Comments about G&L ASAT Classic BluesBoy Electric Guitar:
I bought my USA Bluesboy about 2 years ago, so this is not a honeymoon review. The first thing I noticed was how different the 12" radius neck felt compared to the traditional Fender neck. The second thing I noticed was how I could play the most difficult passages, both single note and chords, and I didn't buzz any strings. I was surprised how much easier it was to play than my Teles and Gibson ES-335, even though the action was set up higher than I like.
The overall quality is first rate. Fit and finish is superb with a number of nice features, such as a real bone nut instead of plastic. Remove the control panel and you'll find high quality wiring like the boutique manufactures use. The only complaint I have is that the fret ends needed filing down, which wasn't a major problem since I have fretting tools, but I've played very inexpensive guitars that were dressed nicely from the factory.
The Seymour Duncan Seth Lover's pickup gives you a traditional PAF sound, but the G&L MFD bridge pickup is a different animal than any Tele pickup. It is fuller and stronger than most, but it's not particularly twangy.
Overall, I'm very happy with the Bluesboy, and use it for about 95% of my gigs.
Comments about G&L ASAT Classic BluesBoy Electric Guitar:
Bar none, these are work even the higher pop.
I just bought a 3 tone brown G&L Bluesboy Classic solid body after much searching over what guitar I needed. The versatility of the Bluesboy with the Seth Lover humbucker and the MFD single coil with the 3 position selector is fantastic. Tone you can use and create to match your needs when running through a Boss GT-10 for sure. I love playing mostly Blues but I do 60-70's rock and Christian contemporary and traditional. I can tell you that this guitar meets all those genres.
The smooth running neck and the quality of the body work overall are fantastic. I own a S-500 as well and these G&L's are second to none. While I've openly complained to G&L about not being found in GC or much in MF, I was told they are more interested in putting out Quality and not Quantity. The are sure correct here as both of my guitars are top notch in the quality department. I truly believe Leo & George would be proud of what their company is putting out.
I sold a Fender 72 Tele Custom with the 4 knobs (2 tone / 2 vol) as I just didn't find the selector switch worked on the top bout for me, plus I wasn't all that happy with the humbucker. I was reluctant to look at another similar set up until I happened to find the Bluesboy Classic at a local store. Plugged into 4 different amps and knew my wallet was going to be breaking out the credit card for my new found love. While I love Fender's,owning a Clapton, Johnson, Amer Delx Tele and a Amer Ash strat along with Fender amps and other brand guitars, I am seeing a change in my guitar stable to the G&L brand. Be sure to give one of these a try along with a good look at the overall quality of these fine guitars. Sometimes hard to find at your local stores, but worth checking out.
Comments about G&L ASAT Classic BluesBoy Electric Guitar:
What a great guitar. This is what the clear orange ASAT Classic Bluesboy has as far as features. A T style guitar with a SD - Seth Lover in the neck position, an ebony fret board, select swamp ash body, rock hard maple neck with vintage tint. Plek system setup. Medium Jumbo Frets. If it had a quarter sawn neck I would have ranked it a 5. What you do get is tonal options galore. Jazz tones, Rock tones, Blues tones for sure, Alt Country Twang you name it you got it with this guitar. Volume and tone knobs have a nice sweep and offer more opportunities to shape your tone. I use a 5e3 Tweed clone Amp with the ASAT and I have found my tone. The chase is over.
Comments about G&L ASAT Classic BluesBoy Electric Guitar:
I went in to a local store to try a few Bluesboy. Sound, paint job, sustain. 5.0It seems they don't have time to file the frets. I find the frets are like on Mexican Fenders. If I'm going to spend $1500.00 on a guitar, polish those frets.Sorry to see G&L deteriorate, it use to be the best. Went down one. 4/5 overall

I recently traded in a beautiful Les Paul 1960 Classic for a Beautiful Orange Blues boy Solid Body G&L and we swapped even up.I thought I was crazy for doing it without pugging it in to any thing. I could tell unplugged in my hands IT WAS IT.Leo may have had something to do with it because this guitar was made for me. Buy it with no hesitation, it will do everything well.Any Regrets of my trade are Long Gone Now. Thanks Leo
Comments about G&L ASAT Classic BluesBoy Electric Guitar:
I played a used Bluesboy at a local music shop. I was looking for a more versatile guitar to replace my Gibson SG Faded and I went around for about two months and played or looked at almost everything available from Gibson, Fender, PRS, Schecter, Ibanez, and I even considered a Carvin. All the time I was looking I just couldn't seem to find anything that came close to the playability, versatility, and tone of this guitar. So after about two months I decided to get it. Mine is a custom ordered version so it has the birdseye maple neck which is just beautiful and it gives the guitar a slightly brighter sound. The great thing about this guitar is that it's so simple yet so versatile. If you're looking for a guitar to play for the rest of your life you have to give this one a try!

Why go G&L over Fender? hmmm.... lets seee...... since leo fender's absence from fender in the early 1980's, fender has continuously slacked of in quality and performance in their instruments. walking into a guitar shop the other day, i picked up a shiny new *american* fender strat that was missing a pickguard screw, a tuning key was bent, and there was a screw missing from the pickguard. choose, G&L and you will never experience any mishaps in quality, sound or playabilty. i own a bluseboy with a humbucker in the neck position, and single coil up front. and might i say, for a "tele", this thing can wail on anything from the who, to janis, to even albert collins styled play.the guitar has a great stage feel, and is on the lighter end of the weight spectrum, and oddly enough, has fairly low levels of that ridiculous stagnant hum you often get from single coils while not playing. as for tone, if you are looking for a telecaster sound, this is as perfect as it gets. G&L is a great alternatuve to your middle priced-highly priced fender/gretsches, and will not dissapoint you. great for all stages, rooms, etc., the spertzel tuners are amazing. stays in tune throught your gig. WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN!!!!
Comments about G&L ASAT Classic BluesBoy Electric Guitar:
I had been looking into buying a new guitar for a while, and I became intrigued by the Fender Thinlines. But I knew I didn't want to travel the route of a MIM Fender again. No knock on them, but as I play more I know what kind of quality I want. The problem is that Fender didn't make an American reissue of the Thinline, and the next best thing was a $3,000+ original. Then I came across the Bluesboy. I knew what G&L was all about, but I didn't want to turn my back on the Fenders I have so long loved. But I'm glad I pulled my head out of my butt, because this guitar is superior to the majority of Fender guitars. The quality is amazing. You can't do any better than hand crafted. I researched this guitar and looked all over for a used one, because I couldn't afford a brand new one. I finally found a beautiful 3-tone sunburst semi hollow Bluesboy 1,200 miles away. I bought it sight unseen. When it came, I couldn't even tell it was used. This guitar is incredible!
Comments about G&L ASAT Classic BluesBoy Electric Guitar:
Been playing 37 plus years and own several higher end guitars. The G&L ASAT Classic BluesBoy has taken over the top spot in my rotation. I'm older now and play out on a semi-pro basis only once or twice a month. I had been alternating between my Les Paul and my Strat at gigs usually ending up with the Strat since the LP weighs a ton. The BluesBoy is kind of in between. You can get LP-ish tone with the Seth Lover neck pickup and a very nice rhythm sound in the middle position. The bridge pickup is more than what you'd expect. I bought mine in clear orange, sight unseen March '06 from this website. Other than raising the action a bit and changing to my gauge strings it was perfect out of the box. The woods and craftsmanship are what you'd expect in a guitar costing much more. Though it ain't cheap it's well worth the price of admission.
Comments about G&L ASAT Classic BluesBoy Electric Guitar:
I have owned this guitar for about three and a half years, and so far it has been amazing. The tone has a definative full sound. The swampash body is lighter thatn any guitar i have ever held in my hand. The sound plugged in and acoustic is perfect. The looks have individual values. out of five high end guitars it is the best sounding the best looking and has the best parts out of any of them. Buy it!
