This limited run axe offers HSH tonal options.

Resembling its larger Les Paul cousin but with more defined curves, the Nighthawk has become a cult favorite since it was discontinued in 1999, after only six years in production. The original Nighthawk was conceived of in response to the demand for a more modern silhouette and a multitude of tone options.

The 2010 version is still all about a guitarist keeping his options open as exemplified by a new pickup configuration consisting of Gibson BurstBucker 1 in the neck and BurstBucker 2 in the bridge position with a blade single-coil middle pickup. With this HSH pickup array, a master tone control with bridge pickup coil-splitting, and master volume control with neck pickup coil-splitting, guitarists can experiment with endless sounds. If tone alone weren’t enough to carry this instrument, Gibson luthiers have labored to create an exquisite-looking guitar. A quilted maple top with a light black stain to make the grain pop, poplar body, '60s Slim Taper neck, rosewood fingerboard, and deluxe details such as gold hardware combine to once again make the Nighthawk a true collector’s item.

I bought this thinking that i could use it as my performance guitar at the gigs I do.... but is sounds just as good as my squire strat telecaster, which was like 700$ less. go for a Les Paul not the "nighthawk." it's lowest string never stops buzzing, and the frets are slow... DON'T GET THIS GUITAR

    Nighthawk Standard 2010 Electric Guitar

Comments about Gibson Nighthawk Standard 2010 Electric Guitar:

Later the next day I also ordered a Les Paul Custom from Private Reserve. Musicians Friend is the one place to do business.
The Gibson Nighthawk is a beauty with plenty of different tones available. This guitar can sound strong with the humbucker settings and then pull the volume contol up and it sounds twangy like a Strat! The center pickup is great for rythym work.
The one I ordered stated on the website that it was slightly used. BUT it was almost like new... only a slight tiny spot near a volume control.
I am completely satisfied that I ordered a slightly used guitar and it was in perfect condition and a very good price.

    Glad I got the Gibson

Comments about Gibson Nighthawk Standard 2010 Electric Guitar:

I was initially looking at the Epi nighthawk, but did not like the action. Ordered a used (level 2) from MF. The guitar plays wonderfully - great sound and action (got the Memphis Mojo). It looks great! If you can still find one, I highly recommend!

Comments about Gibson Nighthawk Standard 2010 Electric Guitar:

I have a small collection of guitars, about 25 with Gibson the main focus. The nighthawk is my favorit over custom shop SG.339 an old les paul standard 1980 a les paul 2bl cut. and a bunch of other good guitars. I bought 3 one in each color sure to become a classic.

    Nice Guitar

Comments about Gibson Nighthawk Standard 2010 Electric Guitar:

It took a while to find one of these (especially in the St. Louis Sauce color), at least up until recently. This is truly one beautiful guitar, with many different tone options, great sound, and extremely easy action. Other than a few very minor finish issues, the overall quality is excellent. This "Standard 2010" model is similar in a number of ways to my original 1990's Nighthawks. However, in many more ways, it's a very different guitar, both in tone and in appearance. I think Gibson should be commended for adding this guitar to their lineup. Production is limited to only 100 guitars per color. So get one now while you still can....you won't be disappointed!

    Great Guitar

Comments about Gibson Nighthawk Standard 2010 Electric Guitar:

I ordered the Blue first. Great sound, feel, light and fast. I just loved it. It had a blemish on it. Buffer burn or something. Can't believe Gibson would allow it to leave their factory like that. Returned it and got the Mojo (Root Beer). Beautiful guitar. Same mark, some hairline scratches and one of the knobs was broken. Sent it back and wa going to get another and then thought about it for a while and said the heck with it. Not doing the third times a charm deal.

Comments about Gibson Nighthawk Standard 2010 Electric Guitar:

well first I just dont see the point in buying this if you could just buy a epihone thats like so much cheaper for the same quailty and better finish. buy this if you want to im not saying its a bad guitar, but i just think it whould be smarter buying the epiphone. Just my opinion.
