Comments about Gretsch Guitars Limited G9520-BRB Jim Dandy Flat Top Acoustic Guitar:
So I did a lot of research on the Jim Dandy before I purchased. I guess I just never realized how small this thing is. Just a step above a travel guitar. And that's fine. I thought the frets would be fuller sized, but they are bigger than travel guitars. The finish had some minor blems in it , but this is meant to be my travel guitar so I can look past that. My biggest gripe is that the tuners are TINY and thus giving you less leverage while turning them. I'm 6'6" so keep that in mind, but I would imagine a kid would have trouble turning these because of their size and resistance. After 2 days it is keeping in tune now that the strings are stretched. But I find the action too high (that saddle sits pretty high). I know this is popular for sliding style of play, but that's not me. I will try thinner strings as that has helped me in the past with this problem. It is fun to play and looks more vintage that I was expecting (Bronze Sunburst) and I like it.
