Comments about Gibson Midtown Deluxe 2016 Limited Run Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

I've been intrigued by these when they first came out, but when they went on sale, I had to snag one. At first I liked Ocean Blue better, but since I got mine in Root Beer, I'm liking that color just as much.

I'm impressed with the playability and upper fret access. It's almost like playing a semi-hollow version of the SG. It doesn't quite have the bark of an LP, but it doesn't have the weight of one, either. The Burstbucker pickups have sort of a "hi-fi" sound to them: bright, but not so much to sound brittle. I thought I wouldn't like the Richlite fretboard, but it really does look and feel like ebony.

Minor issues: the factory set-up was horrible (strings way too high, and the truss rod was loose). Also, the fret ends/nibs were filed sort of sloppily, as if the person doing it was rushed. Additionally, the "f" holes weren't sanded smooth, so they look and feel rough. I expect these issues on an Epiphone, but not on a Gibson. Since they don't affect playability, I'm not going to worry about them so much. Nevertheless, I'm glad I got it on sale, as It's not worth their full asking price IMHO.
