry, Worn Brown, Blue Stain, Ebony Stain, Satin Yellow or Satin Fireburst, all in genuine nitrocellulose lacquer, with the pre-aged satin look and feel that so many guitarists prefer.

Just like the most revered Les Paul Standards of all time, the Les Paul Studio Satin starts with the classic tonewood combination of a mahogany body with solid carved maple top. Together, these woods offer outstanding tonal depth and richness from the mahogany, with superb clarity and œsnap from the maple. In this model, the strategic placement of several tone chambers enhances resonance while also reducing the guitar' overall weight considerably, without sacrificing an ounce of punch or sustain. And even in this more affordable instrument from Gibson USA, the glued-in, solid-mahogany neck is cut to the superior œquarter-sawn grain orientation for superior strength and optimum resonance transfer between neck and body. The neck is carved to a comfortably rounded ™50s profile that measures .818 at the 1st fret and .963 at the 12th. It is topped with a 22-fret fingerboard made from hard, brown baked maple, a wood selected for its sustain and bite. Traditional acrylic trapezoid inlays grace the board, but a lack of fingerboard and body binding help to keep costs down, while enhancing the raw, ready-to-rock look of this Studio model.

To make optimum use of all that sweet resonance and singing sustain, the Les Paul Studio Satin carries a pair of Gibson' best pickups. Updated from the acclaimed Burstbucker pickups that populate numerous instruments from Gibson Custom, the Burstbucker Pros on this guitar give you all the renowned warmth, growl and zing of genuine PAF humbuckers, with biting Alnico V magnets. The set includes a slightly overwound bridge pickup for searing lead tones, and both pickups feature wax-potted coils to squelch microphonic squeal at high volumes. Together, they provide everything from warm, vocal blues tones in the neck position, to snappy in-between settings, to phenomenal crunch and wail in the bridge position. To further maximize all that vibrational energy, Gibson includes its legendary Tune-o-matic bridge and stud-mounted wraparound tailpiece, along with a PLEK-cut Corian nut, and a set of vintage-style TonePros tuners.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Studio Satin Electric Guitar:

I buy all Gibson Les Pauls and the ones I do not purcahase I try at my 2 nearest Guitar Centers. The 4 best Les Paul deals out there are 1st of all is the Studio Deluxe only offered at Musicians Friend it is an Exclusive MF guitar from Gibson. The Gibson Les Paul Studio Mahogany which has the best old school tone and has a case. The Gibson Les Paul Studio 50's Tribute is very impressive slightly ahead of the Les Paul Studio Satin. I own all 4. The Les Paul Studio Mahogany specs were put on the Satin by accident all 4 of my Studios came from Musicians Friend the customer support puts them at a level none of the other mail order companies can touch. Gibson has the most Les Paul Studio models available then ever before it makes it pretty exciting checking out all of them, have fun.
I purchased the guitar in the Burst color. I bought it knowing the description is wrong. This plays well the neck is very smooth I suspect it was done by Gibsons Plek system. I compare this to any Studio that is faded. You get a Studio with a differant color at an affordable price. I contacted Musicians Friend and told them the description was not correct. They contacted Gibson to confirm and has changed the description. There is no new features just your great playing Gibson with that tone. Gibson guitars are the Harley Davidson of guitars no one duplicates the tone or the ownership that is the most sought after. I give this a 7 due to only a color change.
The color and the guitar was built extremely well. Made in U.S.A. with pride.
This is one of the better deals out there a Satin finish to make a Studio affordable and no compromise of tone or feel.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Studio Satin Electric Guitar:

Ive played a lot of Les Pauls, worked on hundreds of guitars over the years, This is a very nice guitar, very playable and user friendly, I know a lot of players do not like the old style keys but they give the original sound like Jimmy Page had on his. I was supprised to see a curcuit board in the bottom panel but it works fine, just the old style purists would remove it and put in the old solder style with bumble bees. Ive tryed to get the Gibson Les Paul sound on an Epiphone but the wood is part of the tone and Epiphone does not have this quality wood, also Epiphone has cheaper hardware. Enough said you get what you pay for. This guitar Rocks! The open tone will impress you, I will be hard pressed to upgrade the Keys and Pickups....maybe next year!!!

Exceeded expectations

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Studio Satin Electric Guitar:

If you want to own a nice made in America guitar for a good price then get this.
I normally dont play gibsons at all. The ones i have played i didnt care much for, mainly because they didnt fit my playing style, but i decided to take a shot on this one because i have always admired the beauty of a les paul and figured since i was older now maybe i would like it. The price was nice although you dont get any tools or a hard case but if you have played long enough you probably already have the tools you need so this wasnt really a let down. And i can get a hard case later. I like the finish better than a shiny one because it doesnt streak or smear and show fingerprints so i loved that. It has a chambered body so a lot of that les paul weight is trimmed off but you still get the good sound. Over all it came to me set up pretty good and it plays well so im happy about the price, the sound and the experience.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Studio Satin Electric Guitar:

Really nice guitar. Plays and sounds great. Guitar settup was very good out of the box, just needed tuning and was ready to play. Holds tune very well also. Got the satin fireburst finish and is flawless. Being a long time strat player and always wanting a gibson les paul, this is an excellent value.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Studio Satin Electric Guitar:

first I'd like to say that despise the satin finish's reputation, i find it to be the most beautiful guitar I've ever played, I got the satin fireburst and it's stunning. The quality control is incredible.. it sounds amazing and no fret buzzing, the tuners stay in tune better than expected, and the most important thing.. tone is great. Now to the bad stuff.. the sharp edges are uncomfortable, the weight is unbalanced, and the neck feels like a tennis ball. I like slim necks better.. But that's not all that important. I was going to get the gloss finish one, but i'm glad i chose this one cuz now i can spend that 400$ on something more important.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Studio Satin Electric Guitar:

I always wanted a les paul but could never justify the price. My main guitar is an EVH Wolfgang which I love, I wanted a backup guitar without a tremolo and when saw this guitar at the price I got it at... WOW!

If you want something that is dressed up and looks fancy this guitar isn't for you. It's a players guitar. Great tone and sustain.

By far this guitar is the best value I have ever got from an electric guitar.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Studio Satin Electric Guitar:

Studio Fireburst with BurstBucker Pro's , sound so awesome in the middle position in particular. Guitar was a level 3 that was described as having scratches, but the description was pretty vague. Its arrived as scheduled, with a new soft case and you could not see any signs of being played. On the bottom of the guitar there was a dent from probably falling off of a strap, it was dime sized and you cant really see it. Not a scratch could be found. This black satin fireburst should be awesome for hiding dents and wear , and the finish will come off pretty easy (like where you arm rests on the upper bout, BUT I LIKE THAT as it will age well) The guitar plays well and sounds great , the bridge pickup screams on 10 and can sound kinda sparkly at times, it is an A5 after all. Mixed, the pickups are outstanding, and the neck pickup alone is almost as good as an A2 490 imo, just good enough. Sitting unplugged , it plays as loud as an epiphone dot and my usa gibson sg! Outstanding resonance with the chambered body! New , or Level 1, 2 or 3, BUY NOW!

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Studio Satin Electric Guitar:

Amazing guitar for the price. I bought the Fireburst Satin Finish and it looks great and plays great. I have played the Faded finish on a couple of other Les Pauls and the neck felt a little "sticky" to me. This Satin finish feels as slick as the Nitro finish.

I have never bought a guitar that had a perfect setup right out of the box until this one. Honest, the action was great and the intonation was perfect right out of the box. Quality control like that at this price point is unheard of.

The description differed between two issues of the MF catalog. One said it comes with 490 pickups and the other said it comes with BurstBucker Pros. I've never found much difference between the two, so I knew I'd be happy with the tone either way and I am. I love this guitar.
