OVERVIEW

Leo's evolution of the traditional double-cutaway bolt-on axe with some impressive innovations.

The G&L S-500 debuted in 1983 as Leo's own evolution of the traditional double-cutaway bolt-on axe, delivering innovations including the Dual-Fulcrum vibrato and Magnetic Field Design single-coil pickups, each designed by Leo Fender himself. These MFD pickups deliver a bright and sparkly top end and robust bottom end, all without losing midrange focus.

You'll find plenty of punch in the MFD pickups, but what's surprising is how glassy and detailed they become as you roll back the volume and bass controls, the latter a part of the S-500's PTB (Passive Treble and Bass) system which functions on all three pickups. What's more, the G&L Tribute Series S-500 includes a push-pull expander switch on the treble pot to allow neck+bridge or all three pickups together. In a pinch, the neck+bridge combo does a convincing faux ASAT Special.

The new G&L Tribute Series S-500 features one of Leo's favorite pairings: the power of MFD pickups mellowed by the high porosity of a mahogany body. Making the most of this delicious combo is Leo's Dual-Fulcrum vibrato, a work of engineering art which allows bending up or down with unsurpassed stability, while offering a silky feel through its beefy aluminum vibrato arm.

Leo's forward-looking spirit is clearly reflected in the S-500, a guitar he designed for players who share that spirit. And now, it's available at a price within reach of every working musician.

Comments about G&L S500 Electric Guitar:

I have been playing for a while and have tried different guitars, I love strays but this is a better guitar. The G&L guitars have a much better tone than the Fenders, George and alaeo truly outdid themselves when they built these guitars and the fact that they are hand made gives them a character you can't find in other guitars. If you get the opportunity to buy one then you should jump on it you will be glad you did. I would definatly recommend it to a friend

Comments about G&L S500 Electric Guitar:

Great guitar. No cons. Compared to a Fender Stratocaster this is just so much fuller, smoother, and overall a much better guitar. For a singlecoil pickup the MFD-pickups also is quite noisefree.

Every single part of this guitar is great. From the craftmanship of the whole guitar to small details like how you can adjust the dual fulcrum vibrato system. It also looks great!I got the one in Emerald blue colur with white pickboard and maple neck. Best looking guitar ever.

You cant go wrong with this guitar. I play everything from pop to black metal on it. It is just so powerfull and smooth! And for a tremolo bridge, the sustain is magnificent!

I would recommend you guys to take a look on a comparison between normal strat pickups, and these.

It doesnt have as much of the crispy vintage sound, but it is so much more!

This is like David Gilmour had a baby with a Stratocaster.

Comments about G&L S500 Electric Guitar:

I play mostly blues and funk based rock, and teach lessons 5 days a week.
I play my G&L through a Rivera Clubster, using various effects. I have recorded and performed with this guitar, and it is my #1.
I picked up my S-500 a few months ago, and have been in love ever since.
Let me put it this way: I sold my Gibson ES 333 after playing the S-500.

Comments about G&L S500 Electric Guitar:

I sold my American and Mexican Fenders after buying my Tribute S-500 and Legacy. The build quality, setup, appearance, and tone all surpass anything at this price. I have recorded and performed with this guitar, and it blows me away.
