Gretsch Power Jet > Gibson, Fender, other Gretsch guitars...

| Review By: Studogg | 7 months, 1 week ago

Features:

Simply put, this is the best electric guitar I have ever owned.  Plenty of tones variations and plays amazing!

Quality:

Better attention to deatil than ANY of the Gibson or Fenders I have bought lately.

Value:

It is a little pricey.  BUT, it is TOTALLY worth it if you can get a good deal on a used one.  Worth EVERY single penny.

Overall:

Without a doubt, if I had to sell all my electric guitars except one, THIS would be the one I would keep.  I have Les Paul, Strats, Teles, and none of them compare to this guitar!!!

AMAZING GUITAR!!!

Features:

These TV Jones pickups, in combination with the extra tone switch, offer pretty much any sound you could expect to get out of a semi-hollow guitar with humbuckers!!!  It can get that Kings of Leon sound, that classic rock sound, that Coldplay sound, etc.....    This guitar is AWESOME!!!  It is also WAY better than the Duo Jet models.  I have owned both.  Trust me.

Quality:

Forget your past notions about buying a guitar that was made in Japan.  The quality of this guitar is better than ANY of the several high end American made guitars that I have owned.

Value:

Let's face it.  ALL great guitars are expensive these days.  But, as guitars go, you get as much bang for your buck as possible with this guitar!

Overall:

Just a BEAUTIFUL looking, sounding, playing, feeling, guitar!!!  I love it!!

I just got back from a gig bout an hour ago, cant sleep, figured i'd write a review.  Borrowed this power jet from a friend and it rocks!  I dont like reviews with all 5's, but i really think this guitar deserves it. features:  this guitar is chambered, thus creating more sustain.  that coupled with these pickups creates a massive amount of midrange... something most les paul s cant do for you.  the 3 volume knobs are a unique feature.  one for each pup, one master volume, 3 way pup selector and a tone selector.  i dig it.  slim neck, great fit and finish, and locking tuners plus straplocks! quality:  this guitar is built like a gibson.  if it wasnt for the sticker i wouldnt know it was made overseas. value:  like i said, i thought it was american made by playing it.. and priced at less that 2 grand, beats the heck out of the les paul standards and traditionals by a few hundred bucks minimum!  plus there is no cheap satin finish, its all gloss. the tone knob may be the one hang up for some people.  if you dont like you tone to be pre set for you, or if you play with ur tone knob live, you might get a little frustrated.  down is normal tone, middle is bass cut and up is high cut.  some great combinations can be found when you start playing with the tone and pup selectors. gotta check it out.  buying one in a few months.

Retro is in! I'm shure most people think that Gretsch (Fender)is just trying to get a piece of the action by offering so many Jet models. Well they're wrong! Thank you Fender for producing a 21st century guitar that shines in every aspect. We now have a trouble-free bridge, just amazing TV Jones (USA-made) pickups, a comfortable and pretty fast neck, low action and Grovers that keep you in tune. Craftsmanship is absolutely superb. This instrument is very well balanced and lightweight, just like a high end Gibson LP model. Believe it or not, I play mine mostly through a Krank Rev. amp. The power'trons are fantastic. I'm getting smooth Jazz and Blues tones in the neck position and Rockabilly/Surf to 70's Hard Rock (AC/DC'ish) at the bridge. And there's no humming, buzzing or crackling! The only negative thing I'm able to come up with is that his guitar is made in Japan. I'd prefer to see the whole profit off the sale of this not so cheap guitar to flow into the US economy. I own 5 Gibsons, love them to death and would never sell them but now we have a serious contender that is no retro-joke!
