      o.k. , I've been holding off for
close to 3 years now, but will now review. This is one fun guitar to play. It is made in Korea, but it is put together really well. The neck is a real joy to play. look, I've been playing for over thirty years. I am blessed to own Gibsons, Fenders, no names, and Gretches. I would highly recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a hollow body. The stock pups are able to sound clean and easy or down right nasty and dirty, My background? I've been influenced by Iggy and the stooges,The Who, MC5, Ramones, and The Clash. I've spent much time in the studio, on both sides of the glass. Also on the road. I know good sound and good quality when I hear it. If you want to be agressive, then this guitar will suite you well. On the other hand, if you like clean folk or blues, great guitar for these styles too. I play all these styles of music, and have much recording and commercial experiance. Like I said, I have been holding off for three years. I wanted to give this guitar a chance before I submitted a review. For the price, buy it. For you prima donnas moaning about switching out the stock pups. What ever. If you wanted the upgrade, you should have bought it in the first place. Don't waste everybody's time complaining about the pups. They are fine. I have allways purchased guitars for the sound they produce, not for what I think they should sound like. That's why I own so many. My 5120 stays in tune. I've got the orange finish. The wood grain, binding and color is awesome! I've got the clear pickguard. Most object to this pickguard, but I think it looks great. I got a great deal on this guitar, but would have no objections to the price tag or more. You know you want to buy it, so what are you waiting for???

I admit, i bought this guitar a year ago for its looks and the reviews. It has a great sound and playability too. However, the body is made of some very shoddy material. I put it down on my couch and the input jack that plugs into the side punched clean through leaving a hole where the jack was. the tuners are cheap and go out if tune easily. Finally, it seems that everything that screws on to this guitar comes unscrewed. My biggest complaint is the wafer-thin laminate body material. No excuse for that. Sorry, i know you want to hear good things about this beauty. It does have its aforementioned merits.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5120 Electromatic Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

This is my second 5120 model in the last 6 weeks.
the first one was returned with multiple problems
to many to explain. the second one was replaced promptly and the service impressed me. is a good one The second one, but has a fuzzy spot or two which I can work out. The tone is great. I have
owned gretches since for 50 Years +. I wish they were still made in the USA. This model is a keeper
and I'm glad I took a chance on the second one.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5120 Electromatic Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I am currently experimenting with different sounds. This Gretch has a nice mellow sound that hits the spot. I have no problems whatsoever with the negatives others have mentioned. My advice is to chord or finger cleanly and you won't have fret buzz. I may change the pickups at some point, for now though, these serve my purpose.

This guitar has rich sold tone and has been trouble free for three years. The worst thing I have to say is that I needed to raise the action just a little to eliminate a slight buzz on the E.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5120 Electromatic Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Currently owning a few Strats, a Tele, a few acoustics, and a Les Paul...this finishes all my quests in tonal variety. What a wonderful guitar, and it didn't break the bank! I did change to Ernie Ball .009's though. The strings that came with it sounded good enough, they were just not what I would normally use. I do some jazz, some Allman Brothers, etc. This now does both equally well. As for the few cons I read about this, I have no bad experiences with this guitar yet. The Gretsch humbuckers, will sing or growl at will. I may get another, for those odd tunings!

I bought mine for a little less because it had a few scratches. The cable does not "snap in" when you plug it in, this bothers me a little. Otherwise I like it for home jamming. Stage work, for me, would require a better Gretsch. It looks cool though.

I've had les pauls, prs, etc..mate this with a fender hot rod deluxe or blues deluxe, and if you don't suck,...rockabilly/country/rock magic will happen..I use this in my rockabilly band...it has changed the way I play...you can really dig into it and pick hard and it takes it all, or soft passages sound amazing too..I replaced the stock pickups , but the stock sounded darnmn near as good!..it has payed for itself , for me, 20 fold

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5120 Electromatic Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I have been watching this guitar for sometime and when it went on sale I jumped on it and I am glad I did. My current setup was running a customized '72 Thinline Tele (P-90 in the bridge) through some effects into a 5 watt tube amp connected to a homemade cabinet with 10" speaker. Apartment jamming setup. When the Gretsch arrived I removed the foam pad from under the bridge then adjusted the intonation by the placement of the bridge. This was easy and took only a few minutes. I then jammed for a while. The new Gretsch has an awesome clean tone. You can also get really cool dirty tones through a tube screamer and adding some reverb. I did play it through a BigMuff Pi and yes, the tone is killer, but the feedback is enormous. Then, while jamming I did notice that the action was a little high so I lowered the bridge and re-adjusted intonation. That helped some but I also noticed a slight bow in the neck and that while running up the frets the intonation was off. I gave it a few days to see if the change in humidity from shipping would clear the neck bow but it did not so today I adjusted the truss rod. I had only done this once before but it is pretty straight forward and again, only took a few minutes. The intonation up the fret board is now on and the action is even easier. So in the end I only had to make small adjustments and now have a rockin' jam rod. I am pleased with my purchase.
