Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6040MCSS Synchromatic Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
My comments in the con section aren't really negatives, I just realize that many Guitarist don't realize the limitations of full size archtop guitars. It won't be as loud acoustically as a flattop acoustic guitar and you can't play it through an amplifier as loud as you would play a solidbody or semi-hollowbody guitar without suffering feedback. However, with it's carved spruce top this guitar sounds as good as archtops selling for three times as much or more. I own Gibson L-5's & L-4's as well as Guild Johnny Smith Awards and Stuart X-700's, It's my opinion that the carved spruce top is a larger component of an Archtop's tone than wheather or not the back and sides of the guitar are made from laminated maple or maple as solid hardwood. I think this guitar represents it's self very well as a carved Archtop Guitar.
