Comments about G&L ASAT Classic Bluesboy Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

I just bought a new G&L Classic ASAT Bluesboy, semi-hollow day before yesterday that went into band practice with me last night. As a bass player, my impression of what is a "good" guitar may be different than others, so, I was eager to see what our two guitarists thought of it. Short response, both loved it and wanted it. Lead guitarist wanted me to bring it to the next gig for his back up guitar. (No my brother, you must get your own.) Gotta say, there was a lot of love for the Bluesboy last night. It's not pure Tele twang, the pickups are voiced just differently enough that it is a unique animal. We were running through a 50w Fender tweed, pretty hot, and I was getting no squeal or microphonic noise seated atop the amp. The others were getting no feedback at various positions around the stage as the guitar was passed around. Very toneful guitar that cut through an acoustically awkward room where we were rehearsing for the first time. I did change the plastic nut to a bone nut, a standard upgrade I do for any guitar or bass. Both fellows said they would not change another thing on it. I think that's about as good an endorsement as you can get. I would recommend one in a heartbeat. I think the other guys would as well. It is probably the nicest guitar I have owned out of a dozen or so Fender, Gibson, Epiphone and Ibanez. Bird's eye maple neck is beautiful as is the ash body and finish, good tight neck pocket, way above the MIM Tele I own. I am very pleased with my G&L purchase.

Comments about G&L ASAT Classic Bluesboy Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

I was very happy to have this guitar at retail on a scratch/dent sale? I find so little value in this guitar that I am going to send it back even at off. Here is the good? it is a pretty guitar? nice wood grain in neck and body? satin finish neck? intonation is good? electronics all worked okay? I like the mfd single coil pickup? Here is the bad: the humbucker is weak and needs replacing with something else like a duncan jazz neck? One of the stiffest necks I have ever played? needs fret refinishing/smoothing, can feel frets on top and bottom of neck as you play? smaller tele LIKE downsized body? not at all or even near the thin line tele clone it represents itself to be? needs one more string tee for d&g, possibly two more?I would be angry if I paid the full retail price for this guitar? this guitar is on a quality level of a squire or affinity strat/tele? if you have any experience playing guitar I do not think you will be happy with this guitar? only good for those who know no better?

Comments about G&L ASAT Classic Bluesboy Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

At first I was not that interested since this is made in Indonesia. But the craftsmanship is spectacular. I had a Gibson SG right before this asat and it was a great transition. The semi hollow is light weight but not too light. The neck is what really sold me. I had decided I wanted a tele but did not want to get an MIM and have to replace everything. I will only change the saddles on this guitar, maybe the nut once it wears down. Overall this G&L smokes a lot of the other teles I have had and tried lately. It is a great guitar, grab one if you see it!!

Nice chunk of wood

Comments about G&L ASAT Classic Bluesboy Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

Bought it. A little heavy, but not too bad. It is balanced with the heaviness of the neck. The neck has a nice baseball bat feel. Indonesian guitars always have sharp frets. For a little more workmanship, the frets should be rounded like the more expensive Fenders. The finish on the neck is thin, feels almost like no finish. I have gotten used to it and like it.The routing reduces weight, but I'd prefer a tummy cut and arm contour. The ashtray bridge is not necessary. Should have no edge. The brass saddles are nice for sustain and comfortable to rest your hand on for muting. The pickups are heavy sounding. Not like the thin sound of it's cousin. I like the G&L sound. It is unique and musical. I'll need to get a molded hardshell case for better protection, though the padded gig bag is nice. Overall, I am pleased with this chunk of wood and would recommend it. I am preferring it over the traditional cousin.
