I have had so many guitars over the 40 years of playing from cheap to custom shop and I say with full confidence that this is no doubt a pro level guitar with tone for days. Everything on this guitar plays and works just as it should with no issues at all. I love the pickups cause you can roll off your volume without losing any tone from the pickups. It plays like butter and the hardware is spot on and would take this to play in a show with out worry. Get one while you can and pray they make a S500 and Comanche at that price point soon. G&L has done it again and needs to be apluded.

Not Sure What All The Hype Is About

Guitar came with a horrible buzz on open E string. Guitar very heavy. Sound OK. Better off with a Squier Classic Vibe.

Comments about G&L Tribute Series Legacy with Flamed Maple Top:

Got this to replace another one exactly like this one that was stolen and got it for almost half off of the original price because of a crack in the clear coat on the back.

Comments about G&L Tribute Series Legacy with Flamed Maple Top:

I have purchased two other expensive guitars recently and this G and L for 299 contends with them in terms of quality, sound, components, sound, tone, and pickups. The pickups on this guitar are very good, even though they are made in Indonesia. Indonesia is making great guitars as of late. I have a Tribute ASAT Classic semi solid tele that is swamp ash and a beautiful vintage sunburst. It is also a great guitar. My next guitar may be another G and L, either a Legacy or S500, maybe a solid Bluesboy.

Comments about G&L Tribute Series Legacy with Flamed Maple Top:

G&L should really consider making more of these because for the price you can't beat them.I Love the feel of the neck which is the very first deciding factor on any guitar for me.The pickups have great tone and the finish is beautiful. If they come out with this kind of offer again you better snatch one up!!!I was lucky enough to get an open box blemish model which I might add had no signs of use and was in perfect condition.

Comments about G&L Tribute Series Legacy with Flamed Maple Top:

I was looking for a strat to play surf music with when I saw the Tribute Series Legacy with Flamed Maple Top on-line. There weren't many details, pictures or reviews, fortunately GC had all three colors on the wall to check out. The in store price was higher than Musicians Friend on line price and since the sunburst was out of stock, GC would not price match. Musicians Friend had 1 sunburst left in stock and I bought it! The guitar came set up right out of the box with a very strait neck, all tools for making adjustments and trem bar. There were no adjustments needed on this one and it's lighter and more resonant than the ones at GC. While at GC, I played the G&L against a couple American made Fender strats, though the look of the Fenders are more appealing to me the tone of the G&L's were strikingly superior. G&L's tone knobs give far more usable tonal variations than most other guitars. The overall feel and sound of the guitar is excellent which was the deciding factor. Fit and finish is excellent, no big gaps between body and neck, it stays in tune well once strings are stretched, even when tremolo is used. The only minor fault is the trem bar sits close to the body preventing heavier use. I like the thinner modern neck that keeps its profile pretty even from nut to body. After all is said, I'm ecstatic with the purchase; the guitar sounds great, lots of sustain, stands out in my herd and is one of the best bangs for the buck right now.

Comments about G&L Tribute Series Legacy with Flamed Maple Top:

Very impressed with workmanship. In particular, frets edges were very smooth, unlike some Fender MIM and other foreign made instruments. Setup was good although I lowered action slightly to suit my taste. Great value.

Comments about G&L Tribute Series Legacy with Flamed Maple Top:

I always wanted to own a G&L and this special flamed maple was the ideal opportunity. At first I was surprised because it came with thicker strings than the ones I'm used to (I used ernie ball super slinky on my strats) but I got used to the gauge pretty quickly and I love it.
But what was a complete surprise (for good) are the tone controls, they give this guitar a tonal versatility not available in any of my other strat type guitars (3 Mexican made and 2 squiers).
Another note is that the tremolo works very well and the G&L tremolo arm system is great.
Overall I totally recommend this guitar even if it's your first strat type guitar.

Comments about G&L Tribute Series Legacy with Flamed Maple Top:

I was a little skeptical about this guitar due to the low price on it. But I decided to take a chance on it, partially because I am a sucker for red flamed maple finishes. It arrived, and it was in perfect condition when I unboxed it. Very minor adjustment on the springs for the bridge but that was it. I like the bridge to be level with the body of the guitar, so I adjusted it to my liking. It sounds good through my Fender amps, nice chime like you would expect from single coil pickups. Very nice. Using overdrive things can get a bit noisy, but most single coil pickup exhibit that so it wasn't unexpected. According to G&L's website the body is mahogany instead of swamp ash or alder that most of these guitars have. That may have some effect on the overall tone. I also have a US made Legacy, so I have a very good point of comparison for the guitar. All in all I am happy with this guitar...hard to beat at the price. Finish great, neck great, no ragged fret ends, and a huge value for the money.
