Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6120SSU Brian Setzer Signature Nashville Guitar:

I own this guitar, and after 38 years of playing, I splashed out and bought myself this as a 50th birthday gift, along with a Fender Hot Rod valve amp. The review here by Eric Hermle could have been written by me. this guitar is perfect. The only difference is that I swapped out the dice for metal knobs on day one. The guitar isn't heavy by the way, it's lighter than an LP or Strat. But it's bulky, and I like that. The price is appropriate for a hand crafted gem like this. Every one of my friends that sees / play it falls in love. And the bright pick up sound suits me fine.

      Wishes "do" come true!

      By Eric Hermle

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6120SSU Brian Setzer Signature Nashville Guitar:

Why a 9? While opinions/reviews of this type are always a personal perspective, here's why I like it...The Beauty - Tiger Flame Maple under that luscious Orange Nitrocellulose Lacquer finish. The Beast - T. V. Jones Filtertron pickups - part of that Gretsch sound and hotter than I thought they'd be.The Extras - Schaller strap locks, pinned bridge, Sperzel locking tuners, Delrin nut, a very nice case, the extra chrome knobs should you not like the dice volume knobs. The Quality - I'm still very satisfied with the finish and attention to detail in this guitar.So... why not a 10? I still wish it was stamped with "Made in U.S.A."
Feature wise, it's what you expect. A Gretsch Nashville with the addition of a pinned bridge, Sperzel locking tuners, nice strap locks a slippery nut and the T. V. Jones Filtertrons. This is NOT some new fangled guitar where G-Whiz abounds. It's about a classic instrument with a timeless quality. The only feature I would have liked to see is a "Made in U.S.A." stamping instead of made in Japan. Not that I'm knocking Japanese artisans. The Japanese indeed know how to make high quality products. Maybe it's just the old school american in me.

ps. I was pleasantly surprised that standard chrome knobs for the individual pickup pots came with the guitar. I may put them on some day. But for now, I'm diggin' on the dice knobs.
Fit and finish is where this guitar truely shines. I have U.S.A. made Fenders, Gibsons and a Canadian made Godin. But the finish on this Gretsch is better than them all. The smoothness of the fret ends, the perfection of the woodwork and paint, the care in routing of the wiring all points to people that take pride in crafting a fine guitar. Also of note is how nice this guitar sounds acoustically and the sustain it has.
Yeah, I know it's expensive. But I've loved the Gretsch sound ever since I first heard Brian Setzer in The Stray Cats a couple decades ago. I wanted a Gretsch then. Then when Gretsch came out with the Brian Setzer models, I wanted one even more. If not for having the mans name on the guitar, then certainly for the wise choice of upgrades he asked for. Every time I play this guitar(and only through tube amps, of course), I get a seriously satisfied feeling.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6120SSU Brian Setzer Signature Nashville Guitar:

I used to own it. It is very pricey and when I found out how much it was worth compared to what I paid for it. I should have kept it forever. It is an outstanding guitar. It is a bit on the heavy side but hey...that's one of the small sacrifices you have to make to rock! Sounds great, Looks great, Feels great (except when purchasing it), but above all..it is great!!

      Outstanding Fiddle

      By GuitarMike-uy05V

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6120SSU Brian Setzer Signature Nashville Guitar:

I played this beauty in a "generic" music store yesterday - Saturday - and I am going in this Tuesday to buy it. It's balanced, it is gorgeous (it's also slightly heavy, but hey, it's a Gretsch), the tone is magnificent - booming lows, crisp searing highs, great on distortion, fret marks on the top side of the fretboard so you can find you fingering with just a casual glance, Bigsby, it's all just terrific. Not even the slightest rattle or hum. Fabulous blues box/jazz box guitar. I was even able to squeeze a little Metallica out of this baby. And of course it wouldn't be a Brian Setzer without being the best Rockabilly fiddle on the market, right? Best guitar value for the money. Like I said, It's a Gretsch. I'm biased.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6120SSU Brian Setzer Signature Nashville Guitar:

This guitar rules all, of course because it is modeled after Brian Setzer's guitar. My cousin has it and i played a few differemt songs on it and the tone was great.... you kinda feel like you are Setzer when you play it. Just wish the price was less so i could buy it.

      Good but pricey

      By Chgoblues

      from Chicago, IL

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6120SSU Brian Setzer Signature Nashville Guitar:

I purchased this guitar on a whim. I wish I could say that I felt it was worth the price I paid for it. It is a good guitar but I am just saying I am not sure if it is worth the price. I am used to playing a solid body. I am kind of dissapointed with the tone I am getting out of the guitar. Maybe it is something I will just get used to. The quality of the guitar is top notch but these days you can get pretty good guitars in a lower price range that are pretty much professional grade instrunments. If I were going to get another hollow body guitar I would probably get a different make.

      Gretsch Brian Sesler G6120SSU

      By AngloAmerican

      from Asheville

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6120SSU Brian Setzer Signature Nashville Guitar:

I purchased the green stain version of this guitar that allows the beautifully matched flamed maple to burst through. Although made in Japan, this guitar screams American. I have several very high class American made guitars at this price level and higher but this one stands out far and above them all for workmanship and quality of finish. Modern upgrades eliminates all the nagging issues of former made American Gretsches and that makes this instrument virtually flawless in design concept (those Japanise perfectionists).

      One Of Gretsch's Best

      By Jackknife

      from Standish, Maine

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6120SSU Brian Setzer Signature Nashville Guitar:

The Brian Setzer G6120SSU is truely a quality Guitar. It has the traditional deep bouncy sound, with some of the best looks I've ever seen on a hollow body guitar. It has The Dice Volume controls for the Individual Pickups and the Master Volume so you can play both pickups without losing the ratio. It also has the Tone switches, that drastically alter the sound from strong and clear to a rockabilly echo. Of Course it comes with the Bigsby, making it as musically versitiale as any other Gretsch guitar.
