Comments about Gibson SG Diablo Premium Electric Guitar:
Sweet guitar - after you work on it, but...First, the negatives.
I ordered the Iced Tea finish, and Musician's Friend (MF) sent me the dark finish! When I opened that one and held it, the volume knob came off! I spoke with MF about returning, and they would not ship an Iced Tea copy via overnight - only second day air. Maybe no big deal, but when you wait two weeks for a guitar and the wrong one arrives, you're tired of waiting.
When I got my Iced Tea, I opened the case and BOTH VOLUME AND TONE KNOBS WERE NOT ATTACHED. One was up by the neck and the other wedged between the case and guitar's side, which made a blemish on the finish. Unbelievable. The knobs are poorly designed and/or installed.
Finally, the action was high and the volume difference between neck and bridege pickups is significant. Oh, and one of the hinges on the Canadian made case was poorly attached.
I swear I will never buy another guitar without holding it in my hands first.
The reason I'm keeping it is because the finish is beautiful, the pickups are so nice, as are the Grover locking tuners, Tone Pros locking bridge/tailpiece, and I can correct most of the problems mentioned above. I love the airy, crunch I get with the Burstbuckers, and they are very responsive to the volume control in terms of cleaning up/getting dirty. I also love the accessibility of the high frets that the SG model provides.
I would recommend this to a friend only after relating my complete experience with this purchase.

Comments about Gibson SG Diablo Premium Electric Guitar:
I ordered this guitar hoping it would be a step up from my well loved SG Special. Not even close. The finish was pretty, but it had many rough places. The binding on the neck was uneven. There was a loud ground buzz that didn't stop, even when volume was turned down all the way. The Burstbuckers leave something to be desired IMO. The neck angle seemed shallow for a Gibson, which left almost no adjustment at the bridge . On the positive side, it has quality Tone Pros and Grover hardware. Could have been a contender with better QC. I returned it after 2 days. Avoid this one and buy an SG Special or Special Faded for less and have a much better guitar.

Comments about Gibson SG Diablo Premium Electric Guitar:
I have owned one of these guitars since they first came out a few months ago. Never once have I set it down for another guitar, especially not for another SG. The pickups are extremely versatile and do what whatever you want them to (Burstbucker Pros are fantastic by the way), and the carved top is stunning to look at. I had a hard time picking one because all three colors looked so great.I have taken this guitar to a few shows and it hasn't failed me yet. I think I have had to tune it twice (literally) since I got it, and I play for hours on end. Because the guitar body is slightly heavier, it actually makes the "neck-heavy" issue that is common with SGs a little less problematic (still a little neck heavy, but no dive bomb action). Overall I would say that Gibson really did a great job with this guitar. If I could, I would buy two more in the other colors. Great guitar, great sound, feel, everything.
P.S. Placing the input jack on the side of the SG is great, it makes the carved top shine even more.

Comments about Gibson SG Diablo Premium Electric Guitar:
This guitar has got to be the WORST example of expert craftsmanship, that I have ever seen, by Gibson. On the back of the head stock, there's 3 spots, where you can see the wood. There is a spot on the neck,at the 3rd fret, you can actually see & feel a flaw. There is a blemish where the fret board ends by the pickup. There was glue oozeing out of 2 frets. When examining the guitar I noticed the back plate, covering the electronics, wasn't seated all the way down,on the middle screw. When I removed the backplate, I found that the wood had split where the center screw goes.I believe that when this guitar was routed out & the holes for the electronics were drilled, a mistake was made. The volume & tone pots are 1mm from the edge of the inside,on 1 side & over 1 inch from the other side,of the routed out space. The electronics inside this guitar, are the cheapest I've ever seen. I am totally DISATISFIED with the quality of this GIBSON guitar,& the color looks nothing like the photo,on the MF website. I will NEVER buy another guitar from Musician's Friend, if they do not address this issue,PERIOD. A copy of this review was forwarded to Gibson. If I can't find this review, on MF's site,I will do my shopping elsewhere. P.S. What is the point of asking for a review, if MF can edit it.
