Comments about Gibson Midtown Standard P-90 Electric Guitar:
tried to like it. great value for such a nice guitar. tried three or four amps with it, pedals, turned all the knobs every which way. it was hard for me to find a sweet spot where it felt right. maybe it will will rock your world but i returned mine. good luck.

Comments about Gibson Midtown Standard P-90 Electric Guitar:
first the good. it is a beautiful guitar. now the bad. it was way out of shape. neck relief, intonation, pickup adjustment, all bad. i had played the humbucker model in the store but thought it had no mojo. plan B, i thought the P90 version would have more something. sadly it sounded sterile and felt stiff. it's a bad sign when you are immediately trying to plug into differernt amps hoping that some combination would really shine. it's a georgous, well put together, guitar. sadly i spent two score and three clams to return it.

Comments about Gibson Midtown Standard P-90 Electric Guitar:
A great limited production guitar. The P90s rock and sound different than single coils or humbuckers. I was expecting a shallow f hole opening, but this is close to being a semi-hollow body...I was impressed. Light weight, can play a long gig with this. And Pelham blue is really unique.

Comments about Gibson Midtown Standard P-90 Electric Guitar:
Vintage sunburst is beautiful. This guitar is one of the best values of all time for a Gibson. If you got one before they sold out, consider yourself very fortunate. Great tone, feel, and easy to play. Sounds great plugged or unplugged. I play this on a Super Champ X2 on the clean channel. A walk in the clouds with every strum. Very happy with this purchase, no regrets. If you can buy one used, don't hesitate, get it. And thank you MF for the 150% price match guarantee! You have a customer for life!

Comments about Gibson Midtown Standard P-90 Electric Guitar:
BEAUTIFUL Pelham Blue beauty,Out of the box setup was good,But my tech made it GREAT.My P90s in this are HOT-Just like I like em'.Chrome hardware,Cream binding is a nice touch.Neck feels awesome and is comfortable to play standing or sitting.Like a slightly bigger Les Paul Double cut with Semi-Hollow body and F-holes.Even playing acoustically this sounds good with nice projection.Only gripe I have is the inside edges of the F-holes are unfinished in spots.Maybe I'm reaching here,But I expect more from an American Icon Guitar company.Gibson-PLEASE show a little more pride in your work. For all its worth,I DO LOVE the guitar and will be keeping it despite its blems. As other reviews I have seen for this model have some sort of blems also.Limited run for 2012 and going to be discontinued.Blowout price matched- Plus some- from M.F. for the color I wanted with case=Awesome Deal!!!150% price guarantee and they MEAN it!!Forget the rest and BUY here from the best!!!

Comments about Gibson Midtown Standard P-90 Electric Guitar:
This is a great guitar, and it makes no sense that Gibson discontinued it. The guitar is really light, hangs well (is not neck heavy), and has a fast neck and low action. The vintage sunburst top looks great, and the fit and finish were flawless to my eye.
Gibson's P90s have a nice growl to them. If anything, the guitar is a little bright, but that's almost certainly the P90s.
My reading is that pepole on the intraweb are debating the pros/cons of this guitar as compared to the 335. The 335 is built differently, the midtown is built much like a chambered les paul, and the 335 is not, but I can't see how that matters. The 335 also has a carved top and is slightly bigger. I've never owned a 335, but this guitar is much less expensive so to me it seems like a no brainer.
I play out with a band 2+ times per month and have owned many guitars in 20+ years of playing and have also sold most of them. I'm not sure I would keep this guitar if it was at full retail, but this holiday the reatilers were selling them deeply discounted.

Comments about Gibson Midtown Standard P-90 Electric Guitar:
Great guitar. Set up out of the box was spot on for me. Love the sound of the P90s. I love the slightly smaller size of the Midtown compared to other ES Gibsons. Vintage Sunburst finish is gorgeous and flawless. The only thing I don't like is the creme pickup covers, but that is an easy swap. Outstanding Gibson for the price. Buy one, and you will not regret it.
