Comments about G&L Legacy"Lefty" Electric Guitar:
Being a lefty, it can be a challenge to find just the right guitar. Even large music stores will sometimes have only one or two lefties in stock to try out. No one else in my band or the musicians I regularly jam with is a lefty.
This guitar has blown me away. I love the look, the feel, the playability, the balance (in weight and in tonality), the versatility in terms of tonal variations (pickups, tone controls, whammy). Oh and did I mention playability? This is one of those guitars that makes you want to pick it up and play it -- that calls to you from the corner.
I love the pickups, the whammy bar, the switches and controls. I wish the treble attentuator had a bit better graduation -- despite the continuous knob, it's mainly "off" or "on." The special whammy system is as brilliant as you would expect from Leo Fender. this guitar is amazingly versatile in terms of the different tonal colors you can get from it without any effects at all, and it works well with all the effects I've tried it with.
I've only had this for a month, but everything seems quite solid. The fit and finish are excellent everywhere on the guitar. The set-up right out of the box is very good -- just a shade lower than I like the action, but that's easily remedied. Stays in tune great, even with extensive use of the whammy. The controls all work smoothly with no static or interference. Sounds good through several different amps (both tube amps and solid state).
The playability of this instrument is amazing. I was not expecting to love it as much as I do. One of the ways i judge the quality of an electric guitar is how well it sounds and plays when it's not plugged in. This guitar is a dream in that regard. It es exceptionally easy to play and sounds great with every amp and effect I've put it through. I would definitely gig with this guitar.
