I have owned this guitar for nearly a year now and I must say I am completly satisfied with it. It plays metal best but is a unexpectidly versitile guitar, fairly well suited for country as well (although its not a tele). I have played a number of guitars including high high end gibsons and fenders and this isnt to far behind. Super smooth action and a great cutaway for high end fret access. stays in tune fairly well. Ringen neck through sustain, and very well defined high notes that just sing. however, lower tunings sound a little muddy, and heavy rythm work in the lower frets gets lost in translation. all around a solid guitar for anyone looking to step up from there squire.
I've been playing Les Pauls for 15 years and, when I bought this Ibanez (2 years ago), I was down to one and needed a cheap backup. With the same wood combination, I thought this would do nicely. First off, I swapped the pickups for matching Gibson ones. You can tell the factory ones aren't up to snuff. Everything else on this guitar is absolutely flawless and even outdoes some of Gibson's standards. The playability is amazing and it's built like a tank. The tuners are awesome and stays in tune quite well. The quilted top even rivals some PRS has to offer. This is absolutely the best buy in its price range. I don't see these guitars in stores anymore, nor have I seen anyone play one. I have no clue why these aren't more popular. Buy it and you won't be disappointed.
I recently purchased this guitar from a local retailer. This past weekend, I played my first show with it, and the input jack was probably the biggest pain ..ever. It has great tone however, and is a great buy...just make sure you do something to the input jack.
I love this guitar. The feel of it is very nice and it's very light. The color that I have is the gold amber burst. It looks sharp and it's still brand new after 2 years of owning it. I never get tired of Playing this guitar.
I love this guitar. I have the gold amber burst version. It feels amazing and the quality is great. I use it for church and jamming with my friends, its great for both. I would recomend this to anyone.
I have had this guitar for about a year now. I love the gold amber burst color. This guitar has a great feel and great sound. I never get tired of playing it.I recommend This guitar to mostly amateurs and pros
I was casually trying out all the guitars in the shop out of boredom, and began with the Ibanez section. I had only tried about 4 or 5 Ibanez before in my life, but that afternoon, I tried between 15-20 dufferent models. As soon as I picked the SZ520QM, I knew this was something else completely. First of all, it's an eye-catcher. The guitar is beautifully made, with an excellent finish. Then I noticed the weight of the mahogany body, that without being really heavy at all, was relatively heavier than all the other models I had tried. And then when I plugged into the amp, I was really blown away from the sheer power and quality of the sound. Deep, fat tones, and crisp, powerful highs that sounded like they belonged to a guitar worth four times as much. While it's no Gibson, it sounds much better than most Epiphone Les Pauls I have tried, and looks a lot hotter, too. I am planning on getting a Gibson Les Paul eventually, but this guitar has made me postpone that purchase for a while.
I bought the SZ520 back in October of 2004. I saw it in the catalog and decided it would be a good replacement for my Ibanez RG220. Little did I know that this guitar would quickly become my best friend. I love everything about this guitar. I have had it for two years and it looks the same as when I bought it. The finish is amazing as well as the trim and the overall shine of the body. I have been asked more than once if it is a Paul Reed Smith which of course I take as an extreme compliment to the makers of Ibanez for such an amazing, yet affordable instrument.
I recently purchased the Ibanez SZ520QM and am I ever glad I did!I have to rate it all 9s becuz nothing gets all 10s - but this comes close. Excellent feel and tone - perfect weight, heavy enough to give that quality tone without breaking your back or budget. I have heard this guitar refered to as "the poor man's PRS" and I would have to agree. I have become a fan of the Ibanez line in recent years for their quality/price point ratio. Gibson must be oughta their minds to charge so much $$$ while Ibanez is making equivilent quality for much, much less.Love the quilted maple top and the solid feel. the only thing I would change is the fretboard flame inlay - I kinda miss the regular blocks or dots to guide me - but not so much that I'm sending this back!!!!If you're thinking you should buy this guitar - then you should!
I have tried this guitar and I am now saving money for it. I am still in awe from when I tried it.
