I've been playing it for a couple of weeks. It plays really well. I like the neck a lot, and even though the body shape took some getting used to, it's quite comfortable. It sounds great - very beefy.
What we working musicians have been waiting for; a bright, affordable, unique, American, and kick@%& axe that absolutely shows no mercy!!
this is a beutiful instrument. the clean sound is one of the clearest ive ever heard and it still delivers amazing crunch and sustain. sound/playability is worth every cent.
The 496/500 pickups produce a rich, full Les Paul sound, but here's where this guitar excels: it is extremely lightweight, it has unrestricted access to picking at or around the neck pickup, and that upper wing provides some nice leverage for jamming.
An ergonomically comfortable guitar that maintains that classic Explorer design, but with the newer X-Plorer name. The swamp ash body lends itself to great guitar tones and the mahogany neck is easy on the hands - allowing fast fretwork! Plugged through either one of my two JCM800's or my plexi 1987X reissue Marshalls, the sound is stellar! Hot, Gibson guitar tones!!!
I didn't think I'd like the smaller body but I was suprised by its comfort.
