A Les Paul with time-honored traditional styling including a Bigsby vibrato.

The Gibson Les Paul Traditional with Bigsby Electric Guitar earns its name thanks to the traditional features you expect in a Les Paul guitar: mahogany body, set neck with rounded '50s profile, maple top, and a pair of Gibson's '57 Classic humbucker pickups.
The most prominent feature is the addition of the legendary chrome Bigsby vibrato tailpiece. Essentially the same design as when it was introduced in the mid-1940s, the Bigsby vibrato tailpiece model B70 allows players the ability to bend the pitch of notes or entire chords for vintage-style vibrato. It has been a fixture on many legendary Gibson guitars, and was named after its late inventor, Paul A. Bigsby, who sold his Bigsby Guitar company to legendary former Gibson President Ted McCarty in 1966. This classic piece of guitar hardware performs flawlessly thanks to several added enhancements such as a Schaller™ roller bridge—a unit based on Gibson's own Tune-o-matic, but with individual roller saddles—for improved return-to-pitch capabilities when the vibrato is used,.a Corian nut for smooth string action, a set of TonePros tuners to help keep the strings in tune, and a Schaller roller bridge to help the strings go back to the original tuning after using the Bigsby vibrato.

With all the fat, sweet, snarling Les Paul tone that purists love, the new Gibson Les Paul Traditional with Bigsby sports a mahogany body with a thick maple cap for the perfect blend of warmth and clarity. Introduced in 1992, the '57 Classic humbucker in the neck position provides warm, full tone with a balanced response, packing that classic Gibson PAF humbucker crunch, inspired by those original PAFs that received a few extra turns of wire. A slightly hotter 57 Classic Plus in the bridge for gutsy crunch and soaring lead tones. These acclaimed units are made with genuine Alnico II magnets and wound with 42 AWG wire, just like the legendary PAFs of the late '50s and early '60s.

The Les Paul Traditional with Bigsby is crafted with all the classic ingredients that helped make this model a legend, and it sports killer looks thanks to a stunning high-gloss Ebony Black nitrocellulose finish. A carved maple top contributes clarity and sustain, while a mahogany body adds depth and richness. Like all Les Paul Traditionals this guitar uses modern weight relief to enhance resonance and reduce weight. A set-in, solid one-piece quarter-sawn mahogany neck has a rounded "Traditional" profile and is topped with a Grade-A rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets, with a 12" radius for each choke-free bending. The neck culminates in a headstock with the preferred 17-degree backward pitch for improved string pressure in the PLEK-cut Corian nut.

Comments about Gibson Limited Run Les Paul Traditional with Bigsby Electric Guitar:

If I had a dollar for everything that is wrong or misaligned with this guitar I'm sure I would not have paid a cent for it.

Disappointment is a massive understatement. Yet when this was brought to the attention of Musicians Friends, they were quick to offer a fast fix for the guitar .

Never once did they offer a refund. They would fix the guitar. Only that guitar. If anything had been altered, changed, replaced or just not to their liking a charge would be applied. They also let it be known that if in their opinion they would send to me another guitar but only that make and model. I could not ask for a sunburst, gold top, different fret board (maple for example). I felt that I was being blackmailed into accepting their terms or just deal with it by myself.

            1. The neck was bowed.
            2. The strings were at least 3 to 4 credit card high from fht fret board.
            3. Pickup heights were not setup nor adjusted.
            4. The height of the bridge was not properly adjusted.

When a person purchases a three to four grand guitar from Gibson, one of the best manufacturers in the world, one would expect some quality control to exist at the point of manufacturering.

            It seems there are none.

            What were they thinking?

Comments about Gibson Limited Run Les Paul Traditional with Bigsby Electric Guitar:

That would be much higher if it had a USA B7. Dont get me wrong, the import Bigsby TP's tend to work and feel fine (except the handles tend to bend more easily)....but thats not the point.....as stated above, on a lower cost guitar it would be fine...say Gibson studio models or import guitars...which is where they are most used...but on a full priced Gibson LP standard...I dont get it...and as stated you HAVE to drill and fill to put a proper B7 on....which kills the whole point of this guitar IMO.
The whole point of this guitar is the Bigsby....and they went with an import verion of the bigsby with a b70....to put on a USA B7 drilling and filling is required. Why skimp on the Bigsby and then splurge on the roller bridge? Thats a part that is highly subject to taste, and is easily changed without doing any permanat mods to the guitar.
Your standard G-USA fare, some are fantastic, some are dogs, most are a bit above average.
Due again to the Licensed B70....a Licensed Bigsby is just fine on my Korean import Gretsch G5129.....but on a high dollar retail guitar???? NO DEAL....

Excellent guitar, great looks, greater tone

            By Julian Litteral

            from Columbus, Ohio

Comments about Gibson Limited Run Les Paul Traditional with Bigsby Electric Guitar:

I give this guitar 4 1/2 stars out of 5 because in the end, this is a great guitar, in the terms of sound and features and is made with all the details one would expect out of a traditional les paul in the terms of electronics, tone, and finish, but some of the intricacies of the appearance are missing. Also, when one finally decides to purchase this guitar, there are no other options besides the ebony finish with the rosewood fretboard and chrome hardware. Great looks, but your kinda stuck with it.
The Bigsby B7 is an excellent addition to this guitar, adds a lot of weight but when it comes to personal preference I like really heavy guitars (why else would I play a Les Paul?). It also comes with a schaller roller bridge which allows it to stay in tune even when the trem-bar is used.
The quality of the guitar is trully worthy of the world renowed Gibson name. The sound is bright, but definantly contains that classic Les Paul punch. The finish is nitrocellulose which will allow the guitar to age nicely and will really open up the sound after a few years.
While this guitar is trully worth the money, there is a little bit of that "name-brand" mentallity. The guitar is incredible but, in my opinion, the price is a little high. For the price tag one should expect to get binding on the headstock and maybe the classic Les Paul pearloid diamond inlay on the headstock as well. However, these are minor aesthetic details that can be overlooked as the guitar still is a beautiful guitar.

I own this guitar and it's my favorite one. The bigsby is a super nice touch and the overall construction is great. Pure Les Paul quality. If you're wondering, this guitar IS "Plek'd". A great gibson release.
The bigsby is great and solidly constructed.

            brown?

Comments about Gibson Limited Run Les Paul Traditional with Bigsby Electric Guitar:

Put an ebony fretboard on this, or make it in sunburst.
I have a number of Les Pauls, including a Traditional Pro, so I like the Traditional models. I may have to put a Bigsby on one of my older Lesters. I like the looks of this guitar, but, come on Gibson.....where is either the sunburst top or the ebony fretboard? A black guitar with a rosewood fretboard?
