I just got mine the other day, after seeing it was discontinued I searched every Ibanez dealer for 300 miles of here, and the trip was well worth it. This guitar has amazing sound. I play it through line 6 spider 3 that I bought w/ it, and the sound is just amazing. If you can find one anywhere, BUY IT!
This guitar is amazing. First off, i'd like to say that the features are great. The ZR bridge is a dream, and the wizard II neck is a great neck for me as i am used to strats, and the wizrd I is a bit too thin for my liking. It has a good combination of shreddability and chunkyness. The pickups are a slight let down, but once i fit in a Mo Joe Bridge in my neck and an EVO bridge, the guitar just completely slammed my friends X2N loaded RG prestige. Great for anyone who loves the mahogany tone, with a great clean split tone from the mid pickup. Buy it.
The body and neck are very thin and fast. If you play technical metal, jazz, blues, etc. anything that requires speed playing, this would be a guitar worth considering. The pick-ups aren't wonderful, but with the right equipment or a set of new symour duncans this guitar would be close to perfect. The bridge gives you a really hard time when you need to change the strings though.
I bought this quitar a month ago to fill a need for heavier sound. I own alot of Strats. I used to play Les Pauls and Sg's as well as strats during my touring years. I wanted a heavier sound with out the weight. Here's a old school rockers take on this fine guitar. First off the weight and feel of this guitar is super. The neck plays fast after a few adjustments. Fretwork decent. The pick ups are fine for the tunes I use it for. They could be hotter but are very funtional as they are. The single coil gives a strat HSS sound. Played thru a vox amp this axe sounds so SWEEEET!!!. I finger vibrato most of the time but the znr is excellent. This was my first Ibanez as well as Asian made guitar. Finish, playability, sound is all you can ask for in this price range. I will be buying a S720 in near future as well. Buy it!!! You'll be pleased.
I've just bought this guitar a couple weeks ago. It is the best guitar I've purchased. Amazing tremelo, better than a Floyd. I love the middle pick up, it has an acoustic sound to it. Great investment!
This guitar is amazing. When I got it, straight out of the box it was set up almost perfectly. It only needed to be tuned is all. I had my doubts about the ZR trem at first(cause I prefer floyds) but when I started getting use to the feel of it I was blown away. The quilt maple top is done with a natural finish and I wouldnt have it no other way. Overall this guitar is amazing for the price and I would highly recommend everyone to get it or atleast try it out.
I just bought it, and it's serving me very well. The Zero point tremolo is extremely useful, because I frequently change from standard e to drop D between songs. The Pickups are suprisingly good for stock pickups, and I don't think i'll change them anytime soon. This is an EXCELLENT guitar, and for the price, it makes it even MORE excellent!!
I bought this guitar about 3 weeks ago. The difference in this guitar was amazing. The wizard II neck forces you to play faster, harder riffs and the floating floyd rose tremolo bridge setup is fun to play with. The only problem is that if you are not careful screwing everything in with allen wrenches your tuning and strings will be mutilated so keep everything tight. Definitely a great guitar.
I have played Gretch guitars, Fender Knockoffs, A great Les Paul Artisan (which I still have for Jazz and Soft Rock), Gibson quitar solid body which was ok but was stolen at a dance I played at)and I find this Ibanez quitar fun, lightweight, responsive (rarely goes out of tune) and drives the notes very well. I which however, that the switch was located in a different area to avoid the trem bar from crashing into it, and I wish their was one more switch that kept all pickups on, but all that can be adjusted on the amp to give it warmth (brown sound). Overall great guitar, have at it.
I recieved my guitar a few months ago and am very pleased with it, but there are some flaws. The volume knob often gets in the way of the trem (which usually isn't a problem, since I use the inverted style, but alot of people will be annoyed). I also Think it's slightly overpriced, it's not worth the extra $200 for the quilted top as opposed to a normal S470. It's very versatile, as I play blues, metal, hard rock, and soft rock on it.
