    Sophisticated elegance and superb playability.

The Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Custom Acoustic-Electric Guitar is considered one of the world's finest sounding square-shouldered acoustics. Crafted to reflect simple and sophisticated elegance the Songwriter Deluxe Custom is the finest offering from Gibson's Songwriter family of acoustic guitars. Abalone trim and distinctive mother-of-pearl fingerboard and headstock inlays contibute to the guitar's luxurious looks.

    Gold Grover Rotomatic Tuners
Grover's original Rotomatic tuners are an engineering marvel, with abundant style and performance exactly suited for the Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Custom Acoustic Guitar. With a gear ratio of 14:1, the Rotomatics deliver precision tuning in a durable housing that provides maximum protection for the gear and string post. All moving parts are cut for exact meshing, eliminating the possibility of slippage. A countersunk tension screw lets players regulate the tuning tension to any degree. A special lubricant inside the gearbox provides smooth and accurate tuning stability.

    Custom Gibson Pickguard
The pickguard on the Gibsom Songwriter Deluxe Custom is a custom-line design made from Tortec. As with all of Gibson's pickguards, the coloring, inlay, and binding are all done by hand.

    Gibson Songwriter Rosette
The rosette on the Songwriter Deluxe Custom is one of Gibson's finest. It is a double-ring rosette with an abalone-filled middle, with both outer rings consisting of six-ply binding, adding a stylish, understated elegance to the Songwriter acoustic-electric guitar.

Rosewood Fingerboard with Rolled Edges and Deluxe Custom Inlays
The resilience of this durable wood makes the fingerboard extremely balanced and stable, and gives each chord and note unparalleled clarity and bite. The fingerboard inlays of the Songwriter Deluxe Custom are a completely new design made of genuine mother of pearl, and inserted into the fingerboard using a process that eliminates gaps and doesn't require the use of fillers. The fingerboard also sports a rolled edge instead of the usual right angle where the fingerboard surface meets the neck. Gibson Acoustics' rolled edges are slightly beveled for an extremely smooth and comfortable feel, enhancing the playability of the Songwriter Deluxe Custom Guitar.

    Body Tonewoods
The body design of the Songwriter Deluxe Custom is known as a small dreadnought. The top is made from AA-grade Sitka spruce, while the back and sides are constructed from rosewood, giving it a balanced, warm tone with clear lows and solid treble registers. Selecting the right wood and the formula to dry it out are two of the most central procedures to Gibson's guitar-building process. Beginning with its first catalog in 1903, Gibson has assured its customers that every guitar would be built using woods with "the most durable, elastic, and sonorous qualities," and today's guitars from Gibson Acoustic are no different.

    Bracing
Every acoustic guitar made by Gibson features hand-scalloped, radiused top bracing inside the body, a feature normally found only in limited run, hand-made guitars. By scalloping each brace by hand, the natural sound of the acoustic is focused more toward the center of the body, enhancing the instrument's sound projection. The bracing pattern inside the Songwriter Deluxe Custom is based on the design used for Gibson's celebrated Advanced Jumbo models of the 1930s, consisting of a wider "X" pattern that allows the top to vibrate more freely and push the sound toward the soundhole. The result is an instrument that delivers incredible response and a superior dynamic range with balanced, warm tones, clear lows, and solid treble registers.

The Songwriter Deluxe Custom is a keeper

Comments about Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Custom Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Extremely responsive, well balanced EQ,sustain, ringing, projection and attack. Just for a unique clear sustaing well balsnced tone. I also own a standard burst with ebony fretboard, custom has rosewood, and they sound much different individually.I use the natural custom for fingerpicking mostly and the std. for pickin. These are the first Gibson acoustics I have owned,Martin guy,and am impressed.

Comments about Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Custom Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Just received my Gibson Songwritter...I was awestruck with its appearance... a beautiful acoustic.... quality and workmanship is Gibson...I must confess i did think the playability would be better than it was for a guitar at this pricepoint and considering it was professionally setup before it left Musicians Friend Private Reserve...The Emiphone AJ500RE I bought last year came better setup with a factory setting....I realize this has nothing to do with the quality of the instrument its just the way the guitar was setup.....but the guitar I received it was not in playable condition...

Comments about Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Custom Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Custom Electric Acoustic is truly a work of art. Paired with the Fishman Ellipse Aura pickup, what a combo! You will have to experiment will the different modes and images of the pickup, but I quickly learned how to blend, ect. Outstanding! The over all tone of this instrument is unmatched. And the East Indian Rosewood is to behold. Now, I must give a shout out to the guys in Musicians Friend Private Reserve. The guys answered all question in a professional, and knowledgeable manner. From many multi-angle photos, to corrisponding serial numbers. I saw what they had to offer, and it was truly top of the line. Honest, professional opinions, and love for these reserve products is appearent. I BOUGHT TWO GIBSON'S! Thanks again, guys.

Comments about Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Custom Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I own some nice acoustics (SJ 200 Montana Gold,Martin D-45, Taylor T-5) and this one is my favorite. It just projects a balanced sound across the board, highs and lows. The neck feels nice and the Ebony with the all the different fret markers is a thing of beauty. Love this guitar!

    The very best of acoustics

    By LoveMyGuitars

    from Australia

Comments about Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Custom Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have just taken delivery of a GSD Custom in the Vintage Sunburst and through years of owning and playing many top end guitars from small venues to large outdoor PAs, I can happily say my new Songwriter Deluxe Custom is a cut above the rest. Gibson acoustics may not have the same 'tradition' as the Martins, the 'marketability' of Taylors or the 'boutiqueness' of Collings, etc... but the boys at Bozeman Montana have outdone themselves...and that's coming from a fussy guitar player all the way from Australia like me. I have only acquired this guitar recently but already my hands just 'know' it can do everything I need it to do. I am a singer and very few guitars make me sing better when I'm playing it...the Songwriter pretty much plays itself! I'm not kidding...singer-guitarists will understand. The dimensions (pinched waisted dreadnaught) are perfect for a guy with average height and arm length. The finish, the inlays and the neck are all stunning. The wood is a breathtaking East Indian Rosewood and the top is a tightly-grained AAA Grade Spruce. Every note, every chord reverberates against my chest like it's alive. The X-bracing makes the instrument project with clarity and volume but also a subtleness when finger picked and the overtones are surprisingly just 'there' for a rosewood dreadnaught...what you'd expect from more exotic woods. Now...for the pickup...I have to say that this is the first guitar I've owned with a Fishman Ellipse Aura. I am a purist, and I was a bit sceptical about the Aura Imaging Technology...until I plugged her in...immediately my scepticism was silenced. It just goes to show...don't judge a guitar or a pickup till you get your hands on that thing and play it plugged in! I am a huge fan of most of the LR Baggs pickups, the Maton APMic system, K&K Trinity and Sunrise pickups...but this Fishman is awesome. Gibson made the right choice to pair up the Songwriter with the Ellipse Aura. All 4 images blend beautifully with the piezo. No quack...all sweetness with enough 'cut' to make you the leader of the band. Would hold up in a noisy pub (bar/club) or a rocking arena concert. I recommend the Custom over the Studio or the Standard if you can afford it....there's just something about owning the top of the range in a particular range. The hand-made acoustics at Bozeman are made with a lot of love, particularly the Custom ones.
