I ordered the limited run in ebony . The Model numbers on the shipping box were correst but the guitar inside and the model numbers are a different Les Paul than I ordered. I have owned 8 Gibson guitars . The first 5 I owned were from the 60s and 70s and they were fantastic. The last 3 I have purchased 2009 to present Are poor Quality and I will never purchase another gibson product again. I cannot beleive they cannot even put the right guitar in the right box.

I bought this used as a first Gibson as I wanted to introduce myself to the Gibson feel and tone as I'm more of a Fender guy. Initially right off the bat, I noticed the guitar had an amazing resonance and warmth from the chambering. It sounds very rich and acoustic like with piano-like sustain while unplugged. I also felt the wood felt very nice and solid; the wood grain neck feels great in the hands. Now, since mine is an older model, it has the rosewood fingerboard. Newer ones come with baked maple, since Gibson has problems getting rosewood now. My rosewood board looks incredible and the trapezoid inlays look so classic and almost have a pearly gold swirl sheen to them. It is an amazing guitar to the eye! The honeyburst finish is gorgeous, and the maple top adds a nice natural body binding to the guitar. When plugged in, this guitar sounds very vintage and sweet due to the killer P90's. The P90's are surely my favorite type of pickup, however, the neck and bridge pickup output levels aren't matched well. The neck PU is way more high and harsh in output compared to the bridge. I have to set the volume for the neck around 7 if the bridge is maxed out just to even out the volume levels. This is an awesome guitar and a great price for a USA instrument. I do have leftover glue at my neck joint that won't come off, and that bugs me, but whadda ya want for under a grand. I put a bigsby on mine, highly recommend you get one as its an easy guitar to mod!

Not sure what the word 'Worn' is supposed to mean.
When the guitar arrived the finish was acceptable, but about 5 days later, the edges of the top of the body were
showing clear wood. Anyway I returned it for a another model. I really don't want a finish that changes that dramatically.

This is my 1st Gibson Les Paul. I have wanted one for many years but since I am only a hobbiest, it took me awhile to decide which one to buy. There are so many choices. Also, I worried about ordering a guitar site unseen. It came in the gig bag and was tightly packed in a box. The quality of the guitar is awesome! The color is beautiful and it played like a dream right out of the box. This model comes with the p-90 pick ups and they sound great! I love the sound and even when it's not plugged in, it has really good sustain. I have a couple other electrics but neither compare to this one. If I would have bought this one 1st, I wouldn't have bought the others.

Overall I am very satisfied with the feel, playability and sound of this Les Paul. If you have been wanting one, but like me couldn't afford one in the past, I would suggest buying this guitar. There's the little push you've been waiting for - from a complete stranger. You're welcome.
While I play mostly acoustic guitars, I have always wanted a Les Paul, but like so many of us I couldn't afford one. With the introduction of this new Tribute Series I finally have the guitar I have wanted for years. I love the slim neck on this. The matte finish is done fairly well with the actual "worn" look kept to a minimum being just around the areas of the guitar you could expect some wear.

While this Les Paul is obviously not a custom or traditional, it does still have that quality feel to it. I have played several Les Pauls (in various music stores) and must say that this is in line with what a Les Paul should be. The P90s have a nice thick sound to them, but of course they will give some noise through the amp as they are a hot single coil.
For the price you are getting an American made Gibson Les Paul Studio with a 1960's slim tapered neck & 2 P90's. The top is carved maple with chambered mahogany underneath. I think you would be hard pressed to find an American made guitar this iconic for less.

Blown away - ambitious and wonderfully realised guitar

USA made, set neck, p90s, real Gibson and cosmetically looks very very similar indeed to full price bretheren

Although a studio, the maple cap really tricks the eye into believing the body has binding. Gibson logo is not Mother of Pearl.

I have a traditional and it is honestly not worth the (considerable) extra money compared to this. Perhaps there is an element of complacency in that, as in having it already makes that easier to say than dismissing with no first hand knowledge.
The cut corners are basically logo, binding, gloss protection/finish and gigbag. Maybe this guitar will age badly with no veneer to stop wear and rubbing? For the price tho is just terrific value

Very nice instrument. Plays and sounds great. Mine has a 2 piece back. It is not the dark back. Has rosewood fretboard. Love the chambered body. Takes a little pressure off of my old back. Cannot tell any loss of sustain or tone. Bought a Bugera Amp and it sounds great with it. Truly has the old tone that I was remembering when I was younger and missing.
Basic Les Paul features. Everything works great. Exactly what I was hoping for. Love the P90 pickups. Great clarity with just enough grit for what I play. The Grover Kluson style tuners look vintage and sure are nicer than the vintage tuners on my other Les Pauls.
One of the best Les Paul's that I've bought in the last 15 years. Gibson seemed to do everything right on this one. Fret ends were dressed nice, nut was cut right, and intonation was "dead on". Maybe they are waking up a little bit.
I got mine on sale, but even at the full price, it would have been well worth it. The other Gibson's I've had were twice as much and not nearly this nice.

Overall, I rate my LP Studio 60's Tribute at a 10. It's a great playing & sounding guitar with great quality hardware. Look carefully when you go to your local retailer to buy one as with everything there is always a lemon in the crowd. I just happen to come accross a perfect example of the guitar. I usually have to completely set up a new guitar, but with this one I had to do absolutely nothing to this guitar!

I've had many diiferent Studio styles over the years and I have to say this is THE best LP Studio by far...Standard 2 Vol-2 Tone but with the P90's, this thing absolutely growls! Mine is the worn honeyburst color which I completely fell head over heals when I saw it and I had to have it! The neck is perfect and is really comfortable for my playing style and hand-fit. I have read some poor reviews about this guitar but mine is flawless...right off the hanger at my local L&M retailer in Markham. Solid 2 pc back and top wood...some I have heard of having 3 or more piece. I think I have the more "rare" 2 Pc. I have had a baked maple fretboard guitar before and I really like it. This guitar is full of tone!
To continue more from above rating, my LP Tribute is flawless! perfect fit between the neck and body, nice clean rounded frets, perfect set-up, no scratchy-crackly pots, everything on this guitar is perfect! I am very, very satisfied. For the price point, you could get many different LP (Epi) models but this Tribute is USA made, and has tonal ranges that will amaze you. There is not a rough edge anywhere on this guitar!
I am rating only a 9 because the chamber for the 3 way switch and control cavity could have been cleaned up a litte more...
Again, looking at what I paid ($850 CAD plus tax), there are many great bargains on the market but for a USA made LP with great hardware & pickups you can't go wrong. And being limited run I'm sure the value will hold steady with these. My local retailer had 1 in stock and these are really hard to get right now.

Plug it in and hit those strings and it growls. It works great with all my pedals. People need to understand that these are P-90s, not humbuckers. They are sort of a cross between a single coil and humbucker, but not really. They have their own sound. They can be used for jazz, blues, classic rock punk and hard rock. I don't think they would be good for metal. Just look at the 60s and 70s. The Who, Black Sabbath, The Buzzcocks, The Clash, anyone with a LP or SG Junior, etc. Tons of people used P-90s because of their snarl and mid-range bite. If you're not familiar with them. I suggest trying them out in a store first.

I am not marking the guitar down because of the gig bag versus hard case issue. I wil be buying a hard case for the guitar but it doesn't diminish from the value or quality at all. Just set aside some money and grab yourself a Gator case.
I'm going to rate this based on price to guitar ratio. Not up against an expensive Les Paul. For features, it's all here - pickups, tone knobs, volume knobs, excellent tuners, chambered body and satin finish. I bought this guitar specifically for the P-90s and chambered body. Some people are marking the guitar down for the finish. I don't understand this for two reasons. 1) Why buy it if you don't like the finish? 2) I think it's actually really nice. I like it better than the standard Studio paint job. I should mention I have the Ebony.

I play rock, classic rock, punk, post-punk.
I'm going to rate this a 10 because I bought it from Musician's Friend as a second. Everything was perfect except it needed a set-up desperately. The neck was very bowed, but this could have been done after it left the factory. Everything else it perfect and it honestly is such a beautiful guitar.
Sadly, the ratings for this stop at 10. For the value, this guitar is ridiculous. The tone from the P-90s and the light weight of the guitar versus other Les Paul's is great. NOW, you don't get binding or a shiny top. Gibson did a little bit of that road worn thing on the top of the body and the bottom of the horn. But, just to change the features on this guitar, you'd have to buy a standard studio for more. To me, this guitar is more valuable than that. It is also unique and looks killer on stage.
