    High-quality appointments and superb tone.

The Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Custom EC Acoustic-Electric Guitar is crafted to reflect simple and sophisticated elegance. With its cutaway design, abalone trim and distinctive mother of pearl fingerboard and headstock inlays, the Songwriter Deluxe Custom EC is among the finest guitars from Gibson's Songwriter family of acoustics. The Songwriter is also considered one of Gibson's finest sounding square-shouldered guitars.

    Gold Grover Rotomatic Tuners
Grover's original Rotomatic tuners are an engineering marvel, with abundant style and performance exactly suited for the Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Custom EC Guitar. With a gear ratio of 14:1, the Rotomatics deliver precision tuning in a durable housing that provides maximum protection for the gear and string post. All moving parts are cut for exact meshing, eliminating the possibility of slippage. A countersunk tension screw lets players regulate the tuning tension to any degree. A special lubricant inside the gearbox provides smooth and accurate tuning stability.

    Gibson Custom Pickguard
The pickguard on the Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Cutaway model is a custom-line design made from Tortec. As with all of Gibson's pickguards, the coloring, inlay, and binding are all done by hand.

    Gibson Songwriter Rosette
The rosette on the Songwriter Deluxe Custom EC Guitar is one of Gibson's finest. It is a double-ring rosette with an abalone-filled middle, with both outer rings consisting of six-ply binding, adding a stylish, understated elegance to the cutaway Songwriter Guitar.

Rosewood Fingerboard with Rolled Edges and Deluxe Custom Inlays
The resilience of this durable wood makes the fingerboard extremely balanced and stable, and gives each chord and note unparalleled clarity and bite. The fingerboard inlays of the Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Custom EC are a completely new design made of genuine mother of pearl, and inserted into the fingerboard using a process that eliminates gaps and doesn't require the use of fillers. The fingerboard also sports a rolled edge—instead of the usual right angle where the fingerboard surface meets the neck, Gibson Acoustics' rolled edges are slightly beveled for an extremely smooth and comfortable feel, enhancing the playability of the Songwriter Deluxe Custom EC Guitar.

    Body Tonewoods
The top of the Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Custom EC is made from AA-grade Sitka spruce, while the back and sides are constructed from rosewood, giving it a balanced, warm tone with clear lows and solid treble registers. Selecting the right wood, and the formula to dry it out, are two of the most central procedures to Gibson's guitar-building process. Beginning with its first catalog in 1903, Gibson has assured its customers that every guitar would be built using woods with "the most durable, elastic, and sonorous qualities," and today's guitars from Gibson Acoustic are no different.

    Bracing
Every acoustic guitar made by Gibson features hand-scalloped, radiused top bracing inside the body, a feature normally found only in limited run, hand-made guitars. By scalloping each brace by hand, the natural sound of the acoustic is focused more toward the center of the body, enhancing the instrument's sound projection. The bracing pattern inside the Songwriter Deluxe Custom is based on the design used for Gibson's celebrated Advanced Jumbo models of the 1930s, consisting of a wider "X" pattern that allows the top to vibrate more freely and push the sound toward the soundhole. The result is an instrument that delivers incredible response and a superior dynamic range with balanced, warm tones, clear lows, and solid treble registers.

Comments about Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Custom EC Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar is a dream to play. Perfect harmonics and intonation. Great sound balance. Plays fingerstyle with ease. And finally stunning to look at. Credit to Gibson this is one heck of a guitar. I traded up from a songwriter deluxe ec to get this and it was well worth the upgrade. I've been playing it for about a year and it still amazes me.

Comments about Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Custom EC Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've been playing for 32 years and this instrument is at the top of the guitars I own. I played one about five years ago and the playability and tone stuck with me so much I finally purchased one. I thought I had "the one" acoustic that would last me the rest of my playing days, but this guitar simply outshines all others.
The neck is a perfect medium size (I tend to prefer thicker necks). String spacing is perfect for strumming or finger picking. The ebony fretboard makes the notes "pop" with a real clarity to them. The rolled edges of the neck allow for a smooth feel up and down the length of the fretboard. The flame maple trim, MOP inlays, abalone trim and old-style Gibson logo are eye pleasing and quality hand crafted touches.
The solid tonewoods and hand scalloped bracing project a warm clean tone. Finish and fit are flawless, the kind you would expect for this type of instrument. The Fishman Aura Ellipse electronics are fine, with the standard tone shaping choices. I appreciate the fact that the controls mount under the soundhole rather than drilling/cutting out some of the solid side wood. The Gibson case is a quality case for playing out that provides the perfect paring with this guitar
If you are looking for a professional hand made instrument, this is the perfect choice. I have no hesitation in reccomending this to anyone considering a professional acoustic.

The Gibson Songwriter Custom EC Acoustic-Electric, Amazing!

      By Henry Johnson

      from Maine, USA

Comments about Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Custom EC Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Overall thiws guitar is unmatched in quality for the dollar. No brag, just fact.
Words cannot describe the pleasure I receive in playing my Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Custom EC Acoustic-Electric. I have no problem with the Taylor Guitars, in fact I own one of those also, but don't let anyone tell you that they are superior to this Gibson Guitar from any perspective. From the design to workmanship of this Gibson beauty to the magical Gibson tone and ease of playing it is by far the finest acoustic instrument I have had in my hands since my Uncle's old J200 back in the day (and by the way it sounds equally as wonderful today as it did 40+ years ago. The Fishman electronics compliment the design of the Songwriter and the operation of the Fishman hardware is intuitive so it's not a barrier to quick adjustment in volume and tone on the fly. I could be more technical but there is no need for that; If you are considering a top notch beautiful user friendly guitar with the sond that only Gibson can produce, you've come to the right conclusion with this model. There is no better bang for your bucks! You're gonna love it.
Best quality in design and components!
This is the guitar for you! Hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.

      This is a fabulous instrument

      By Michael Columbus

      from Denver Colorado area

Comments about Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Custom EC Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

You won't be sorry to have made this the flagship of your acoustic line. Treat her with the respect she deserves. There are certainly more expensive guitars out there. Value wise though, this one is a champ.
As with any other Gibson acoustic I have touched new, it seems very close to flawless. The pic shows one with the mustache bridge, the one I received has the standard Gibby bridge which is fine with me anyway. The fretboard is well dressed, no high spots that I can see, the neck is true, fit and finish exceptional. You know when you hold it you are in the presence of a masterfully executed beauty. The venetian inlay really stands out as does the solid wood binding.
I own a couple of high end Martin guitars and was actually shopping for another when I played one of these. While I still love the sound of Martins, you cannot deny they produce a warm set of overtones and that is absent here. Clean and clear as a bell, every note stands out and I cannot dicern any off color harmonics. The sound is not seem to me hollow or tubby like some other Gibby acoustics I have played. This one just makes me smile while picking, strumming or doing fingerstyle.
Be sure to get the message and speak with one of MF's Private Reserve specialists. They can help you pick one and maybe pull a rabbit out of thier hat maybe to really bump the value proposition. So I believe this to be an excellent value. No doubt the combination of quality, features, attractiveness and Gibby name will mean retention of that value in the future.

      Sunburst Songwriter Deluxe Custom

      By HandsomeGuy

      from South Dakota

Comments about Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Custom EC Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I am very pleased with this guitar.I took a chance buying without playing it, but couldn't be happier.I normally play electric but we do have some gigs that call for just acoustic. My Taylor is not electric and the Martin I have is just one of those real fussy guitars that every little thing affects the wood,so I was looking for a good playing tough guitar that can take some road use.The thing that got my attention on this guitar was the Gibson compound radious neck as I have one on an electric that I play.LOVE THE NECK! Needless to say I will probablly be playing alot more acoustic at our gigs.Oh did I say it looks good too.

      Sunburst cutaway custom

      By Marc Trevino

      from Colorado

Comments about Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Custom EC Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've been looking for a high end steel string guitar for several years. I already had a songwriters deluxe from 2004, a Martin SPD-16, several cervantes and ramirez acoustics. I was looking at the PRS angleus, huss & dalton omc, mc, several Bourgouis, Taylors etc. Playing all the guitars mentioned I just loved the gibson sound. However I wanted a higher quality guitar than the standard gibsons. More of what the smaller companies are doing these days. With the new upgrades on this I chose this as a base model and had gibson custom make me one with an Adirondack top, the highest grade rosewood they had, bone nut, saddle, pins, and fishman aura pro instead of the ellipse. The custom shop was very flexible. With no extra charge for the sunburst and cutaway I went for that as well. No one makes a prettier sunburst than gibson. I had to pay $1,300 more for the special top and extras but it was worth it. I played a regular custom cutaway songwriters at the Memphis factory and loved it. A few step up from the regular songwriters. My special ordered Adirondack top does add an extra sparkle. Even with out the special stuff I had done the custom is right up there with the smaller companies... but still has that special gibson sound. I've never played a better sounding steel string. The new neck is the best neck gibson has made. The appointments are flawless and beautiful. The prettiest inlays and bindings I've ever seen. Definitely the best looking guitar I've seen. Not over done. The sound is very versatile. It really works on old blues and you can still pull off Jazz, bluegrass and almost anything. I will love this guitar forever...her name is "Mayalya" A great deal for the regular custom sunburst cutaway songrwriters.

      I just love it

      By Freddyrocker

Comments about Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Custom EC Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar a few months ago used from Musicians Friend, but it is in great condition. I love the compound radius ebony fretboard, playability is fantastic and the sound is outstanding. I have been playing the guitar for only 5 years, but if I had it to start over again, my advice, buy quality the first time, or shortly thereafter, don't wait to buy a quality guitar, it makes a huge different.
