Hagstrom

The masterstroke - every inch a jazz masterpiece.

The Hagstrom Jazz Model HJ-600 Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar features a spruce top, contoured flamed maple back and sides and maple set neck. The Hagstrom patented H-Expander truss rod provides tension at either end and runs the entire length of the neck. The rigid yet lightweight alloy truss rod allows for very low action and a thin neck.

Another Hagstrom exclusive, the resinator fretboard is an extraordinary, homogeneous wood composite that maintains a strong fundamental harmonic and eliminates wolf tones. It offers the articulate sound of high quality ebony but with more consistency and durability. Silky smooth, reliable and fast.

Two Hagstrom HJ-50 humbuckers, each with volume and tone, combined with the hollowbody resonance, give the HJ-600 incredible power and range of tone.

The self-lubricating graphite composite nut is much harder than bone or plastic resulting in more string vibration through the neck. Tuning is also improved and string binding is eliminated by self-lubrication.

18:1 Gear Ratio machine heads ensure fully accurate tuning.

The high-grade polyester finish is hard, smooth, and more dense than polyurethane. It looks amazing and provides excellent protection and sonic performance. Case sold separately.

Comments about Hagstrom Jazz Model HJ-600 Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar after playing several comparable models, similarly priced, Raines, Ibanez, Godin, while all great guitars in my opinion, this one just stood out amongst the crowd. From the time you wrap your hands around the neck and hear how incredible this guitar sounds. The action is amazing, and there is ZERO fret buzz, zero buzz anywhere, the POTS are great, PUPS are amazing, and it just has that warm jazz tone we all are looking for, at a fraction of the cost.

Very nice guitar, with minor gripes

Comments about Hagstrom Jazz Model HJ-600 Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar about 2 years ago and I've come to love it. Originally, I was disappointed with the floating bridge and the amount of feedback that is possible from the big hollowbody. I soon realized though that it was my fault the bridge was moving around and that the feedback was controllable if I played around with my tone. Since then, I've learned to strum softer to keep the bridge in place and play with my tone (thank God, it used to be awful) and gain to get rid of the uncontrollable feedback. I play through a handful of Electro Harmonix and Fulltone pedals into a Fender Hot Rod Deville 410 and the HJ-600 sounds amazing. The stock pickups are creamy enough and clean enough for jazz but they're also hot enough for some good overdriven lead work. The neck is incredibly comfortable and has stayed relatively straight, only needing to be set up twice. Polished and waxed, the spruce and flame maple are TO DIE FOR. This truly is a beautiful looking and sounding guitar. Hagstrom is my go-to.

Brilliant

Comments about Hagstrom Jazz Model HJ-600 Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

Had my hagstrom for a couple of months, originally bought as a back up for my Fender Strat which i've used religously for approx 6/7 years. Haven't even picked my strat up since!!Given unusual variety of stuff i have to play with my covers band i either need a versatile guitar or an array of effects. I opted for this guitar given it's brilliant clean tone (through fender hot rod deluxe). I was impressed with the quality of the distorted sound with solo's sounded bright and very warm (bags of sustain).Given this is marketed as a Jazz guitar - it is also brilliant at any clean tones and can take the Gain required for Classic Rock (like: Free, Cream, Hendrix etc).Strongly recommended for those on budget and even those who arean't ....just try one out with a suitable amp!!!!!!

Best Value...One Thing You Should Know Though!

Comments about Hagstrom Jazz Model HJ-600 Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar for almost two years now and I love it. The sound is amazing etc etc. But when you change your strings for the first time, just change one string at a time. The bridge is not attached to the guitar, it's only held on by the strings. If you take the strings off, the bridge will fall off and you will spend lots of time trying to get the right sound back. (There's not a marking to tell you where the bridge should go unfortunately). Also, my bridge should actually be sanded like someone else mentioned, but I don't want to do that myself and if you bring it in you will get charged A LOT. So simply, if you don't change one string at a time you're either gonna lose a lot of time or a lot of money unless of course you really know what you're doing.

drips with tone

Comments about Hagstrom Jazz Model HJ-600 Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar for about 6mos and just love it. I run it through a studio projects tube preamp into a TC electronic G sharp with a touch of flange and plate reverb into a traynor ycv80 tube amp with the guitar set to the neck pickup. At this setting it wants to play that soft smokey blues or a smooth jazz lead run or a country chord lead. The stock pickups are well made and sound great. It leaves the factory with a minimal setup and took some time to get the intonation correct and wouldn't stay in tune but after 2 mos and after it got settled down I haven't had to mess with it any more. The neck is silky smooth and straight as an arrow. You can't go wrong with this guitar at this price

best bang for the buck

By the texas flood

Comments about Hagstrom Jazz Model HJ-600 Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

The HJ-600 is a well made guitar, it blows away the Epi dots, the Ibanze art, and the Gretch 5100s. You can feel the quality as soon as you pick it up, no loose hardware with a good solid feel. When I plugged it in is when the HJ-600 shined. The sound was smooth and clean on the neck pickups, but not as much twang on the bridge pickups as the Gretch, the pickups are clearly designed for jazz and smooth blues. The neck is to die for the action is so smooth you wouldn't know your playing a hollow body. I have D'Addario 11s and they feel like 9s. The only thing I found wrong was the bridge. I had to take it off and sand the bottom to fit the arch better, since the bridge isn't glued it was no problem, it just took some time and a new set of strings.

Nice buy for the bucks

Comments about Hagstrom Jazz Model HJ-600 Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

The HJ-600 felt great out the box. The only adjustment I made was string height and checked the neck. The tone through my Fender Twin was what I was looking for without having to give up 2 to 3 thousand dollars. I do own 2 Gibsons (ES-335 and ES-335s Professional) and Fender jaguar. But for jazz this will be getting most of my playing time.
