Tonal versatility at its best!

The Type2 Convertible is equipped with Duncan P-Rail pickups that allow the player to select between P-90, humbucker, and single-coil sounds all in one guitar. It also features a chambered solid mahogany body with carved mahogany top (natural and burgundy models) or carved maple top (black and sunburst models), mahogany set-neck, 24 3/4" scale, 12" radius, ebony fingerboard with 22 frets, Graphtech ResoMax bridge and the Godin High-Definition Revoicer.

Includes gig bag.

H.D.R. High-Definition Revoicer
The H.D.R. revoices and augments the frequency range of each pickup and allows the player to go from passive to active pickups with the push of a button. Comments about Godin Icon Type 2 Convertible Electric Guitar:

      I've been collecting for years but only been playing a short while. I wanted to get a guitar that could do a bunch of different tones but didn't look like a Mustang.

      Really beautiful looking guitar. It has the best shaped neck I have ever played on (I have 10 guitars)There is just something about its feel that encourages me to play. Very smooth, perfect position for my hand. My hand rarely gets tired. It isn't even all that heavy. There is a heft to it, but it is not encumbering. Tuners are great even if not locking one.

      The sound is just awesome. SD hit it out of the park for a great pick up. The three way swiching on both pickups gives you so many tonal options, then if not satisfied you can make the PRail go active with the revoicer. Hard to describe the tonal change, but play it clean to get the most benefit out of the various options. I use a Traynor 50CVS amp and I can get almost any tone from country Tele to near EMG death metal. (Need to really work the settings, but it is possible.

      Only problem is I don't have the burgandy one. The fat black is awesome,nice shine, great cream binding that match the Prail, but it is still just a shiney black guitar.

      I have had 5 good musicians offer to buy it off me for what I paid .1300 online from within Canada. They have said it plays and looks better than an LP Standard...pretty high praise. (I still want the burgandy.)

      My recomendation is find a place that has one, drive to the next state if you have to, try it through a nice clean amp, try the switches feel how nice it is, and just try not to buy it on the spot. It will be hard! For the price this is best guitar you can get. Don't misunderstand me about the crunch tones, they are awesome too, but on clean it is in a class on its own. No one mentions that the HB mode with revoicer on sounds like nothing else. Because the HB is not two singles, its a P90/single and its sounds noticibly different. Go out and play one to find out for yourself. I doubt you will be disappointed.

      The only complaint is no trem,bigby or locking tuners. However if you like the look and feel of an LP but want a lot more versatility then try one of these.

      Comments about Godin Icon Type 2 Convertible Electric Guitar:

      If you want a sound just like a Tele; Get a Tele
      If you want a sound just like a les paul;Get a L/P
      Do all model Teles sound the same?
      Do all Les Paul models sound the same?
      If so; why different models?
      That being said ;Let me say this
      Don,t expect this guitar to do all the above;
      Theres a lot of tone in this guitar
      Mine is well constructed.
      Came set up as I would have set it;
      I have several guitars Rock to jazz and use
      light9-42 to heavy 12-56 guages on them ;setting
      them to suit myself.
      The neck is straight .the frets are level.
      Mixing of the pickup combinations,really brings out some nice sounds.
      I think for the price , its definatly a keeper!

      Comments about Godin Icon Type 2 Convertible Electric Guitar:

      Bought this guitar to fill the gaps between my Strat and Taylor T5 Semi-Hollow, and I'm thoroughly pleased.

      This instrument is quality, beautiful construction, top to bottom, and the Seymour Duncan P-Rails offer incredible flexibility and range.

      You can cycle through Single coil, Humbucker, and P90 settings, and combine them all in more ways than I will probably ever fully utilize; but it's always nice to have that flexibility easily at hand.

      I was warned by the dealers that to be cautious in thinking it's three guitars-in-one, but now that I've worked with the Icon Type II, I strongly disagree. And the inbetween settings -- for example P90 in the neck, single coil at bridge, with the in the neck position -- offers some of the more unique sounds.

      An easy player, the guitar feels tight and responsive.

      After all this, the rectifier is a great way to take it to 11, when needed.
