Comments about Gibson SG Neck Through 12 String Limited Run Electric Guitar:

I purchased 'new' a 2016 SG 12 string (N)eck (T)hrough limited run.
But I also purchased 'new' a 2102 SG 12 string 50th anniversary for slightly less than 1/3 of the NT limited price.
After playing both for many hours and both in a few gigs, I found that the 50th anniversary had slightly more weight to it and also had better resonance, giving it a better sustain ability, as far as the sound the NT limited is a bit deeper with less chime than the 50th anniversary; IMO.
Though they are both nice guitars, the 50th anniversary sounds much more like the SG 12 string on Gibson's double neck, as the construction is basically identical, where the NT limited actually has some body similarities with the Gibson NT firebird; IMO.
Even though the firebird has mini buckers, it's resonance and sustain is similar in the NT limited 12 string; again IMO.
That's not to say the NT limited doesn't give one that underlying 12 string chime, it does, just slightly less than the 50th anniversary; IMO.
But when I look at the fact that my SG NT limited was 3 times more than my 50th anniversary, I become slightly disappointed, if it were half the cost as nit is I'd be much more inclined to be happier about it.
I like both guitars in their own way, but when looking at sound and cost I prefer my 2012 SG 12 string 50th anniversary and it suits my playing needs better.

Comments about Gibson SG Neck Through 12 String Limited Run Electric Guitar:

I first picked up a twelve string in Germany in 1966 and realized that it would be a valuable tool for a soloist. Since then I have played many variations of 12 string guitars - acoustic and electric made by every company available. This Gibson is the penultimate instrument for 12 string music. The neck is pure Firebird fast (and of course a neck through) and attached to a SG style body. It weighs practically nothing. It is breathtakingly beautiful (it looks like my Firebird and my SG had a child, but there was a genetic mutation requiring all 12 strings be represented). What don't I like? That it came into my life so late..........

Gibson SG Neck Through 12 String

By AndyMac

Comments about Gibson SG Neck Through 12 String Limited Run Electric Guitar:

This is the best Gibson 12 string I have ever played. I purchased the LP version and the SG 50th anniversary and both are very fine instruments but this one to me is the best. The setup was perfect and intonation was spot on. It is the first Gibson in years that didn`t have a noticeable minor step with fret board to the neck bonding. It sounds great through multiple amps, Soldano, Fender, Ashdown, and Gibson. It even beats a 1990 Rick 381 (noodle neck).
