Records Well, Handles many many styles well

By Ryan Bradley

from Los Angeles

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6120 Chet Atkins Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

This Guitar came from the factory perfectly set up. Neck Pickup is super fat and great for buttery jazz, Bridge pickup has enough bite to play country licks or albert collins style. I've used it to record Guns and Roses Style leads as well as Chet Atkins fingerstyle Mr. Sandman. Records very very well. I use it with, Bassman, Deluxe Reverb, AC15, Blues Junior and Twin Reverb. All of them sound great. Check itunes for Ry Bradley "Rythoven" to hear it with an AC 15 turned way up.
I use this 3-5 times a week on stage, it always serves me very well. If you've never had a bigsby on a guitar before I recommend writting on the bridge and nut with a graphite pencil so that the strings slide across with no friction. Once I did the pencil trick I never had a problem with staying in tune with bigsby and bending tele style. Also most times wigglying the whammy bar will get it to snap back in to tune after an adventurous solo. Mine is Black and I get no stop complements on how great it looks.

Everything is perfectly crafted on mine. they are made in Japan, which has always been a consistent place of quality workmanship for many guitars I've boughten.
It's definately an investment, but this guitar does so many things well.

My dream guitar

By KAW

from Mid-Michigan

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6120 Chet Atkins Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I have wanted one of these since I first heard Duane Eddy play "Rebel Rouser" in the late 50's. I was able to obtain a vintage 1959 from the widow of a musician in my area. The action of this guitar is incredible and the tone is pure heaven. As I am a child of the 50's/60's I got the newest VOX AC15C1 and almost always play it in the clean mode. I'm still adjusting to the tone switch (no tone knob), but the Filtertron pickups are great. To paraphrase another reviewer in these pages, if there is a fire in our house, I'll grab my wife, dogs and my Gretsch.

The King Of Guitars

By Elwood J. Soul

from Joliet, IL

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6120 Chet Atkins Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

A few years ago, I went shopping for an electric guitar. I tried Gibsons, Fenders, and Rickenbackers. I bought the Gretsch 6120 because of the great Gretsch sound. I love it's bluesy twang. It sounds so good, I often play it without an amp. I know this guitar has a rep for rockabilly and country, but I am truely surprised it is not used more often for blues. It must be one of the world's best kept secrets that the Gretsch 6120 can belt out the blues with the best of them. It's bluesy twang is custom made to make the blues wail as well as swing. I strongly recommend this guitar for anyone who wants a high-quality, beautifully made, great sounding guitar at a reasonable price. It is great for rock and roll, rockabilly, country, and believe me, it can really play the blues.

Twangy, bluesy sound is the king of guitars.

By Elvis Blues

from Detroit

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6120 Chet Atkins Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I bought this blueburst 6120 in 2005, when Chet Akins' signature was on hiatus. This is one amazing sounding guitar. the bluesy twang is great for oldies rock and roll, rockabilly, and blues. Not many blues guitarists play Gretsch, and that's a shame, because this guitar has a great blues voice. I love playing it without the amp, it sounds so good. I would strongly recommend this guitar over any other hollow body or semi-hollow body, including Gibson. The price may be a little high, but the quality is excellent, and the craftmanship is perfection. If you play the 6120, you will want to buy it!

AWESOME ATKINS

By Vickbobs

from Greenwood, IN

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6120 Chet Atkins Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

This guitar is a really great guitar. It has rockabilly written all over it, but it does not stop there. It can handle rock, jazz and blues also. It is kind of pricey, but it's quality is top notch, even for being made in Japan. I would highly recommend purchasing this instrument. Besides, with Chet Atkins and Brian Setzer names attached/endorsed, you can't get any better than that.
