guitar is not about its name its all about its great sound quality and great hand crafted looks
Comments about Hohner Essential Plus Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:
The Hohner Essential Plus Dreadnought arrived at my door step two weeks ago. It is a very plain Jane looking guitar, there are absolutely no fancy cosmetic frills any where, not even binding on the body or the neck and the entire guitar has a satin finish. But, it is this raw look that makes it so adorable. However, this guitar shines in the sound department. It has a rich and beautiful tone with a good volume. As Hohner claims, this guitar really is in tune with itself, better intonation than most guitars out there. The nut-width is the standard size, 1 11/16, and not the 1.75 thats advertised. I actually ordered this guitar because of the 1.75 spec since all my other steel-string acoustics have the standard size nut-width. The wider neck makes finger picking easier. As disappointed as I was about this I couldnt bring myself to return it. I really like the sound and the raw look of it. The neck is also a standard size neck, not bulky and not slim. There are no sharp fret ends and the tuning keys seem to keep the strings in tune for a reasonable length of time. The neck action (strings height) out of the box was a bit high for my playing style, but that was an easy fix. I played it side by side against my other Dreadnoughts that I have in its price category and it scored very high, it produced the low notes better than most of them.Im glad to have this baby in my arsenal of guitars; its definitely worth the money. If measurements are important to you, then here they are:Overall length 41-1/4Body length 20-0Lower bout 15-5/8Higher bout 11-5/8Waist 10-3/4Sides 3-7/8 at neck heal, 4-7/8 at rear strap buttonNut width 1-11/16Body fret (14th fret) 2-1/8Neck profile at 1st- 9th frets 0-13/16 (includes fretboard thickness)Soundhole Diameter 3-15/16 P.S. Comments about Hohner Essential Plus Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:
incredible value
I took a chance and ordered this guitar without having the chance to try it out...as I could not find a dealer anywhere in Canada.
Well....let me tell you this is one of the most exceptional guitars that I have ever had in my possesion(and I have had quite a few at 3 to 4 times the price of this). Certainly not fancy, but nice fit and finish(satin). Setup very nicely with great action and the best intonation I have heard in a long time......right out of the box. I cannot "over emphasize"...the balanced sound, great tone and volume of this instrument. M.F. was a real pleasure to deal with and the shipping to Canada (which usually kills the deal for me)...was very reasonable. I am very satified with this instrument and my dealings with Musicians Friend...they live up to their name..... Dale in N.B. Canada
Comments about Hohner Essential Plus Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:
I was in the market for a decent acoustic guitar that I could afford, without getting in trouble with my wife. My budget was in the 150.00-300.00 range. I have been playing for about 25 years. Its just a hobby,I have never had formal lessons, just self taught from magazine tab and cd tutorials and friends. It was time to get something new,not second hand pawn shop stuff. I wanted the best sound and quality for the money. I tried as many as six different acoustics in the 300.00 and down range in all the usual name brands at three different local music shops. When I picked up the Hohner,I immediatly noticed the Earvana nut and wondered how that could effect the sound and intonation properties.Other than that, it just looked like a no-frills entry level guitar manufactured by a harmonica company. As I strummed the open strings,to see if it was in tune, it had amazing tonal projection that all the other guitars could not come close to.Even some that cost 500.00 or more! I could not believe the sound,big,bell-like tone, perfect action, not too low,nor too high.It was set-up perfect. I went through my acoustic repertoire and the hair stood up on the back of my neck! I swear this Hohner sounds better than the Dove or the EJ200 that I've always dreamed of owning. This is the best example of a perfect acoustic guitar for under 700.00! Great tone woods, excellent build craftsmanship, all for under 300 dollars....Perfect.
Comments about Hohner Essential Plus Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:
Good setup right out of the box. The essential model has the compensated nut that keep the intoneation true all the way up the neck. All wood construction brings out the highs and lows very nicely. Good guitar for the price. I will keep this one in my personal collection for some time.
