The Robot invasion continues.
The Gibson Robot Flying V Ltd. offers all the power, tone, and performance of a traditional Flying V Ltd. model, with the addition of the revolutionary Robot automatic tuning system.
Gibson's Robot Guitar, the world's first guitar with robotic tuning technology, is now available as a Flying V. You don't have to tune up your car every time you drive it. Now you don't have to tune up your guitar every time you play it. The Robot Guitar does it for you. Just plug it in, dial in the tuning, strum the strings, and play.
The self-tuning system is built into a gorgeous Gibson Flying V guitar without changing its looks. All the sound and playability that have made the Flying V one of the most successful electric guitars of all time are retained. To tune itself, the Robot II Guitar uses an onboard central processing unit (CPU) that analyzes the pitch of each string as detected by the Tune-Control bridge. Tuning information from the CPU is relayed to the motorized tuning machines that efficiently adjust each string to the correct pitch with a distinctive whirring sound that lets you know Robot Guitar is on the job.
You activate the Gibson Robot Flying V with the Master Control Knob (MCK) that functions as a tone control in the down position and is pulled up to activate the tuning system. In addition to standard (A-440Hz) tuning, six commonly used tunings are selectable from the MCK. Users can also program their own custom tunings as well as set the guitar's intonation. Now, with the Gibson Robot Guitar, you'll spend more time playing in tune. In live performance you can easily change tunings practically soundlessly on the fly, keeping your show flowing smoothly. There's no longer any need to haul several instruments to the gig to cover various tunings; The Robot does it all for you!
The Robot Flying V Ltd. has a mahogany body with a nitrocellulose finish. The mahogany neck is hand-shaped into a rounded C-shaped profile and is topped with a rosewood fretboard. A Gibson 496R Hot Ceramic humbucker in the neck position and 500T Super Ceramic humbucker in the bridge position deliver smokin' tone. Four-conductor wiring allows connection of a push/pull pot for coil-splitting. Wax potting reduces the chances of microphonic feedback. The performance-safeguarding Neutrik jack secures the cord into the guitar.

i play in a band that covers songs with different tunings. this guitar takes care of them all. I play through a mesa roadster, the sound is amazing.the action is a slight bit high, but nothing you can"t handle.it's the little thing's like not having to tune all the time that make playing music fun.
This is simply my favorite guitar I own.Do not, and I repeat do not, hesitate to buy it, and I know it comes with a large pricetag, but trust me its all worth it in the end. The whole tunes it self thing is so amazing its not even funny, sometimes I just sit and watch it tune itself for fun, the pickups on this baby are great, godly tone, and u dont have to worry about tuning ever again, amazing buy.
I purchased this guitar 3 months ago and I have nothing but positive remarks about it. It's body is really lightweight and the metallic red color gives it a unique look on stage. Also the neck is super smooth, and perfect for shredding or chording. The best part of this guitar however is in it's name, the guitars robot like capibility to, within a few seconds tune itself perfectly so that u can play anything without having to worry bout the time needed to tune. On stage when my rythem guitarist is playing a filler riff, I'm auto tuning it gettin ready to play a whole diffrent sound. This is easy to do, and only takes a few seconds here are the steps: 1.) Turn the volume on the guitar all the way down. 2.) Set the MCK to the tuning you want it to be at. 3.) Strum an open chord of all six strings. 4.) Give the guitar a few seconds to tune up. 5.) Double check the tuning by struming all the strings agian. 6.) Turn the volume up and you're all set to rock you're heart out with a brand new sound. Another awsome part of this guitar is its pickups wich sound amazing, well they are gibson. If you run them through a Marshal with an effect petal they sound amazing, perfect for any kind of metal. Overall this guitar is wel worth the money and if it cost more I'd still pay it, but that is in no way any reason to raise the price. I wish gibson would factory make this product as a permenant line, but what can you do. I highly recomend this product to anyone who likes that raw metal sound, and the ability to tune up instantly. A must buy, but get it before its gone for good.
