OVERVIEW

When the Gretsch R&D team recently unearthed a Baldwin-era Filter'Tron pickup with knockout punch and phenomenal twang, they incorporated its DNA into dynamic "Black Top" Filter'Tron pickups, which now endow Electromatic hollow-body instruments such as the G5422TDC with an electrifying voice and identity.

The G5422TDC Electromatic Hollowbody Guitar is a sharp Gretsch guitar with a bound double-cutaway hollowbody featuring sound-post bracing and elegant bound f holes. Other features include a maple neck, bound rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and hump-block pearloid inlays, silver plexi pickguard, three-position pickup switch, classic "G" arrow control knobs, rosewood-based Adjusto-Matic bridge and Bigsby-licensed B60 vibrato tailpiece, vintage-style open-back tuners and chrome-plated hardware.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5422TDC Electromatic Hollowbody Guitar:

The guitar's finish, workmanship, looks, feel, playability is outstanding. Out of the box it was still in tune and I believe the inspection card was accurate (finish, intonation, tuning, electronics, etc all checked.) The walnut finish is a brownish / red color that is really a thing of beauty(I kid you not). Just fyi - stamped that it was made in Korea. I had it for 2 weeks now and I am really enjoying it. Gotta say well done Gretsch.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5422TDC Electromatic Hollowbody Guitar:

Quite a mix...good cost but rough out of the box experience.
I had to setup everything and it's still not perfect.
Neck - bowed, truss rod totally loose.
Bridge - needed to be higher on fat strings due to fret buzz. (I still can't get rid of all buzz but it's workable now)
Knobs(potentiometers) - horrible, crunchy depending on humidity and temp.
Bridge - had to adjust a few strings for intonation.
I love the deep dark red walnut finish with nice trim.

Here's the crrrazy part, I'm loving the sound of the pickups/tremolo/body so much that it's worth the pain and dissappointment somehow...

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5422TDC Electromatic Hollowbody Guitar:

I have a 5244 for several months now, and I really like it a lot. VERY high quality, great sounding versatile pickups, smooth, fast, comfortable, and beautiful to play as well as to look at. Quality build, a joy to play.

I have about 15 electric guitars, and the Gretsch 5422 is one of my most played. The pickups respond very well to slight adjustment of pole pieces and overall height, the tone can be shaped the way you like it.Can easily handle most styles except maybe some types of metal, and maybe even that.
Very ringing sound, and a steal at the price. Make sure to get a hard case - this guitar deserves the best.

      Highly recommended!

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5422TDC Electromatic Hollowbody Guitar:

This is my first review, but I had to give my comments. I owned a Nashville in the late 70's
and I loved the sound. I bought the g5122 and I
liked it fine, but the sound was more like a gibson more than a gretsch. Because I had just bought the 5122, they let me return & pay the differance & sent the 5422. Well the binding was great around the f holes, although I am a fan of the thumb inlays, I have come to like the new inlays r e a l quick. But the sound is what makes this new 5422 feel like I own a GRETSCH!
