Ibanez AEL2012ETKS 12-String Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar - an excellent value

By David Rosky

from Columbus, Ohio

Comments about Ibanez AEL2012ETKS 12-String Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar plays great and sounds great both acoustically and amplified -- comperable with instruments of twice the price tag. The on-board tuner and electronics are very good. The additional XLR connection is a very nice feature, providing another good option for direct line amplification and/or recording. The guitar holds tune very well during hours of play and even during storage. The hardshell case really protects the instrument and helps keep the tuning -- definitley worth the investment. The only negative is the battery compartment which is a rather fragile design -- a possible future concern. The price tag for this quality of 12-string is amazing -- a great value product.

Great guitar, may need bridge support

By Daniel Thompson-Aue

from Idaho Falls, Idaho

Comments about Ibanez AEL2012ETKS 12-String Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Beautiful guitar, looks great on stage, plenty of sound, nice maple eq profile, tuner is great, preamp is very good.
I bought this guitar used after enjoying playing on in the store. I love the look of the transparent black with gold tuners and all, very dynamic looking. I love the sound from the all-maple body, nice and bright with a quick punch on the low end. I look forward to the sound as the guitar ages. Plays well clear up the neck; on board tuner is very helpful. I play in a group with electric guitar and electric bass, this 12 is very loud and fills the sound out. Great combination of performance and style. If you can find a hard shell case for it grab it, this is an enormous guitar and hard to fit; I have settled in the short term for a very large gig bag.
Durable, reliable components and construction, except for weakness in bridge support that may lead to bridge pulling top out of level and affecting sound and action. Easily repaired.
Terrific 12 string guitar for the money, dynamic looking, great sound, very playable.

Another nice Ibanez

Comments about Ibanez AEL2012ETKS 12-String Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I really like this 12 string. The action is low all the way down the neck. It sounds great acoustically and plugged in. The fishman electronics make it sound great with lots of flexability in the tone and voicing. The onboard tuner is great and works well. When I first took it out of the box I strummed it a few times and of coarse it wasn't totally in tune. I turned on the tuner and tuned each string to the green light and then played it and it sounded beautiful without any further tuning. The more I play it the more I like it and I am considering selling my electric 12 now. I really don't need it because this one does both acoustic and electric.
Love the on board tuner and the fishman electronics make it sound great.
The neck is straight and the action is low. Bought mine as a used one so maybe someone had already set it up, I don't know, but the action was beautiful right out of the box. Only had it for a few weeks but it's keeping tune quite well so far. Intonation is pretty good. The neck is much wider than my electric 12 but I like that, seems to make it easier to play more accurately since there is more space between the string sets and I can fingerpick it pretty well. The finish is nice but I would have liked a more transparent finish, this one appears almost solid black unless you're right next to it with good lighting then you can see some woodgrain showing through. I got it as a level 3 used which allows for heavy scratches and nics but it took a while to find a nic, just two small ones on the back. The scratches aren't that bad either. Almost like new!
Bought this as a used one and for what I paid this is a lot of guitar and very nice.

Very important you read this if looking to buy

Comments about Ibanez AEL2012ETKS 12-String Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar a little over a year ago and was extremely pleased with it. The guitar had some frets that stuck out on the side that would cut my finger open, but after sanding them down it worked fine, sounded amazing. The problem didnt start till about 6 months later. An annoying buzz was present every time I played it,so i figured the strings were old. I went to change the strings, only to discover the top 5 frets were completely worn down and needed to be replaced. I played ALOT, but this kind of issue isnt supposed to happen till at least 3 years down the road. The price to repair it and get decent frets put on the guitar is almost as much as the guitar itself. Just a friendly warning

My first 12

By Metal4ever!!!

Comments about Ibanez AEL2012ETKS 12-String Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar about a week ago and am incredibl pleased. I played this at my local guitar center and really liked it. I got it two days after the store stocked it and the condition was very good. I have only needed to tune it twice which is very convenient. The plugged in sound is great and the sound slider is great. when all the way left it has a deep full metal-ballad sound, when all the way right it has a country sound. The guitar also sounds very full unplugged.

Good Guitar

By Lukeb102

from Soldiers Grove, WI

Comments about Ibanez AEL2012ETKS 12-String Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Very good guitar. Very beautiful looking. The Paint job is hard to see at times, but it doesn't really affect very much. Sound was very bright with the strings that came on it. I plan on replacing them very soon. Otherwise unplugged this guitar is very loud. Quality was very good for the amount of money that was spent. My one problem with this guitar is when I received it the neck had a slight bow in it. Not a terrible bow, but one that could be noticed. I just took it to the local guitar store and got it adjusted. Not to sure if it was the product or the supplier's fault. Works great now! The action is lowered on the higher notes. The playability on this guitar is O.K Not the greatest in the world, but O.K for the amount of money. I'm use to playing 12 stringed martins. Otherwise the electronics work well. Love the on-board turner. Doesn't take too long to tune and actually stays in tune very well. I purchased the case with it, so that might of been helpful. That's another thing, spend the extra 100 bucks and get the case. It really is nice! XLR connector is amazing very nice for the sound board. In Final this guitar I found was good for the price of money. I liked the sound and the body size and type. My only issue is get the neck checked out as soon as you get it. If its bowed go and get it adjusted. Trust me it helps.
