Bought this as a Stupid Deal of the Day and got a great deal. Almost returned it because the neck pickup wasn't placed properly so the 1st string sound was sounding pretty dead. I took off the pickguard and positioned the pickup properly and I was good to go. Great sounding pickups and the look and feel are great, too. Well worth the money!

I was so looking forward to getting a great playing and sounding guitar based on the reviews I read.
Instead, after eager anticipation, I opened the box to find a guitar that had a poor setup, fret buzz, and scratch on the frets when I tried to bend notes. The neck fit to the body was sloppy with huge gaps as well. I really wanted this guitar to be a great find. Instead, I got a great disappointment. I'm sending it back before even plugging it in. Did I get a lemon, or is this representative of what G&L is making?

Comments about G&L Limited Edition Tribute ASAT Classic Electric Guitar:

Received this today! Bought for the color mostly, as I had similar guitar many years ago. Set up is playable, tone is good, neck is good. I almost can't believe how good this thing is. My house is full of guitars from p.r.s. Fender, gibson ect. This guitar I will actually be playing. Thinking about buying more g&l guitars! With next day air this guitar wasn't even a quarter the cost of some in collection. Buy this now!!

Comments about G&L Limited Edition Tribute ASAT Classic Electric Guitar:

I bought this as a SDD. It really is a fine instrument. The pickups sound great. Just like a vintage Tele. The knobs and selector switch actually feel quite substantial. A surprise at this price point. Tuners are adequate. It stays in tune, intonated perfectly, and it looks great.

I marked it down a star for some fit and finish issues. There was some fret sprout, one or two high frets, the factory leveling left some frets without a proper crown, the finish on the back of the neck needed a little buffing with some micromesh pads. I worked on it for about an hour total and now it is smooth as silk. Like many of the bargain Asian import guitars, the basic workmanship is actually very good for the money you pay, but you will have to do a proper setup. The only guitar I've ever bought that didn't need one was a PRS Custom 24. So, I expect any guitar I buy to require a touch-up.

FWIW, I own 16 or so guitars including Gibsons, Fenders, Guild (Rhode Island versions), G&Ls, Epiphones, Ibanez, and so on. This one is currently number 1 (but it's new to me and it's still in the honeymoon period). I was very pleasantly surprised by it, though.

Comments about G&L Limited Edition Tribute ASAT Classic Electric Guitar:

Always wanted a G&L and this seemed like the perfect price point, where if I didn't like it I could most likely sell it for what I had in it. That being said, I wasn't expecting much, but I was completely surprised. The guitar is absolutely beautiful, the fit and finish are perfect. The neck is as smooth as I've ever felt, no sticky spots and effortless to play. Almost like a tung oil finish. Smooth fret ends, good relief, just well put together. The pickups, meh, take them or leave them. Played through a DRRI with a little bit of compression and some OD. I'll replace them when I have the time. Still a fantastic deal and a wonderful guitar. I'll buy more G&L if this is the example

Comments about G&L Limited Edition Tribute ASAT Classic Electric Guitar:

I tried for the natural finish G&L ASAT when it was SDOTD awhile back but it sold out fast. Then this cream ASAT came up on Stupid Deal and I didn't hesitate. Without thinking about it, I matched my cream and white Squire Strat...
Workmanship in this G&L is first rate. Great finish, level frets with a nice smooth finish on the ends, and a decent set-up out of the box. The maple neck is very good, unfinished, well- maybe a light oil or somethingthane as a sealer, but smooth and fast (which I prefer) and not at all grabby, with a slim taper and profile that suits my aged fingers. There was no evidence of a joint on this neck. Tuning machines exceed this price point. Electronics are up to the job here, twang when you want it, and great tone when you want that. I still have the original strings on it, too lazy to install my heavy gauge yet, but these are adequate for Open A... The finish on the body looks like it's a mile deep, smooth as glass, and not a flaw. There is a slight gap between the neck p'up and the pickguard which is off center by a fraction of an inch, but this is cosmetic and you really have to be picky... The only thing I might upgrade is the nut.
All in all a great little Tele' which I wouldn't be afraid to gig with, but mine will live its life in the old hog barn studio.

Got this on Stupid deal of the Day, so like, can't lose. It's 8 lbs which is over my threshold, so I play it sitting only. It's very comfortable and balanced so that's not a problem. I wanted a dedicated alternate tuning guitar for slide and this is it. It's in open G and I have a great time doing delta slide with it
