The G&L Comanche is Leo's final word on the traditional double-cutaway bolt-on axe. Fact is, the first thing you'll notice about the Comanche is the distinctive shape of the Magnetic Field Design Z-Coil pickups designed by Leo Fender himself. These pickups deliver a bright and sparkly top end while offering a robust bottom end, all without any 60-cycle hum.
You'll find plenty of power in the Z-coil pickups, but what's surprising is how glassy and detailed they become as you roll back the volume and bass controls, the latter a part of the Comanche's PTB (Passive Treble and Bass) system. What's more, the Tribute Series Comanche includes an expander switch on the treble pot to allow neck+bridge or all three pickups together. In a pinch, the neck+bridge combo does a convincing faux ASAT Special.
The new G&L Tribute Series Comanche features one of Leo's favorite pairings: the power of MFD pickups mellowed by the high porosity of a mahogany body. Making the most of this delicious combo is Leo's Dual-Fulcrum vibrato, a work of engineering art which allows bending up or down with unsurpassed stability, while offering a silky feel through its beefy aluminum vibrato arm.
The Comanche was the very last double-cutaway bolt-on guitar designed by Leo Fender, the culmination of everything he had learned during his amazing lifetime. And now, it's available at a price within reach of every working musician.

Comments about G&L Tribute Comanche Electric Guitar:
The hype is that Leo Fender developed the "next generation" of guitar at G&L. Guess what: believe it! I play humbucker guitars often w/coil splitting but dis-liked the thin split sound. What about starting with a supercharged "single coil" to get close to a humbucker sound, but with the clarity of singles? For me thats why Im playing this. For you Strat fans, all the Strat tones are there plus a lot more. Note: you are starting out with P90 type tones: stronger in output than a single coil. You are adding the full-range power of Leo's MFD ceramic pickups. The down side? They they are full range, this is not your plug and play Fender vintage tone. The up-side? These are full-range: you can get vintage tone, just need to adjust the tone on your amp (reduce the mids) and the guitar. Did I mention the added bonus: the technology of the P-bass pickup is applied here: no 60 cycle hum in any pickup position (!).
But wait there's more: the secret weapon: the two tone controls, for rolling off both the highs AND the lows, independent of each other. This is a revolution in tone controls (and it's passive, no battery required!). It's key for at least three things. 1)roll the treble almost to nothing to get your classic Fender tones 2)roll the bass down when you use effects to cut thru the mix w/o low end mud 3)set your amp to that the wide open tone controls sound as big as humbuckers... then back off tone and volume so your default is a single coil sound, but can go-to-eleven when you want it...all while retaining single coil clarity! Yes there's more: a toggle (or push pull on later models) to add two more positions to the standard 5-way Strat selector. As for quality, after handling several Tribute imports, including 2012 and 2013 Indonesian factory builds, I must conclude that the quality level is high: better than Fender mexican, possibly on par with Fender USA. Don't let the price point fool you, these feel-top notch: no need to consider upgrading components (except my preference for metal knobs rather than the Strat-like plastic ones). As for the vibrato bridge, I dont use this, but i am told it kicks butt compared to most. Investors: if you are buying a guitar with re-sale in mind, best avoid G&L, as most people dont value their flexibility because people want plug and play tone. However you may wish to consider, if you find a G&L that you like, the new Tributes seem to come with a 10 year warranty these days, not too shabby). Enjoy!

This guitar sound fantastic. I do not need a MIA or LP or prs. I have a G & L
Paint, Pickup's, hardware, design, tuners, fit and neck is top notch and the price is affordable. Schector and Fender watch out. Ohh I forgot Fender owns these guys.
