Amazing guitar and electronics

| Review By: Charles Harvey | 3 months, 1 week ago

Features:

The guitar is a Gibson and has all of the typical Gibson character.  It has some esthetic qualities without being gaudy.  I like the mustache bridge and shaped pickguard.  The cutaway makes the upper frets attainable.  The main thing on this guitar is the electronics.  The on board tuner is amazing, but the ability to shape the sound with the electronics adds a dimension that puts this guitar in a whole new level.

Quality:

The craftsmanship and quality are very high.  The acoustic tonal palette is broad and the guitar sounds as good with driving bluegrass as it does with fingerpicking or chordal melodies.

Value:

I bought this guitar in a local store and the price was somewhat less than the MSRP.   Even then it was not cheap by any means.  When considering the prices on some of the other Gibsons and other brand name guitars, the Songwriter Deluxe hods it's own in value.  It might even be a bargain.

Overall:

I have two guitars that I play all the time, a Martin HD35 and the Gibson Songwriter Deluxe.  I would give them both an overall rating of 10 but the Gibson Songwriter Deluxe is the more versatile of the two.

2008 Best AMG for a reason

I went back and forth into shop after shop and played Grand performers to Guild Fm47 even a D45V. In Australia these go from 4500 up to 15 grand for the d45V about 13grand USD. I played them all and couldnt find anything worth the money. Then one day a new shipment came in there she was acoustic with electrics and a Gibson. I played it and it was bought and paid for within thirty minutes. Look at the specs and the sound that projects with those hand carved braces. The only thing that peeved me was that the standard EC then was released and I didnt get to try that first. I havent played it yet but I may just upgrade.

Great Guitar

Call me a martin snob, I tried to fall in love with one of these Gibson but they just sound way to tight to me. No sustain and the sound dies out fast. I only tried one really nice one but the rest were very nasally sounding. I would try a Martin before going to this. It could be that it just needs time to open up but when I pick up a martin I know where my place is. If you have your heart set on these try one at your local guitar shop but with a price like that when in doubt buy from Musicians Friend, not one that has been played by everyone that has walked into the shop.

I tried Martin, Taylor, Guild , Takamine, Larivee and Gibson.  This guitar was my favorite...I already own a Larivee which I really like and was tempted to buy another but I just kept going back to the Gibson.  It plays, sounds and looks amazing, tunes easily and stays in tune.  Its a joy to play and I find it hard to put down. I've seen a few reviews that say its too expensive but to me its worth every penny.
