OVERVIEW

A handmade custom-crafted guitar with classic Leo design.

A finely crafted solidbody that plays buttery smooth with gorgeous woods and premium hardware. The Classic Bluesboy has a solid Swamp Ash body with natural wood binding. The hard rock maple neck with ebony fretboard has a beautifully tinted glossy neck finish. The G&L MFD bridge pickup dispenses traditional single-coil bite and the Duncan SH55N Seth Lover churns out vintage ""Patent-Applied-For"" humbucker tones. Schaller tuners. Deluxe appointments and craftsmanship throughout. Includes deluxe hardshell case.

The patented Magnetic Field Design® pickups use a ceramic bar magnet installed underneath each coil, with soft iron adjustable pole pieces to transfer the magnetic field to the surface of the pickup. By contrast, traditional Alnico type pickups, such as used in the Legacy and George Fullerton models, use nonadjustable Alnico pole pieces leaving the only adjustment being pickup height. The Magnetic Field Design has this adjustment, but further offers individual adjustment of each pole piece, letting the player effectively adjust the output of each string on each pickup. Magnetic Field Design (MFD) yield about twice the output per wind, making the pickup quieter while allowing a greater overall output. The sound of Magnetic Field pickups is slightly warmer with a broader frequency response.

One major Nashville session guitarist remarked that G&L Magnetic Field single-coil pickups sounded as balanced and sweet as his favorite old vintage Alnico equipped axe. The difference is that the MFD pickups sound that good right into his amp without all the EQ tweaking of his mixing console that made his other guitar sound so good. When he ran his G&L though his studio rig, he was truly amazed at the rich and warm, yet clear and sparkly sound.

Comments about G&L ASAT Classic BluesBoy Electric Guitar:

I carefully read the online reviews. MUSICIANS FRIEND has the best deal so far. In a store one cannot tell the difference in looks between the Bluesboy and Classic Bluesboy. You pay more for the finish of the frets and tone control, detail and certification of authenticity which is worth it. A true made in the USA beauty. This guitar is all and more of what the reviews state. As an owner of 11 gits, I made a point of trying the G&L ASAT Classic Bluesboy just to see what the hype is all about. Well, I loved it and ended up buying one. The tone control is very unique in a sense, one can dial in the precise amount of color one desires. If you own a tube musicman amp, you will have a lot of git players envying you. The humbucker on the bridge is perfect for distortion which is not found in Teles. The bridge pup has to be raised to get the Twang attack and you got it nailed to precision. Now you're wailing from blues, country, rock n' roll, reggae, latin, jazz and so on. After playing an entire set it pretty much held its tuning. To me, G&L nailed this puppy down; dotting every 'i' and crossing every 't'. The only fault is the selector switch knob falls off while playing. Something a little glue took care of.

Comments about G&L ASAT Classic BluesBoy Electric Guitar:

As an owner and player of boutique guitars i.e., Fender Custom Shop, PRS, Tom Anderson, Gibson Les Paul Custom, Ibanez, etc. I will not knock any of the above vendors but irrespective of these company claims, none of the above are 100% hand made in the US. The G&L ASAT Blues Classic is just that and everything and more. The playing feel of this guitar, electronics, weight, hardware, finish, Custom case, certificate of Authenticity, etc., totally flawless. The attention to detail makes this guitar a players collectors item. This is my go to guitar and will be everyone else's as soon as you own one. I highly recommend every guitar player try one. Even though its priced close to a Custom shop Tele. The Tele doesn't come close to the mark.

Comments about G&L ASAT Classic BluesBoy Electric Guitar:

Before I write my review no guitar I've played I can consider perfect. I've enjoyed musical instruments my entire life and guitar is my favorite. Out of every guitar I've played or come across, I must say that this bad boy is truly my favorite. I love this guitar, I love the balance of having the clarity and single coil attack in the bridge, the warm and fat acoustic like Seth lover In the neck, along with the adjustable pole pieces in the MFD pickups. The saddle is 6 piece brass and are adjustable. I've been a tele guy since I've first put my hands on one, I love the clarity and attack of their unique single coil pickups, but I've always enjoyed it's boxy look more than a strat, not to mention it's more raw open tone. What I never liked about tele's are the necks, and let me tell you this g&l with the 12 radius fits my hand like no tele I've ever played, it plays like butter. That's all I would expect out of a guitar, the neck and electronics being the 2 most important things to me before I would make my decision, but the quality of this guitar is bar none in every aspect. mine is an alder with maple neck, the frets feel good, it doesn't feel cheap, the nut is real bone, the wiring is superb tone wise and the tuners are top notch. My only gripe is finding the single coil pickups sweet spot, and I mean adjustment. I like to have the overdrive in my rig feel as dynamic and flexible as possible while sounding as natural as possible and that takes a bit of tinkering. Overall I'd be hard pressed to find a better guitar, and in a better, cost effective package. You don't need to shell out thousands for something to get "That" sound, this is truly a players instrument.

I found an transparent orange "PINE" Bluesboy Classic and bought on ebay. I heard samples on Youtube and read reviews on pine telecasters. There have only been a few made. It's the best sounding most versatile guitar I've played, and I've played many high end guitars. Very playable neck, great sustain, nice tone. I won't be playing my asat classic as much now. Man this is a great guitar. Buy a Bluesboy to play any style beautifully.....maybe not metal though.

Comments about G&L ASAT Classic BluesBoy Electric Guitar:

I bought my USA Bluesboy about 2 years ago, so this is not a honeymoon review. The first thing I noticed was how different the 12" radius neck felt compared to the traditional Fender neck. The second thing I noticed was how I could play the most difficult passages, both single note and chords, and I didn't buzz any strings. I was surprised how much easier it was to play than my Teles and Gibson ES-335, even though the action was set up higher than I like.

The overall quality is first rate. Fit and finish is superb with a number of nice features, such as a real bone nut instead of plastic. Remove the control panel and you'll find high quality wiring like the boutique manufactures use. The only complaint I have is that the fret ends needed filing down, which wasn't a major problem since I have fretting tools, but I've played very inexpensive guitars that were dressed nicely from the factory.

The Seymour Duncan Seth Lover's pickup gives you a traditional PAF sound, but the G&L MFD bridge pickup is a different animal than any Tele pickup. It is fuller and stronger than most, but it's not particularly twangy.

Overall, I'm very happy with the Bluesboy, and use it for about 95% of my gigs.

                    Stunning Guitar

Comments about G&L ASAT Classic BluesBoy Electric Guitar:

Bar none, these are work even the higher pop.
I just bought a 3 tone brown G&L Bluesboy Classic solid body after much searching over what guitar I needed. The versatility of the Bluesboy with the Seth Lover humbucker and the MFD single coil with the 3 position selector is fantastic. Tone you can use and create to match your needs when running through a Boss GT-10 for sure. I love playing mostly Blues but I do 60-70's rock and Christian contemporary and traditional. I can tell you that this guitar meets all those genres.

The smooth running neck and the quality of the body work overall are fantastic. I own a S-500 as well and these G&L's are second to none. While I've openly complained to G&L about not being found in GC or much in MF, I was told they are more interested in putting out Quality and not Quantity. The are sure correct here as both of my guitars are top notch in the quality department. I truly believe Leo & George would be proud of what their company is putting out.

I sold a Fender 72 Tele Custom with the 4 knobs (2 tone / 2 vol) as I just didn't find the selector switch worked on the top bout for me, plus I wasn't all that happy with the humbucker. I was reluctant to look at another similar set up until I happened to find the Bluesboy Classic at a local store. Plugged into 4 different amps and knew my wallet was going to be breaking out the credit card for my new found love. While I love Fender's,owning a Clapton, Johnson, Amer Delx Tele and a Amer Ash strat along with Fender amps and other brand guitars, I am seeing a change in my guitar stable to the G&L brand. Be sure to give one of these a try along with a good look at the overall quality of these fine guitars. Sometimes hard to find at your local stores, but worth checking out.

What a great guitar. This is what the clear orange ASAT Classic Bluesboy has as far as features. A T style guitar with a SD - Seth Lover in the neck position, an ebony fret board, select swamp ash body, rock hard maple neck with vintage tint. Plek system setup. Medium Jumbo Frets. If it had a quarter sawn neck I would have ranked it a 5. What you do get is tonal options galore. Jazz tones, Rock tones, Blues tones for sure, Alt Country Twang you name it you got it with this guitar. Volume and tone knobs have a nice sweep and offer more opportunities to shape your tone. I use a 5e3 Tweed clone Amp with the ASAT and I have found my tone. The chase is over.

I went in to a local store to try a few Bluesboy. Sound, paint job, sustain. 5.0It seems they don't have time to file the frets. I find the frets are like on Mexican Fenders. If I'm going to spend $1500.00 on a guitar, polish those frets.Sorry to see G&L deteriorate, it use to be the best. Went down one. 4/5 overall

Comments about G&L ASAT Classic BluesBoy Electric Guitar:

I played a used Bluesboy at a local music shop. I was looking for a more versatile guitar to replace my Gibson SG Faded and I went around for about two months and played or looked at almost everything available from Gibson, Fender, PRS, Schecter, Ibanez, and I even considered a Carvin. All the time I was looking I just couldn't seem to find anything that came close to the playability, versatility, and tone of this guitar. So after about two months I decided to get it. Mine is a custom ordered version so it has the birdseye maple neck which is just beautiful and it gives the guitar a slightly brighter sound. The great thing about this guitar is that it's so simple yet so versatile. If you're looking for a guitar to play for the rest of your life you have to give this one a try!
